I know it's a wiki quote but you can see where they can go with some of this wording, I always thought the Germans and Swiss had their heads screwed on tighter than some other Euro Countries, guess not. " In Switzerland and Germany, catch and release fishing is considered inhumane and is now banned.[5] In Germany, the Animal Welfare Act states that "no-one may cause an animal pain, suffering or harm without good reason".[6] This leaves no legal basis for catch and release due to its argued inherent lack of "good reason", and thus personal fishing is solely allowed for immediate food consumption. Additionally, it is against the law to release fish back into the water if they are above minimum size requirements and aren't aprotected species or in closed season. "

Unfortunately, at 65 I've seen the " fringe " become the norm 10/20 years down the road too many times in my lifetime to even take a single step down that road anymore. We must be vigilante and united as fishermen , hunters, trappers and shooting sports enthusiasts and stop being divided and our own worst enemy , throwing one another under the bus. If we do not stand together we will fall individually.

Did anyone get the Amber Alert last night?
dave524 replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
We have Fibe , but I wasn't paying attention , but I didn't hear anything from my wife so I'm guessing it was a non event here. Still , interrupting a PVR recording is puzzling. -

I must be a member of the tinfoil hat club , but them having the ability to interrupt a recorded program is over the line . What is it ? a smart TV and part of your internet network, the recorded program maybe on a PVR Hard drive , I'm not understanding how this worked. -
Started with steelhead decades ago but now use up eye snelled hooks for almost all applications. This is the knot I've used for 30 some years with no issues. Any fly tiers who can whip finish without a tool will quickly get the 2 finger twirl, for me, it is as quick as a clinch knot. If you don't snug the knot up to the eye you can fish yarn or skein in the loop for bows. http://www.steelheader.net/knots/whip_finish.htm

what song are you listening to right now???
dave524 replied to fishing n autograph's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
I was lucky enough to be born in 1950 so that 60's era of folk music revival was part of my teens, no decade since has produced as finely crafted songs as then. This guy also was at the top of his game then but somehow never did reach the popularity of Dylan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlVfVBFdMaM -

I've found it rare that people actually have the nails pull out and lose a whole shingle, most of the wind damage I've seen is on roofs a few years old and usually on a south facing slope where the sun has started them curling a bit and the wind rips off a tab here and there.

Friend had a Grumman modified V jon boat that looked identical to that hull years ago, the least little bit of chop and it was a wet rough ride.

Wind has been up good here for last 48-72 hours, still 40 F so just rain. Tomorrow is trash day so there is going to be bottles, cans and paper blowing down the street

For big water , I've always like the Starcraft hulls.

62 F here right now , been really windy for the last day or so. Shore casting for browns very soon. -
Time for a new roof, 15 years on asphalt shingles is doing good. Get to it before you get water damage inside.

Some one else on the board just got a boat from this dealer recently, this looks really clean and in the same 12 grand ballpark as that Legend and far more boat. http://www.nichollsmarine.com/used/17'%20Monark_2002_12899.00.htm

Actually south of North Bay the province is really divided, The map looks quite blue , you have to go to the urban inserts of the postage stamp size ridings in the GTA and other urban centres to find Lieberal red, there is a very real urban vs rural division in politics in Canada today.
