  1. I'm going in the kayak so I won't know where until either the night before or morning I leave. Have to see how hard the wind is blowing and what direction before I pick a launch spot. I have many to choose from so, no matter what the wind is doing, I'll be in the Kawarthas somewhere. Good luck to all.
  2. If walleye could fight and bass tasted great, I'd be with you. I'd rather keep the crappies and let both the bass and walleye go. Haven't kept a walleye in over 5 years and never kept a bass.
  3. Yes I know, "Smells like victory" . Here are some dates I found on WFN: http://www.wfn.tv/events/calendar/
  4. Yes please, the last thing I want to do is drive 2 or 3 hours to a lake and see a bunch of 200hp bass boats ripping around.
  5. That was great to see. As soon as the P3TA characters win against the seal clubbers, they'll be coming after the sportfishing crowd. We are already on their list, but not yet top priority. Did you see their protests in the U.S.? They were telling people not to buy Canadian Maple syrup in order to protest the seal hunt.
  6. If your Dad says you should take more people with you fishing, listen to him, I'll go with you when musky opens . Besides, I miss my old Sportspal .
  7. The launch is a muddy mess and the grade is very shallow. Unless you have a light enough boat that you can push off the trailer and winch it back on from the waters edge, you'll be in the water with both wheels covered to launch. Getting back out will require a serious 4X4.
  8. Those are great pics Jamie and great memories for you both.
  9. That would be Deihl Point according to the map I looked at. There are only 7 cottages on that island and three of them are facing Fenelon Falls. Where's the closest public launch? Let's get this WGSF derby going .
  10. C'mon Holdie, now it sounds like you forgot to take your meds.
  11. Very nice crappie Henry.
  12. I'm in for the Cameron lake WGSF (rockbass) derby. I'm sure I can bring along at least two other boats. All we need now are some GPS co-ordinates for location. Maybe this guy forgot to take his meds that day, but if not, it sounds like a hate crime to me. Seriously people, we can make a difference here. You mess with one fisherman, you mess with us all.
  13. Last two days couldn't get on between 12:30pm and 5:30pm.
  14. Way to go guys. Most of the Bog reports this past weekend have been pretty fishless. All this talk about a new moon or something turning the fish off. Glad to see you could find a few biters.
  15. This has been a slower year for the weeds at Mountsberg, along with higher water levels, shore fishing is as good as it gets there. A pair of waders will help you get your casts to more productive waters.
  16. Those are some nice ones Rico, must have been loads of fun on the ultra-light. Now I know why I don't fish streams for trout, 5:30am, I can barely get myself up that early for musky trips.
  17. Remember guys, they don't open for 2 more weeks yet.
  18. Went out this afternoon with both kayaks loaded on the roof of my little car. My wife, daughter and family dog (6 month old Shih-Tzu cross) all in tow. My daughter took the dog with her but it jumped out and swam over to my wife in my kayak. More room for it in there anyway. After they paddled around awhile I got a chance to get out and caught this pike on my first cast. It wasn't big but it was too big for a butterfly net. That didn't stop my daughter from trying though. She tried for awhile after that, we only had one pole between us, but resumed her frog hunting after 5 or 6 casts. I caught an even smaller one half an hour later but that was all. More of an adventure, less of a fishing trip. The dog still smells like pond scum .
  19. Great one Cliff. I too enjoyed a day on the water kayaking with my daughter. Beauty days indeed.
  20. Welcome to the board fisherfellow. I'm feeling generous tonight. Location: All Kawartha lakes Gear)Line: 65lb Power Pro Rod: Gorilla stick Reel: Abu Garcia 5600C4 Lure: Bucktails Presentation: Fast and Furious over weedbeds This is what works for me.
  21. I've always tied my PP directly to my titanium leaders when fishing for musky. When burning bucktails I see no advantage to flouro leaders.
  22. I'll be hitting Wildwood in the "No gas motors allowed" section next week in my kayak. In the past we always had luck with rattle baits for both pike and bass. The water is so coloured that you have to get their attention with the rattles. Not as murky near the deep end by the dam though, spoons will work there.
  23. Several OFC'ers were going into this derby today. Anyone know how big the $1500 winning fish was? How did everybody do?
  24. Thanks for the report Kev, and especially for not including a pic of an OOS ski. Couple more weeks and hopefully we will all be posting some musky reports and pics.
  25. Great old pics Cudz. I've wanted to do some scanning of some of my old pics as well. Hats are to fishermen what pants are to golfers, you really have no limits as to how you express yourself. Take this one for example, looks bad enough sitting still. Add some speed and it really looks funny.
