Thanks for the tip AA. I tried j-13 and x-rap rapalas, #4 bluefox spinners, and a white terminator spinnerbait before catching the pike on a matzuo perch.

What about the famous WGSF . Maybe I'll do some PIKE fishing in Pigeon lake this weekend and have a photo or two for you kickingfrog .

Went to Mountsberg with brother Joonmoon to try for some pike today. We fished from 10:30am until 1:30pm. I fished from my kayak and Joonmoon fished from shore. I was also trying out a new camera mount for my kayak and I think now I have all the bugs worked out. Had three hits and only hooked one, this little 17"er. It was caught on a perch twitchbait around 1pm. Joonmoon had some luck as well, bad luck that is. He snagged this fellow with a musky buck and it was pretty upset, striking at him several times before he could unhook it and let it go. Can anyone identify the species?

"I am try to stop you from looking stupid because of... illiteracy, all you have to do is read." quote from Terry Speaking of illiteracy Terry, your signature should read "THAN" not THEN all the lakes in Manitoba. Feel free to fix that immediately.

No secret cherry kool-aid or jello crystals in the mix?

Nice one Buck, what was the bait of choice? Or is it a secret .

If you follow the law, as it is, you cannot take a picture of an OOS fish. Immediately means just that. Not measuring, not weighing and not mugging for a camera. You can do as you please, but don't try and justify breaking a law because: 1) that species hasn't started to spawn yet, 2) It was the biggest one of that species that you've ever caught (PB Poachers Best) or 3) because you want to show off the fish in your report on OFC.

I've sprained and torn my MCL twice, it's not fun. The MCL is on the inside of the knee and the ACL is on the outside. If it's a sprain you may have 4-6 weeks until it's good but it'll never be the same if it's been torn.

A panfish can clean out a nest completely in 5 seconds. Chances are the nest has been pillaged before you even land your OOS bass. You might as well take a pic and brag to everyone about your new PB (Poacher's Best) and how none of it's offspring will grow up to be caught in the future. Some conservation areas have made changes to how they run things to try and cut down on this happening. Island lake in Orangeville for example. They used to have a pike derby to help reduce the high numbers of pike in that lake. The idea was that the bass fishery would improve if the pike numbers went down. They found that during the tourney too many bass were pulled from the beds and the crappie and other panfish were cleaning out there nests. They no longer hold that pike derby, which is too bad for people that fish Belwood lake, because that is where the 200 or so pike that were caught during the tourney were live released. Valens conservation area doesn't even open till the end of June. They have pike and crappie and could make considerably more money every year if they opened at the end of April. The reason there is that it's a nesting area for many bird species and boaters would interfere with that. The result remains pretty clear though as many large bass are caught during their derby in July. Just follow the guidelines (not laws) of this site and don't post your OOS fish in your reports.

The sit on top style that are popular with most fishermen start around $900 and rise all the way to $2000, and used ones are hard to come by. I like the sit in style because I like my butt to be dry when I fish .

I would lend you my old one but my daughter has claimed it as her own now. If you search "kayak" on kijiji they sell a Canadian made kayak by Clearwater in Kitchener called the Iqaluit that has a large cockpit, good for fishing, for $599. It is a sit inside kayak. Not sure if you want a sit in or a sit on top model. http://kitchener.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-...QAdIdZ126229501

My new back lake helper..... will be fishing SOON!
jediangler replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
Very nice set up. My only question would be, wouldn't it create less turbulance flying with the nose of the canoe at the front instead of the transom? -
Don't buy anything until you try out at least a half dozen different yaks. Things like your height and weight, where you intend to fish and how you intend to transport it, all have to be taken in to account. If you can rent or go to some demo days you can narrow down what works best for you. Last week there was a demo by Adventure Guide at Laurel creek conservation area. The week before that Swift had kayaks and canoes for demo rides at Guelph lake conservation area. Check out Yakfisher.net, join the forum, and tell the gang your size and type of fishing you intend to do as well as your budget restraints. There is a huge amount of experienced yakfishers on there that will be happy to help you out. Many of them have more than one yak and would probably let you try one out. Many OFC'ers on there as well like Crazyhook, Pure, Nomad, Ricoboxing and many others.

That's one big sheepy. Thanks for posting.

What are you fishing for with 7" black worms this time of year?
-
5/0 hooks will work fine with 7 inch worms. I only use 4/0 for worms that size.
-
The fish are already wet, so they don't care. It's only water.
-
Good luck with the new boat and enjoy your spring and summer. If you see a kayak fisherman in Pigeon lake, come over and say Hi.

Mark's work warehouse has them, but I don't think they are made in kid sizes.

No billionaire hockey fans in Winnipeg or Quebec city. Jim can afford to lose money at the rate Pheonix is losing it, he'll just write it off. Besides, they had their chance and couldn't make it work in those cities.

My knuckles are aching just thinking about cleaning all those slabs. Nice haul.

Limeyangler I loaded up the jig & grub with scent and casted it into the shallows and let it sit. I had to re-scent every cast because it washed away so quickly. A couple of guys were getting them on corn where I launched the kayak.

Looks like North American Cars aren't the only ones...
jediangler replied to Uncle Buck's topic in General Discussion
Toyota Tundras were manufactured in Princeton, Indiana and then San Antonio, Texas. Toyota Tacomas are manufactured in Fremont, California. They are both North American made vehicles.
