  1. There are also crappie in there, but I couldn't get any to co-operate today.
  2. Had some time this afternoon to get the yak out and try for some Alder lake carp in New Dundee. Got on the water at 1pm and fished until 3pm. I managed two smallish carp (14-16") but they are going into spawning mode and weren't all that interested in a meal. I was fishing shallow and got snagged on stumps and lay downs several times before I snagged on this fellow. I thought I had hooked another log, until I pulled it to the surface. He was none too happy with me. I put my paddle next to him to give it some perspective. The blade on that paddle is 18" long and 6" wide. I guestimated the shell to be 24" long and I wasn't getting any closer to measure it. His head was the same size as my fist. I cut the line about 8" above the jig to save my fingers any damage.
  3. Great pics, especially the tail dancer.
  4. No need for an apology to me Holdy, I quite enjoy a little back and forth banter with you. Just thought it should stay civilized.
  5. Why bring religion into this?
  6. Well done frozen-fire. Nice clean and healthy looking pike. Great release shots. What did you catch it on?
  7. "They put things in perspective when that report was published in 2003...You're only 6 years late" That's how far behind they are in the prairie provinces. It takes that long for news to get there. Watch out for SARS in Sask. By the way, everyone in the U.S. and Canada are going to die.
  8. Nice fish gentlemen. Great nature shots as well. That big snapper looks ornery. Last couple look like splake to me too.
  9. My PB kayak musky 43" from pigeon lake last August.
  10. PM sent, good luck.
  11. Congrats on the addition to your fam.
  12. From Wildwood conservation area on a deep diving crankbait.
  13. Once in Elephant lake I seen a musky surface like a submarine, eyes out of the water, then go back down. I figured it to be around 40 inches long. All I can figure is he was checking for boats before eating.
  14. Hey joefish, the minimum wage in Brazil is $200 U.S. per month. They did have a three day strike at the plant because they were getting considerably less money than other workers in the region. Who says you need a union to strike.
  15. The beach is very popular in the summertime. Nice looking lake. Like Jer said, when you check it out on google map the colour is amazing.
  16. Nice work Nomad, that self portrait thing will come with practice. Nice hat too, by the way.
  17. This is a video of the Ford plant in Brazil. I found it quite interesting except for the cheapshot at the UAW at the end. It is from the Detroit news. http://apps.detnews.com/apps/multimedia/pl...dex.php?id=1189
  18. Welcome to the community AA. Looking forward to reports with lots of "fish porn".
  19. If what rdj says is true, that would explain why poaching pike and bass at Mountsberg (also a Halton park) is not prosecuted. I always wondered how the poachers got away with it when a C.O. or park staff could write a dozen tickets a day, but instead turn a blind eye. The only fear these poachers have is of getting ticketed for trespassing on the train tracks. If you don't believe me, just take a drive out there this Saturday and count how many people are fishing, and keepng fish, a week before pike season opens.
  20. I've used the surgical tubing for years and it's always worked for me.
  21. Looks like a cool adventure.
  22. I like it but have only used it in the 10lb test size. I use it on my ultra-light with a 2 or 3 foot mono leader.
  23. I'm still surprised how few people target these fish. In most Ontario water bodies, they are the hardest fighting fish.
  24. I've caught fish on power bait that is close to 20 years old. I'm sure the scent isn't what it used to be, but it still works.
  25. After spending the day at Guelph lake alone yesterday, I decided to take my 8yr old daughter again today. Had to be a little creative to get both kayaks on top of the car for the 45km trip to Guelph. Looks funny but was stable up to 80km/h. Once she got in the water I had a hard time keeping up to her. She enjoyed weaving through and under the tree trunks. She has had several hours of kayaking, but has never tried to fish out of one before. Like all of us, she had trouble controlling the yak while casting. We decided to keep going farther up the creek until it was less than 2ft deep. Then we parked the yaks and she began fishing from shore. After 20 minutes she managed to hook and land this sucker, but would not hold it up for a picture. We started the trip at 10:30am and fished for 2 hours before calling it a day. We knew that thunderstorms were in the forcast for the afternoon and wanted none of that. Great day out with my new kayak fishing buddy. I didn't even make a cast but didn't mind a bit.
