  1. I was thinking that...but they are less then 1:1 ratio aren't they...? That would be lots of cranking to bring in all that line...
  2. Actually a lot of fish are mixed together right now due to some common attractants.... Good food....warm water...spawning habitat... I have a spot right now where the next hit I get could be a smallie...largie...walleye...pike...with pretty equal odds...As well as a few other species ive caught there... Well that's here anyways...
  3. One thing with crimping your own.... I add a bit of shrink tube over the finished crimps... It cleans it up nice and leaves less of an edge for weedsto catch on... Use steam...not a lighter to shrink the tubing so you don't damage the flouro...
  4. Looks like your having a stellar year... Good for you...
  5. Why not... He said he kept the fish to eat... Nice catch...
  6. I meant stayed on my home water... Too sick to fish all weekend but made it out for a bit yesterday afternoon... 16 walleye in 6 hours...
  7. in some cases maybe... but i saw an "ethnic" angler club a 10+ pound walleye... when i asked if he was gunna eat it or mount it...he said "neither... i just want a picture" :wallbash:
  8. cant fish em wrong paul... one thing i like to do is to add a large single stinger hook onto the regular hook... for the days when they are nipping at the bait... then its a mood thing... if they are really aggressive then burn em fast... if not... slow it down a bit and get the lure down to the strike zone.. as far as trailers go... keep em short... there ok for bulking up a bait a bit... but if you hang a 10 inch worm off the back your gunna get short stikes...3-4 inch twister tails work good for trailers..
  9. i too have experienced situations with people of other ethnic backgrounds... first one... my first salmon i ever hooked... fishing from shore... it was very clear i had a fish on because i was yelling it out loud.... then the "ethnic" fellow beside me casts right over my line... i later found out this is common... they do it in hopes that their hook makes it to the fish so they can argue they caught it and try to keep it... like bill said... i dont think its as much about sport as it is feeding the family... or at least feeding them for free... but either way we are lumping these people all in together and thats not really fair to those who set good examples and show proper etiquette... ive seen plenty of ... shall we say "not so ethnic" anglers out there that deserve a slap in the back of the head as well... maybe its a MAN OF THE FAMILY thing... the more fish and bigger fish he brings home the more of a man he is... i dunno.... hope i didnt offend anyone...
  10. Really makes it hard to support your local shops when you can save hundreds a year buying US...
  11. i have one of these hook files and i like it.... http://www.muskyshop.com/modules/cart/products.php/keys/file/page/1/id/633/name/LuhrJensenHookFile512 as for snaps on the business end... http://www.muskyshop.com/modules/cart/products.php/nav_id/5/page/2/id/1139/name/StringeaseStayLocProSnaps from the sounds of it you want a few things... an online order might be a good option... i get all my gear at rollie and helens musky shop online... great service... and then you can get yourself a few new lures too... and were the salty rod holders the powder coated? or did they actually have "rubber" on them... because i have never heard of rubber coated saltys before... but i do have the powder coated ones... ...
  12. id be flippin out right now if i was you... i can see a boat taking a while if its being manufactured....maybe... but the motor... there should be one somewhere they could have shipped out by now... i would think anyways...
  13. how can you tell its in spawning mode....?
  14. cool idea about the signatures....
  15. im not even a fan of trout fishing and that report makes me wanna go... thanks for the great report mike...
  16. one thing i check on low budget reels is the material for the outer case... i prefer metal...doesnt warp... if its plastic i like a lot of screws to keep its shape...none of that twist off sides junk...thats fine for the high end stuff... all those hours in the sun are hard on plastic... had a diawa with plastice sides i got for 80-100 bucks... lasted one year...another diawa i got the same day with aluminum sides is still going strong 5 years later... and the price was about 20 dollars more for the aluminum reel...
  17. i think its more that a 100 dollar reel now has the technology and parts of a 200 dollar reel 5-10 years ago... the high end stuff is still better...in most cases ...
  18. got my license checked by the OPP last night... at least they are helping out the MNR...in my area anyways...
