  1. zone 20 is a lot bigger then just the lower niagra... and someone has to take the first step...
  2. i dont think its fair to make him sound like the bad guy tho... its the BC government that is allowing this to go on and backing him up... thats the issue that should be looked at... this guy is just playing his hand to the fullest...and i dont blame him...
  3. i think thats great... thatll pretty much eliminate all keeping of musky... and i can start fishing em a week earlier... BTW zone 20 also has the St.Lawrence river all the way to the quebec border...
  4. if i had the money to buy up all the land surrounding a lake...then was given permission to stock this lake... and did so with my money... id be doing everything in my power to keep people off the lake... this guy is living what a lot of us dream about... having your own lake to do whatever you want with... and hes the bad guy for not making it accessible to the public?...even after the provincial government said the ranch has the right to put a gate and block access... come on... let him have his piece of paradise...
  5. if your looking at the back of the motor... the drain should be dead center less then a foot from the hood... there is a big flat head screw that releases a plastic piece... this plastic piece just kind of tips down and will act like a spout for the draining oil... then there is a hex bolt...this is the actual drain bolt... have rags/paper towel ready... theres no really clean way to do it.. this is how any honda ive seen is set up...
  6. no... i have rods specific for every style of fishing i do... he sure did... and if i was to try for big cats from shore id use my carp rod... depending where you fish...i have spots that even with a 12 foot rod i have to change my lead to a distance lead or i cant hit my target... i never said they were the only type of carp tackle out there... like i said... i wasnt bashing your set up... and i wasnt saying mine was best... i was just trying to let the OP know there are POSSIBLY better options then the outfit you suggested depending on what kind of waters he will be fishing.......your the only carp angler i know using the set up you suggested.... and i see hundreds of carp anglers a year here... but for your fishing its perfect and you like it...and thats cool... sorry if i offended you...that wasnt my intention...
  7. can you make this arrangement with a USA shipping store...? have gander send it to a shipping store and have them send it to you... im not sure if thats something they do...but its worth a call... i use "the ship it shop" in massena NY... The Ship-it Shop 1 North Main Street Massena, NY 13662 315-764-5866 but i go over and pick up my packages...its only a 15 minute worth a call anyways...
  8. took the easy way... tried fish crisp beer batter... it was really good... greasy...but good...
  9. yeah... that way there is no "this is what i understood" threads.. and everyone can hear the facts...
  10. Any way someone can do a video and post it on ofc...? I'm on a border water.... But Niagra area is a tad far for me to go for some info.... Here I'm on the Quebec/NY state/Ontario zone 20/18 Lots to know and hard to find the info.... Only clear info I've found is in the NY regs....
  11. although it can be simple to catch carp... there are proper tools designed to do it better... hooks made specifically for carp fishing... long powerful rods to control huge strong fish...and cast over 100yds... alarms for those of us that sometimes take an afternoon siesta... i agree most people can go get a carp in the spring when there are loads around feasting on anything they can find... on very simple tackle as well... but i do feel someone with the proper gear will enjoy the experience way more...(as long as they can afford the gear)and on average out produce the improperly equipped...im not suggesting that if you buy the right gear youll be able to pound carp.... what im saying is if you have the knowledge... and the tools... you have more options to overcome different conditions... on saturday there were 3 of us fishing... and the only rod that got a bite all day was the one that was out 100 yards... i dunno about you guys... but no way can i cast 100 yards with an ugly stick and an ambasador... might be different when your fishing of a cement wall in hamilton harbor and can give it a short toss off the wall... unlike most other shorelines... i know my 12 foot rod got me out of a few pickles that a shorter rod wouldnt have... luckily carp are incredibly tough fish and can handle long battles and improper handling techniques that occur with new fisherman...thats what makes em great fish... im for sure not taking a shot at you Hammercarp... you technique has evolved for YOUR style of fishing in YOUR area.... and i think its a great set up... especially the paint roller...lol... but for those of us fishing harsh conditions like 5mph current... drop offs from 2FOW down to 60FOW and covered in rocks and zebra muscles...huge underwater stump fields... flooded rock fences...swims that require 100yd casts... REAL carp gear is an asset...i tried with other gear when i started...that resulted in lots of lost fish...break offs... and lots of money worth of tackle being lost....and very limited amount of spots i could fish... kinda got off track here... to the OP try the simple methods suggested...with gear you might already have... but know that there are way more tools and techniques out there... so if you have fun and get hooked on carping... explore as many options as you can...this will help you become a better angler...
  12. i dont think the rhino lining looks that bad... after all... it would just be the main frame of the trailer... not the fenders and id would last a loooooong time.... probably expensive tho.... but if i had the money thats what id do... but my trailer is galvanized... so im good to go... http://texastruxx.com/gi-58468-boat-trailer.html
  13. no biggy... icy roads are nothing to mess with... from what i can tell as soon as the car ahead changed lanes the SUV tried to accelerate and thats when he lost it...if it was rear wheel drive they can kick out the back end in a hurry... thats why i take my time in those conditions... and if there is anything on the roads...snow...slush...etc.... 4X4 is always on... makes you realize... 5 star crash ratings only get you through so much...
  14. sorry... next time ill make sure to add context to what im saying... if im not talking about the actual fruit... i use the word bananas to describe something unbelievable...maybe not the perfect word i guess... but it was the first thing that came to mind when i watched that video and the van completely shattered... i wasnt trying to make light of the collision... and im a little offended that you would call me out in public assuming thats what im doing... next time take it to a pm and suggest that i might edit my post because it may be seen as offensive by some...cause i didnt see it as inappropriate...but now that you mention it... other words could have been used... thanks for the quick judgement mike
  15. sweet video... but where the pics with me... or is that on the bloopers and outtakes video...
  16. If that's how YOU wanna look at it.....Lol IM looking at it as the primer ball and spark plugs were the only steps that produced results... And fixed the problems... And the $100 for a new fuel pump....$6 for a fuel filter...and $20 for fuel lines and SS hose clamps... Did nothing but eliminate possible problems... I also ran the boat on the water after each step so I knew wich ones worked... Thanks to everyone for giving me a hand... I'll be cleaning the carbs in a week or so and might have some new questions then... Mike ...
  17. A tin take out tray if you must know...
  18. Didn't have tge shrimp tonight either...lol Got called at 730am to go to work for 8am.... Cause they forgot to tell me last week... Then went for a boat ride and had Greek take out.... I will make em sooner or later... Some tasty looking recipes so far...
  19. well... changed the fuel line and that did nothing.... but thanks for the suggestion...over and over and over...lol turned out when i was having the top end issues and it was running rough... my spark plugs got really dirty... so i cleaned em up with sandpaper and brake cleaner... took it for a spin tonight and all seems fine... running great.... full top end power for a long ride... and dropped to idle 5-6 time and smooth idle every time.... trolling great... nice and slow... so i am still planning on cleaning the carbs because i have the parts ordered anyways... and i was having issues with the needle valve being blocked open... so a good cleaning and new gaskets should take care of that off and on problem... and the motor should be 100% again... hopefully... mike
