  1. Do you plan to leave it in the water(at a marina or your dock...) or on a trailer? Cause letting glass soak in the water all summer for years will take its toll... Aluminium can handle sitting in water a lot better... In my opinion...
  2. when i put lampreys back in the water... im pretty sure they arent going to survive...
  3. I love my aluminum... Light...easy to launch... Planes fast... But glass rides nicer...smoother...dryer...handles rough water better... My dream boat is a ranger 618t with a 90 Yamaha...
  4. I get sick of current sometimes....
  5. Very cool... Your lucky to have so many lakes close by to mix things up a bit...
  6. I'd make the your...8.5 footer(...uh uhm...you don't even know your own rods...) your troller... Then if either doesnt feel right... Try switching em up... Cause in the end it's personal preference...
  7. That's kinda why I don't use em... Almost all the weedbeds on the st.lawrence are flatened out by current... Almost no standing weeds... So they have no advantage over other baits... From a design perspective...
  8. Thanks billy bob... That was a good read...
  9. Glad to hear some opening week reports like this... Sounds like a great time...
  10. i thought it was a mercury minnow for a minute.... they had mercury in them instead of steel balls... my dad actually has one of these...
  11. oh i know... its how we used to troll em... but man its tiring trolling 8+ hours at 5mph with rod in hand... amazing feeling getting a big musky trolling rod in hand...
  12. thats because there were no mods on for a bit...
  13. it has been removed...
  14. i mean the "V" shaped spinners... as apposed to straight in line spinners... theres loads of large musky ones on the market...
  15. yeah its a blast... this fall in quinte i think me and my buddys are gunna take turns holding 1 of the rods and adding action to see if it helps... but it doesnt really work with planer boards... so i was thinking a flatline or a leadcore flatline... also gunna make the effort to have one of the musky rods in hand this year also...
  16. Inlines yes... Lots of musky on them... But never on the safety pin style...
  17. Structure trolling walleye... Walleye on structure are very aggressive and hit hard... And it's a run and gun style of fishing.... Lots of small spots...as fast as you can... Till you hit a fish... Then work em... Also this is rod in hand trolling... So you feel the hit... And whoever adds the better action to their bait WILL catch more fish...holding your rod still all day won't get you many fish... You gotta add twitches and sweeps and drop backs... Oh yeah... And drop back strikes.... Sometimes the walleye just bump a bait... But if you let out 5-10 feet right after the bump... Engage you reel...then give it a twitch... More often then not you'll get slammed!!! Love it...
  18. Never seen a musky caught on one...
  19. good point... so i guess once i get the stuck post out ill give the post and base a good cleaning and see how that goes...
  20. White for bass... Chartrues/green for pike... One gold and one silver tandem willows on any color SB...
  21. The one that would catch weeds is the one at the bait... The tag end is pointed towards the rod... So I guess it's the same... But it makes a sexy looking leader and I'm not picking moss off the crimps every cast... And yes you can add a treble with rounded hook points(rounded so the hook point doesnt damage the leader material...)to the mainline end of your leader to catch weeds while trolling... Works great too... I don't do it but my dad does...
  22. well i have pedestal bases like these... and i find the pedestals get stuck in every time... no matter how long theyre in for... 1 trip or 20... last time i had to remove the base from the boat and use a hammer to get the pedestal out... i like removing the seats im not using to free up floor space... anybody have some tricks to get them out... and any tricks to prevent em from getting stuck in the first place... im thinking a big wad of grease... but that seems like the most sloppy fix... also dads ranger has the same issues but different pedestals and bases... thanks mike
  23. thats dumb... ive driven a boat my whole life and i need a license... but joe blow can go rent a speed boat that goes 50+mph and doesnt need one... :wallbash:
