I agree with the 8 feet down per colour on the 30# @ 2.5 miles per hour...but i dont run it enough to state better....12 colours of 20 # @2.5 puts me into 65 feet down ... i just won one of the Walker Coho Classics 9 feet with the Walker WTD 300 that im going to set up with new leadcore....kinbda stoked about trying this new lever drag system

Bring on the insanity ...

The rattlin raps IMO are the only lure you need in your tackle....its like the rod ...you have to have it to catch fish ...you have to have the rattlins too.....they are sinking lures and are meant to be travelled at 8 feet under surface...you can however speed up your retrieval to get about 6 feet of travel....i have caught smallies bigmouths salmon bows browns musky and pike with them ...you might want to pick up the original shad rap (grey/white) as well The look and action of the lure attracts in clear water ( great action on them ).....when the water is dirty ....the bbs inside make the fish curious until they see it and then strike... ps if your looking to unload them ...let me know ( just the rapalas) @ 7 bucks a piece i have hundreds of them on the bottom of the saugeen....over the years
-
Also for consideration ...Erin Lake or Chesley Lake ....Walleye smallies and perch
-
another real nice spot is on the way up to Sauble ....turn right on Silver lake road and drive until you see the lake ...litterally right beside the road...i drove by it today and thought it was a prestine place to spend some quality time fishing..but i dont own a canoe or row boat anymore.. As far as crown land ...im not sure but we were always respectful of the land we stopped and set up camp on and never had any issues with hostile farmers or authorities...we actually left no evidence we were ever there...but we did have a camp fire with a farmer and his wife one trip ...they were fantastic people and didnt mind at all I guess what im trying to say is ...if you are respectful i dont think you will have any issues with anyone ...and just might make new friends along the journey... Good Luck and take lots of pics ...to remind me of what a fool i am for selling my canoe
-
Nice report ...you need to find that lake thats turning out the huge rainbows and give it a go ...
-
Anywhere along the saugeen is prime...we used to drop in at paisley and canoe all the way to Dennys Dam.. ( taking our time and fishing for three days)...this requires two vehicles ( up and down stream)...but there is some pretty incredible scenery to occupy the photographer on the trip and plenty of fish to accommodate the rods Good luck

Depending on the time of year your going to be here...Early July will produce jumbo yellow perch in Port Bruce off the pier...its on lake erie well worth the drive from Thamesford and you can eat your catch...use a pickerel rig with worms or minnows ...ya might even hook an wally but between the perch and sheephead you and your daughter will have a good day... The pond in reference between Thamesford and London used to be stocked with trout and has been known to turn out a decent size sturgeon ( but its been quite a few years since i fished it )... Just another suggestion Good Luck

i agree with the damper ...i just replaced mine on my dodge and problem solved...it was actually pretty scary the way mine was bouncing ...they actually have a name for the symptom..." DODGE DEATH WOBBLE"... with new tires i would make sure you are aligned properly so not kill the new tires.. -
water fountain/ Canon at the forks of the thames
Twocoda replied to PitViper's topic in General Discussion
it will probably help it ....aireation of the water isnt a bad thing ...hopefully it blasts the mosquitoes to another dimension -
yes i was talking the southampton area...and UP to the dam
-
just to chim in and agree with the comments already posted....you might find this hard to believe but there are still tight bows comming in ...if you make the drive down to the dam/lakemouth stretches ...im sure youll be very happy with the production...its a totally mix bag time of year...carp musky bass bows (droppies and fresh) specks and the odd sucker still....i missed one brown but being only one out of hundreds of fish i landed this year i wouldnt focus too hard on them ....to say the least its been a stellar year... Good Luck ...and Welcome to the Board

If we go to catch and release i guess we will not have to operate our stocking program....oh what ever will i do all winter instead of raising salmon...maybe force me to take a vacation to where you can eat your fish... Personally ...i cant see it happening

global warming anyone????
-
The house : great not to have to cut the grass... The kid: im betting he is a quiet child...except for maybe asking for AIR The boat: easy to winterize if ya just freeze the whole thing SOLID and thaw in the spring The car: im thinking great gas milage and wont have to worry about overheating There is a bright side to everything ....EVEN FLY FISHINNG!!!!!!!!
-
i have butter ...lemon pepper and WILL travel... where am i goin?....lol...
-
when i go on solo trips i usually end up arguing with myself for not setting up camp earlier...irresponsibility drives me nuts... nice shots ....take the exact same shots of the same area when your son is older and gets to go ...i see the start of a cool tradition ...maybe for generations to come ....notice the changes in the trees and the waterline from now until then ....but im thinking we might not notice the changes in the colour of your hair.... Nice Job

Since he has a vested interest in the Super D i wonder how hard he was "straightening" out the competitions lure when it ventured off camera several times??? Personally i would think using the lures head to head and keeping a running tally of the damage after every fish might seem more prone to deliver the message ...after all ...how much damage can a lure get if it doesn't catch fish ... just my .02

good for her you mean ...cuz it translates to free skilled labour for her family...
-
idle hands in the construction biz do not make money ...if there is no one hiring in your area ...then i suggest you get yourself a bin number and GST number and start advertising your craft...before you know it ...you will be hard pressed to find the time to go fishing ... or since you are young ...now is the time to venture out into the country and bring your skills to where they are in demand...no better time but the present to see the country...not only will it be a financial gain but it will make you richer for the experiences you encounter.. If you do go for the MNR the "IN" is to volunteer for everything and anything you possibly can ...as well as maintain great grades Good Luck
-
original shad raps...will turn fish for you ... another real good spot is just north at the thorndale bridge....i caught the biggest smallie of my life there ...5 1/2 pounds i use jitter bugs up there in thorndale... Good luck
