  1. That lake is nuts. Like the 401 on water. Good LB fishing though.
  2. He was smiling all weekend and giving me the gears. He loved beating Dad at fishing, LOL.
  3. With the demands of the job the past while fishing has taken a bit of a back seat. But I got out a couple times this fall in some small lakes by the cottage. Caught quite a few Smallies but the boy beat me up on size. I did catch some too, LOL. All caught on twister jigs or Zoom Lizards. The next weekend we took one of my son's friends that never been out fishing before. Helluva first fish! He didn't stop talking about it for hours. Picture still makes me laugh.
  4. My week trip to Moira Lake is coming up ... can't wait. How's the summer fishing on this lake? I've heard about the fall Musky fishing, but not much else.
  5. I have a Pflueger Arbor with the same style spool. I put the braid on with no backing. I have not had the same problem. I use it mainly for lighter jigging. I can't remember the braid that's on it. It's not Power Pro or Sufix though.
  6. I was a long haired kid that listened to heavy metal and the nickname stuck. I add the 68 for the year I was born. Easy for me to remember.
  7. Thanks for the input guys. I'm back up there in a couple weeks. Hopefully they are still in colour and I'll send the little guy after them with his net.
  8. We have a ton of Chub in the area. They are the right shape, but the whole head was orange. I've been up there for 10 years and never seen these before. That orange in the pic is the right colour though. Maybe the same fish with more colour?
  9. Don't think they were goldfish. Every time I've seen released goldfish they kept their rounder profile and stayed in still water. These were slim like a minnow and were staying in the current. Hope they wern't goldfish as there was a school of 20-30 of them.
  10. I was at the cottage this weekend on the Saugeen River. There was a whole school of a minnow like fish swimming around. They were slim like a minnow (1.5" long) with an orange/red head with a brownish orange body. They were pretty fast moving and stayed in the current so it was hard to get a good look at them. Anybody seen these before or have an idea what they are?
  11. I picked up two Compre this year, One was $100 incl taxes at the London Boat Show and the other was $110 incl taxes at a sale in Hamilton. Plus they have the rebate. Like them so far, but only fished them a couple times.
  12. You are isolated from the grid if the main breaker is off. But there is nothing stopping somebody from closing both breakers at the same time. That MUST be avoided. That is what the isolation panel does.
  13. I bought an 18" Sylvan last year and have been very happy with it. I was very impressed with it's rough water handling and I can get into the mid 40's with a 115 opti. I picked the Sylvan more for the interior layout then anything else as well as a proven hull construction. It depends what is important to you to pick what suits you.
  14. I know the motor adds extra oil during the break in period. Maybe that is fouling the plugs a bit during extended idling. But my 115 has about the same # of hours and I haven't noticed this problem. But I haven't many slow speed trips either.
  15. I noticed coloured or stained water seem to lighten the fish and fade the markings. The bass in the Grand and Binbrook Conservation seem healthy enough ... just washed out.
