i run walker tournament series...i like to stack so i use the two rod holders all the time .. Things i like about the walkers as opposed to the canons and scottys ....very very very fast getting your cannonballs up and out of the away...i had issues with one unit and NO questions asked my unit was swaped out without a hesatation.. The canons were indestructible but extremely slow ...they do come with some real nice features though ...digi troll....lots of bells and whistles Scottys make a great rigger ....but ive never owned any ...and i think they stopped making the foot control pedal for them ... Big Jons ..someone else will have to chime in on them ..

Detroit Gets Close Encounter With Jet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DETROIT -- The excitement at the annual speed boat races along the Detroit river Sunday wasn't confined to just the water. A scheduled fly-over by an F-18 Navy jet was captured by a photographer and the picture is getting attention nationwide. The picture shows the jet, turned sideways, zooming past a high-rise Detroit apartment complex. It appears to be very close to the building. "It felt like the sky was falling," said tenant Carol Stover, who saw the jet. "I looked up and saw the jet and I was praying we weren't under attack." The picture, which appeared in the Detroit News, New York Post and on the "Today" show Monday, was taken by Detroit News photographer Steve Perez. "As I was going back to edit I saw it and it just kind of jumped out (at you)," said Perez. "It's one of those things that's just timing and luck." Tenant Inez Brown watched the fly-over from her balcony on the 28th floor. "I didn't get the perspective that they were that close. I was like a kid in the candy store. I got a chance to see some professional fighter pilots in action and that's something you don't see everyday. They did some phenomenal maneuvers." According to the military, the jet was actually about 200 to 300 feet away from the shoreline. Authorities said no one on the ground or in a building was ever at any risk.

I always use the GPS to determine my speed ....but ...most times i dont have to look at it ....if my cables are cutting the water with an inch and a half bubble wake off them ...im normally bang on ....but this isnt always correct as currents play a factor as well...even on the big lakes... If you know your boat really well you can just tell when everything is just right ...from the sing of the cables to the sound of the motor...but the GPS always gets the confirmation check ...

Nope ...no casting required....ya just have to hurry up and wait

whats your set up for river salmon fishing
Twocoda replied to chuckymcd's topic in General Discussion
I have several different methods : when the salmon are first comming in i use a 10.6 Fenwick/ABU spinning reel/ 8 # test as the season moves on i switch to 15' Float rod/Shefield float reel/ straight 6 # test on 8 # backer ( can run lighter leaders as the water requires) When the bows start comming in i switch to 13' StCroix/ steamside float reel/ 6 # test ( early) As the bows begin to pile up...9'Fenwick 7w fly rod /Martin fly reel As the water starts freeze i go back to the StCroix setup ... This is the second Salmon run post in a couple of weeks....now im going to be wishing the summer away As for detailed set ups ....the water dictates what you must do ....long/short leaders...# test leaders/...colour/size of bags/flies etc.... Welcome to the board and Good Luck -
Good to know there is a support group....

No doubt one the the most inspirational fighters of all time Boxer Arturo Gatti found dead Boxer Arturo Gatti found dead Saturday, July 11, 2009 Former world boxing champion Arturo Gatti, who was raised in Montreal, was found dead in northeastern Brazil on Saturday. On a second honeymoon with his Brazilian wife Amanda, Gatti's blood-stained body was found in a room at a resort in Porto de Galinhas, Brazilian police said. Police investigator Edilson Alves told The Associated Press that it was unclear how the 37-year-old died. "It is still too early to say anything concrete, although it is all very strange," Alves said. Gatti's wife and 10-month-old son were unharmed. Nicknamed "Thunder," Gatti was born in Italy but grew up in Montreal, where he learned to box. Gatti moved to New Jersey as a teen and it was there that he began to embark on his professional career marked by some of the most exciting bouts in recent years in the sport. "His entire boxing career he fought with us, we've known him since he was 17," Kathy Duva of promoter Main Events told The Associated Press. "It's just an unspeakable tragedy. I can't even find words. It's a horror." Gatti built his reputation on a slew of slugfests that featured his ability to give and absorb a tremendous amount of punishment. On four separate occasions, he engaged in bouts recognized by Ring Magazine as the fight of the year. He often lived outside the ring like he fought, arrested most recently in April for assault. After winning the International Boxing Federation 130-pound junior lightweight title in 1995 against Tracy Harris Paterson, he defended the title three times. Included were knockout wins over Wilson Rodriguez and Gabriel Ruelas, bouts in which he was badly hurt before rebounding to win. The Ruelas bout got the nod as Ring's fight of 1997. Gatti lost the belt to Angel Manfredy, and many wrote him off when he lost two stirring battles with Ivan Robinson, the first of which was named fight of the year in 1998. Unable to avoid punches Gatti was able to regroup in his career in large part thanks to new trainer James (Buddy) McGirt, who tried his best to get his charge to resist the urge to brawl in every bout. The pairing was successful, allowing Gatti to win a second world title belt in 2004 when he defeated Italy's Gianluca Branco by decision. Still, his limitations as a fighter were exposed when he fought the elite in boxing, and he lost one-sided fights to the likes of Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather. Critics derided Gatti's inability to avoid punches, and some wins didn't come without controversy. He took full advantage of weigh-ins held a day before fight time, often packing back on several pounds by the time the bell rang. Joey Gamache, after a vicious knockout loss to Gatti in 2000, sued the New York State Athletic Commission after it was revealed there had been an 18-pound gap in weight between the men, essentially putting them in different weight classes. But Gatti had legions of followers for a style that hearkened back to boxing's televised glory days of the 1950s. Thousands turned out for frequent bouts at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, where he would enter to the strains of Thunderstruck by AC/DC. He essentially became a New Jersey son, only fighting professionally once in Montreal. Gatti sealed his place in boxing history with three brutal junior welterweight bouts in 2002-03 against Micky Ward, winning two. The first and third fights of the trilogy were recognized by Ring and the fans as the best of the year for their excitement level. Despite battering each other from pillar to post, the two men forged a friendship. After he retired, Ward on occasion even accompanied Gatti on his walks to the ring, Gatti last fought in 2007, losing by seventh-round stoppage to Alfonso Gomez. He finished with a record of 40-9, with 31 knockouts. Gatti moved back to Montreal after retiring in 2007. With files from The Associated Press

Empire State Building Stolen In what has been described as one of the biggest heists in American history, the Empire State Building was reportedly stolen this week by a New York City newspaper in less than 90 minutes. The New York Daily News drew up fake documents, created a bogus notary stamp and filed paperwork with the city and successfully took ownership of the $2 billion property on Monday. The heist illustrates what it descibes as a gaping loophole in the city system that doesn't require clerks to actually verify information. The office of the city register, upon receipt of the phony documents prepared by the newspaper, transferred ownership of the 102-story building from Empire State Land Associates to Nelots Properties, LLC. Nelots is "stolen" spelled backward. To further enhance the absurdity of the heist, included on the bogus paperwork were original "King Kong" star Fay Wray as witness and Willie Sutton, the notorious bank robber, as the notary. "Of course, stealing the Empire State Building wouldn't go unnoticed for long, but it shows how easy it is for con artists to swipe more modest buildings right out from under their owners," the paper concluded. Nearly 24 hours after the fake deed was filed, the newspaper returned the building to its rightful owners. The Daily News says it will not report all elements of how the scam works. "Crooks go where the money is. That's why Willie Sutton robbed banks, and this is the new bank robbery," Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Richard Farrell told the Daily News. http://www.nydailynews.com/money/2008/12/0...ews_to_ste.html
