  1. I got one for Sue when we bought our new boat last year and she loves it. (haven't had to use it yet). The thing is so comfortable you forget you even have it on. I also have an inflatable but mine isn't automatic. I can't tell you how many times I have come in from fishing and ended up walking up to the house with mine still on because you forget you are even wearing it. I think they are an excellent investment Lew.
  2. What a beauty (pup is pretty cute too)! Have fun with your new addition Joey, that is one lucky pup!
  3. You are good and the only one to catch that! I still couldn't carry a tune in a pail if it had a lid on it LOL. Looking forward to it too Cliff!
  4. Now that is funny!!!!!
  5. I can't sing, I can't dance, I can't play a musical instrument and I can't spell. The music side of it is simple, I have no sense or rythum and can't tell the differance between a C sharp and a D flat. God just didn't give my those abilities. As for the spelling, well it just isn't logical. Words that sound the same but are spelled differently. Words that are spelled the same but mean different things depending on the context they are used in. Too many rules with too many exceptions and I have a problem with things that aren't logical. Give me a motor that isn't running right, something that needs to be built or fixed, anything that requires a mechanical aptitude or logical reasioning and I have no problem working that out. Algebra, trigonometry, geometry, were all a breeze for me in college as were physics and science. I also type at about 12 words a minute, so very often when replying to a post on here I spend a lot of time composing my responses. I suppose I could cut and paste and do the spell check thing, but for the most part I think people can understand what I am trying to get across even if there are a few grammer or spelling mistakes. I do have a solution though, if my spelling, punctuation, or grammer are that much of a problem just don't bother reading my posts!
  6. Yes, there is, when you can't close the lid you have reached your limit As for the limits of purchased fish; (as long as it is purchased from a licensed distributor) there is no limit but you could be asked to provide proof that it was purchased and not fish that you caught and claim to have purchased. Purchasing fish from Buba down the street, doesn't count.
  7. Andy use to love to fish, and he was wonderful in the boat, well, he did get a little excited when you caught a fish and heaven help you if you threw it back, he actually dove in off the dock to try and retrieve a large carp one time because he thought it was getting away. Only issue we ever had was my own fault, I left a tray of luers sitting on the casting deck (closed) someone hooked a fish, Andy got excited, stepped on the tray which promptly flipped up in the air and opened showering Andy with countless trebble hooks. Fortunatly he was trained to freeze on the spot when told. I gave him the command, he froze and while many of the luers landed on him and caught in his fur none of the hooks dug into him but it could have been a disaster. Because Sue doesn't fish Andy never interfeared with my fishing, there was always one of us around to take care of him and if and when we did travel we always had someone that would come and stay at our house with him. I think it is wonderful that you are thinking about getting a dog, I can't think of a more loving home for one but since both you and Paul like to fish together I do think it would make it more difficult for you. Good luck whatever your decision ends up being.
  8. Oh come on Beans, the reason the dairy wouldn't sell you a big tub of icecream is because you tried to take back what you had left over. Besides, you scared the kids so bad last year there won't be any knocking at your door this year, I warned you last year to put on a mask or they wouldn't come back!
  9. The topic of seperate sections has been debated so many times over the years on this board and it always comes back to the same thing. LEAVE IT AS IT IS because it works! No other fishing board has shown the sustained growth that this board has. If I put a post up here saying "I need help with"; plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, automotive repair, or almost any other topic you want to consider someone is going to get back to me usually within an hour or two with information and help that I need. Even if they don't have the answer to my question, they can very often offer sources where I can find the answer. So if you want a fishing only section just go to a fishing only board or just skip the NF posts, it's as simple as that!
  10. I like the fact that we don't have pages for different topics, next thing you know there would be seperate pages for the different topics. There are plenty of forms available if that is what you are looking for. I also like the fact that this is a community and we share information on a variety of subjects and opinions with fishing as our common bond. As Lew put it so well, if you don't happen to like the topic, just move on.
  11. I have almost exactly the same settings on my HDS 5 and I can see a 1/4 oz jig in 20 fow no problem.
  12. Just wondered, did you get out and if so, how did you do? never mind, just saw your post about the Rice Lake walleye!
  13. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.
  14. Well, I have had many wonderful days of fishing but yesterday was spectacular! Anytime Bruce, Steve, and I get together the stories, jokes, (and lies ) start and don't end untile the day is done. To top it all off, you couldn't have asked for a better day on the water fishing wise, the first fish was landed within a minute of us getting there and the bite was steady all day with many beautiful jumbos thrown into the mix. Steve actually cut my line on me at one point just to slow me down so he could try to catch more fish than me although I think he was out fishing me already anyway, that's why I cast over him in the first place. Good friends, good weather, good fishing = a spectacular day! Thanks again to both of you for making this a day I won't soon forget and I am already looking forward to our next venture.
  15. There are plenty of muskie in Sturgeon lake, I catch the stupid things all the time when I am fishing walleye. If you are familiar with the lake, try the Goose Bay area between Ball Point and the Moorings marina and South. Look for 12-14' FOW then work South ( shallower)from there. The muskie are hanging in around the weed edges picking off the pan fish. There isn't too many boats out this time of the year so you could even fish the chanel from the lake going up toward Lindsay. Winds are calm it isn't cold or raining, enjoy your day!
  16. I am so very sorry to hear this, my heart goes out to you both. No words can ease the pain but cherish the memories, in time, you will be able to smile as you remember the good times you had together.
  17. Well, I know you guys will have a wonderful time regardless of how the fishing is! Enjoy!
  18. I can see a new business venture starting up here: Billy Bob's fast freight forwarding LOL. Not only that but it would give you lots of excuses to come up to Canada
  19. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, I have never been out of work, I have been unemployed a few times and I have had to change careers a few times but I have always been able to find work of some sort even if it was only enough to pay the bills. That you find yourself in a position where you have to sell your car and boat to make ends meet I find truly sad, I wish you lived over here, I have so much work available that I couldn't possibly handle it all and I'm supposed to be retired LOL. If you ever think about relocating, think Lindsay and give me a shout good fishing, and plenty of work if you are willing to do it. Good luck in your job search, hang in there, something will come up!
  20. Whats the matter Billy Bob, Tundra needed out for a pee and Cindy wouldn't get up with her or are you just trying to figure out your picks for the football pool for today
  21. There are no words that make it easier. Time can help dull the pain but it never really goes away, that is the power of love! I hope you find comfort in knowing that he had a wonderful happy life with you and that you will in time come to smile when you think of all the good times you have shared.
  22. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!
  23. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, we were in the same boat this spring when we had to say goodbye to our Andy. There is no better place to bury a good dog than in the heart of his owner. There will be a time when you can think of all the good times you had with Arnie and it will bring a smile to your face.
  24. I just got word that our friend Simon's (pikeslayer) mom died today after being hit by a bus in Mississauga. We only had the pleasure of meeting Mary a few weeks ago when we got to spend a weekend with the family at a cottage up at Maple Lake. She was a beautiful lady, full of life and energy, she will be missed by many. Our heart and prayers go out to the family. RIP Mary.
  25. LOL, the only time ccmt and I have any problem fishing together is if someone else is along. Think about it; three people in the boat, ccmt, me, and person X. Person X yells "CLIFF, GET THE NET" and both Cliffs dive for the net at the same time. It is a lot of fun when we are at the house though, Sue will say "Cliff, could you do ?????? and we both go for it LOL. Paul you are welcome here anytime, and those fridge repairs you helped me with turned out perfectly by the way and saved me a lot of money! Thank you again for that! I am thinking I should start adding Appliance repairs to my list of things, I sure know where to get a good source of parts! And Beans you old fart, for a guy that promissed not to tell about our time in the cell together, boy I'm glad I didn't tell you where I burried all that money, everyone would know about it by now!
