I'll be in to see you early next week! I'm anxious to see your new shop!

So is it all set up and ready to go? If so I'll be coming in to see you very soon!

Does the gas freeze in the tank on your car in the winter? Well, it won't freeze in your outboard either, you already put stabilizer in it and ran it through, you'll be fine. Putting a tarp over the motor isn't a bad idea but just make sure you don't seal it up too tight. As long as some air can flow under it condensation won't be a problem. On a larger boat if you were to tarp it when the humidity is high with no way for air to circulate then you could end up with mold and mildew problems. Putting one of those big blue tarps over it won't seal it tight enough to cause any problems. Relax, you'll be fine!

Sue and I usually donate to the United Way every year, they money then ends up being used to support other charitable organizations in our area. I was a volenteer on cabnet with the United Way and I know that they have a very stringent review process before they alocate funds to any charity. Also a VERY high % of the money donated goes directly to the charities. We do also donate to other organizations; The Salvation Army helped me out when I was a kid, I've never forgotten it. The Heart and Stroke and Canadian Cancer Society are always on our list. As for donating at the cash or through some other corp.. Not a chance, they get all the credit and tax deductions and you supply all the money.

Hey, I've had posts just plain vanish into thin air on more than one occasion. I have also had a post edited but to be honest with you, I was informed about it and an explanation was given which I agreed with. There may have been others edited that I didn't notice but not that I'm aware of, I guess if I post something offencive to someone, the powers that be feel it is better to just remove it. Their site, their rules and I know that if I don't like it I can take my toys and go home.

WTG Ernie! I'll be dropping in to see you soon!

Beautiful!

Good for you kid and I'm not the least bit surprised that you would drive to Sudbury to rescue him, heck I bet you'd even take Beans and I in if we needed a place to stay! Congrats and good on you!

Been to a few, some were good but going to Sue's company Christmas parties were hard for me. She worked for the town and I found it awkward tryng to socialize with people that had totally different intrests than I did. When I owned my own business I always tried to make it about family. We would rent a restuarant, bring the kids, presents for the kids, cash bonuses for the employes, order what ever you wanted from the menu but you bought your own booze (for legal reasons). If you wanted to drink we provided rides too and from. It was all about showing the employees and their famlies how much we appreciated what they did for us over and above the day to day stuff.

I have installed a few doors over the years, a tough job if you don't know what you are doing but not too hard if you know how. Trick is to get the door up, install the spring, adjust the pre tension, then let the door load the spring on it's way down. The big thing is knowing how to adjust the pre tension on that spring! I would be happy to help you but I just don't have the time to do it right now. Best advice, call a professional, it is worth the few extra bucks that you are going to have to pay.

I had a big long post all ready to go but I'll keep it simple: I think the OP already knew how he would like to see this end, he was just looking for moral support. A dent in the door of an old beater that doesn't affect it's operation just adds charactor (or $ in your pocket if you can blame someone)I guess it all just depends on how you look at it and how important money is to you. No one knows for sure if it was the neighbour or someone else that put the dent there, speculation is just that! Until there is proof no one should be blamed and it sure isn't worth starting a fight over. In my opinion, if it is so important that you find out who did it and get remuneration, just call the police and let them handle it, otherwise put it to rest and go have a cold one. No wonder I'm broke all the time!

An accident is an accident, we've all had them! You have already said you just want the truck to get you through the winter, will the dent in the door prevent you from doing that? So here is how I would look at it if I were in your shoes: A dent in the door is no big deal on an old beater, your neighbour had an accident which for all intent isn't really going to cost you anything! Now you can make a few bucks off this or you can make a darn good neighbour by playing it straight. They will always owe you one if you let it go but the minute you accept a dime from them you are square. Personally under the circumstances I'd be letting them apologize and telling them to not worry about it. You will come out much further ahead in the long run! Karma my friend, karma!

So very, very sad indeed! Another young life wasted for what?

Tough call for sure! Taking it to work might be a good option depending what conditions are like at work. When I worked in a small engine shop we adopted a cat that someone had dropped of along the highway. That cat loved being in the shop with us and up until we got him we had a lot of problems with mice. The cat fit right in perfectly, got to be everyones pet and sure solved the mouse problem for us. I guess it was a win win for everyone except the mice! Good luck with your decision!

Electric Start Problem - 2003 Kodiak 450......nf

Trust me, I wasn't yanking your chain LOL, I had never even heard of a water wheely but in 10 fow? I am guessing you'd need some serious snorkels. That was a neat video though, I am guessing I'll have to learn how to do that some day. Keep in mind I don't drive my bike too hard, mostly just trail riding or to go hunting most of which is just through some fields and things like that. I could probably walk anywhere I drive my bike but the bike sure makes it easier for me. -

Ya well I'm wondering what sort of snorkle I'd need for a short guy like me if I was driving my ATV around under 10 fow, my head would still be at least 4' below the surface even if I stood on the seat LOL. I did submarine my old ATV once, wasn't a good thing. It was one of those famous moments, we get to a big mud hole, everyone else stops, and I say "watch this, I'll show you how it's done!" When the guys finally stopped laughing they did throw me a rope and helped me tow it out. I'm a lot more careful with the new one LOL. -
It sure does, ask ccmt

LOL, you caught me at it Ron. It was nice to see you again. I did try to catch up with Brad by the way but he is one busy dude, everyone seemed to think he was at one of the other stores, I'll bet he was out hunting or something. If you do get a chance and it isn't too much trouble, could you see if you can get me a number where I might be able to reach him? I would really appreciate it! Just PM me if you do. Take care. Cliff

Electric Start Problem - 2003 Kodiak 450......nf

Dielectric grease is a nonconductive grease. As such, it does not enhance the flow of electrical current. Do not use it on things like trailer hitch pigtails and such. If you are goint to use it, make sure your connections are clean and tightened, then apply a coating of dielectric greas to the outside of the connection. if you want to make sure that connections don't corode, apply a light coating of battery terminal grease to the surfaces of the connection then make the connection. You could then apply a light coat of dielectric grease to the outside of that but it really isn't necessary. -
Electric Start Problem - 2003 Kodiak 450......nf

It could be as simple as that, I have a Polaris 450 Sportsman and on the left handle there is a three position switch Off/run/Off unless that switch is in the run position everything works but the starter circuit. It has happened a few times that someone or somehow that switch got moved to the off position. You jump on the bike to start it and nada. -

Jumping the solenoid is fine and it tells you that there is a problem in that circuit but the problem could be in the circuit that provides the power to activate the solenoid. If the solenoid isn't getting 12V to activate it then it can't work. I have seen several solenoids replaced when they weren't the problem LOL. -

OK, Well it could be your starter switch or it could be your solinoid. So, hook the ground lead from your multi meter to the ground on your battery. Then find your solinoid. There will be two large posts on it, one from the battery, the other goes to the starter. There will also be either one or two small posts on it. If it is one small post that will be your + from the starter switch. If there are two small posts then one will be ground, the other will be +. You need to connect the positive lead from your multi meter to the small + post on your solinoid then try to start your bike. If the multi meter shows 12 v+/1 a bit then you know your starter switch is working and your solinoid is fried. If it doesn't show 12 V +/- then there is no power coming from the starter switch. Could be a blown fuse, could be a safety interlock, could be a faulty starter switch and now you are into trouble shooting that circuit. Hope this is some help!
