I can't speak to the Lindsay locks, but we always caught fish at locks in the kawarthas into November. I'd start trying first week of October. Rapalas and live bait have always worked for me.

My new (to me) fishfinder. Anyone used one....any good?

I had an x 15. It was a good unit at the time, and I think you scored! It doesn't compare to today's offerings but still was a solid unit, and the larger screen is great! Enjoy! -
Hard to find so I put shell premium in my ATV, boat motor and all small engines. I can usually always find a shell station! Ethanol and small engines don't mix. The truck gets regular.

Another vote for the st. Croix eyecon series, I have a couple now and I love em!

I live in a small town and theft is seldom an issue, but I still lock up my important stuff. It prevents temptation, and casual theft. Planned and premeditated theft is difficult to prevent if your not around.

Check your town or cities zoning bylaw before getting a nastygram when one of your nosy neighbors decides to gripe about your boat stored outside to the city. As for outdoor storage, I've done it for years, no issues.

Power pro has been pretty good to me for abrasion resistance, and tuff line is decent too. I have some spools that i've switched around that have lasted me 6-7 seasons. I do like nanofil on a few of my pickerel rods for jigging and drifting live bait as it casts a great distance, and has great sensitivity, but i always use a fluoro leader as its useless for abrasion resistance.

I have a 96 Johnson 15 (same motor as Evinrude.) I run it 50-1 and have always done so. I would not run 100-1. I use amsoil synthetic and have very little smoke.

The used boat market is pretty flooded right now, and prices are lower than usual. Something to think about!

Glad to hear of some success in the program. I continue to hear of greater and greater numbers of Sturgeon entering the Notty. I remember a guy caught one near the mouth 25 years ago and at that time it was an EVENT! I support succesful reintroductions of native species. When it comes to throwing millions down the rabbit hole on an unsuccessful venture over a period of more than 20 years (cough.. atlantics.... cough) I agree they should switch gears and move the funds to a more succesful program.

Go for it!! It is a great place to spend a few hours with the kids/grand kids!!

I assume your going Ontario Northland, as I believe it's the last flag stop train out there. If so, that was my experience, but as I say it's been 15 years. Give them a call and they will spell it out for you, I doubt it's changed much!

ATV Decisions Yamaha Grizzly 550 or Can Am Outlander 650

I am a yammi honda or kawi guy. I own a Yamaha and a Kawasaki, both are good machines. My machine is basically a bush buggy. I subscribe to the 400cc and under train of thought, as they are just easier to move around in the bush, while still being workhorses! I don't really trail ride though, unless I am going to a fishing or hunting spot. If it where my cash, I'd go straight to the yamaha dealer! -
It's been 15 years, but the ontario northland to moosonee you just told the conducter what mile mark or river you wanted off at, and they would have the engineer stop the train. I don't recall us having to use a specific color of flag to stop them when we wanted to come back, I believe we just tied a cloth to a stick or something like that! I went up the cheepash river, it was quite the interesting experience, lots of fun!!

Remi is the man!! -
Bass pro sells a long handled rubberized net for $15. It's excellent! Good size basket, we have even had a couple of smaller incidental musky in that net. It's a great pickerel, bass and pike net, and for the price you can't go wrong!

Most resource management jobs have average salarys even out west. Starting wage for a conservation officer is relatively low in Alberta for example, compared to a job driving a truck in the patch!

Sorry to see your troubles! You seem to have had a bad run! Here's hoping the weather is kinder to you in the future!

I watched a dude sideswipe the jersey barrier at 100kph on the 401 a few weeks ago.... Just kept on going till the next exit. Wonder what he was doing....... Lucky he didn't kill someone!

There are really only 2 saws worth owning, one is a stihl, the other is a husky! I am a husky guy myself, but there is nothing wrong with a stihl! Dolmars are decent too, but there isn't really much dealer support here! Nice choice! -
At least they shot the bear so be wont have an opportunity to chew on someone else! Shame about the dog!
