  1. I've found navionics to be mostly accurate for depth. As Raf said, be careful with the obstructions though. Our family cottage is on Kashe lake, and they cover most of the obstructions but they have missed some doozies and if you hit one of them your in for a repair bill. $600 will get you a decent unit.
  2. Poor use of the English language I agree , but the guy has a point. It's always been that way though, baby steelheaders lose their minds about the fish until they've got a few years under theirs belts and realize the fish aren't going to disappear if a few are kept. I can't image what they would think if they ever saw the harvest even 20 years ago at the ganny. Probably stroke out.
  3. Most guys have lent me their plates. The last boat I bought the fella couldn't find his ownership so we towed it over to an MTO office and did the transfer there. If your concerned and don't want to mail the plate back, you could do that.
  4. It was down in Guelph.
  5. That's pretty much what they are selling.
  6. Gas, hydro, water cost me around $300-325 a month. Water bills here are as much as electricity. It's criminal. We don't use any more water than we did in our last house and it's 3x the price. We heat with a gas furnace and gas hot water heater.
  7. They have a 13'4" fishing kayak for sale at costco, complete with paddle. It's a sit on top and looks pretty decent. Seems like a decent deal for $399. In case anyone's looking.
  8. Cigarettes are a legal product. There is still crime related to the smuggling of cigarettes. There is still crime related to alcohol. It may not be in your face but it's most certainly there. I'm probably not as uneducated on the matter as you think, but feel free to believe so. I've said my piece here, I don't think I can add much more to this thread.
  9. Like I said pal, it's all the same to me. What people do in their free time doesn't bother me in the least so long as I don't have to be a part of it and they aren't harming anyone else. As for beer to relax and unwind? Yes, if you NEED it to relax and unwind then that means you have an addiction of sorts in my books. I NEED nothing to relax and unwind, and I can't imagine why someone would need a substance to do so. Nonetheless, if someone needs that crutch, I'll refer to the earlier part of my post. I don't care what people drink or smoke, so long as they aren't hurting or affecting anyone else. Lots of folks won't like that, and I get it, but there it is nonetheless.
  10. If someone need marijuana to relax, as far as I'm concerned they are a pothead, I don't care what colour their shirt is.I have crossed paths with drug users from all walks of life. From those requiring the services of methadone treatment facilities to those that smoke a joint every night to "unwind". I have also met my share of alcoholics, functioning and non. All use their habit as a crutch of some sort. Some very minor, others not so much. If someone needs a crutch to lean on, it's of no consequence to me, provided they aren't harming anyone else with their habits. I'd rather see it taxed and regulated, but there will still be crime in relation to it even then!
  11. I think he could get by with a couple of Mr. Potato head dolls to be honest. Let's not involve a noble creature like the Golden Retriever. I don't disagree with legalizing, although I can't stand potheads. I've never needed booze or drugs to alter my reality, and I don't get the draw. But if someone wants to cloud their perceptions, fill yer boots as far as I'm concerned. But if that grandstander is elected on the lets legalize pot platform, we are in huge trouble as a nation! Trouble is for that to happen the potheads would have to crawl out of their cloud of smoke, or yank their heads out of the Doritos bag and make it down to a polling station. I am genuinely curious if that will happen.
  12. I use the BPS rain bibs, had em for 8-9 years now. Great product. Used to use an old Browning goretex coat, but it was beat. Bought the lightweight BPS jacket last fall. So far so good, I'm hoping it lasts as long as the bibs have.
  13. Keep em all, that's hardly a big box and they'll all come in handy sometime. You may end up with a boat sooner or later, or you may end up getting offers to go out with someone. You never know!
  14. My name isn't Wayne, but I fish with my kids. I just bought a boat, the trolling motor battery is 1 year old, but the starting battery is an unknown. I am yanking it out and putting in a new one straight away. I don't take chances on things like that. I also wouldn't trust 10 year old batteries for a second, especially if I had a problem once already.
  15. I would keep them myself, I use deep runners for many species and if they were cheap why not. I don't get rid of a whole lot of stuff though, unless it's completely redundant due to new gear etc. I don't fish bass a lot, but when I do, cranks are my absolute favourite way to catch them.
  16. In my opinion the most reliable truck out there is a Chevy, but when we bought new at the time the design was such that my wife found too many blind spots for her. She mainly drives the truck, so we ended up with a 2010 ford. Ours only has 75k on it but so far so good. It's got a good layout, and tows anything I want with ease. As for dodge, the only good thing I can say about them is they make decent engines, most other guys I've known with them have had all kinds of issues, particularly premature wear in the front end. Your mileage may vary, but if you gave me a dodge for free it would be on kijiji the next day!
  17. Sitting on the side of my atv in the march sunshine jigging up jumbo perch. Got my fix of that today!
  18. My wife doesn't ask too many questions, but she isn't stupid !
  19. Some stories on the Internet are just that, stories!
  20. Keg horseradish is amazing!! I have made my own as well, but prefer just too buy a jar now. Excellent on a nice roast beef sandwich too!
  21. I'll be there with my kids!
  22. Warmer weather means I'm installing my new sonar this week. Can't wait!
  23. Very cool, nice work!
