  1. The had the authorities in before and was issued a warning a few years back. Their are a number of cottagers along that stretch of shore trying to claim extended "water rights"
  2. Retirement with nothing to do will just plain kill ya, Cliff. You are a doer, not a spectator. Because of my health I'm supposed to be retired Perhaps I should be slowing down some, but, you and I need to feel productive and useful. You'll be going stir crazy in a week.
  3. Seeing as Wally World is one of the key sponsors of FLW tournies, it's hard to brlieve they would be taking an anti angler stance. There's more to this news line.
  4. First, may I offer my condolences. From the sound of it, Grandma is in a better place now. As for the relation without a smidgen of sense. Depriving those dear and departed of their last vestiges of dignity in their final days. Well, that's just plain disgusting. You've been civil about it. All you can do is take the higher road. P.S. Don't be surprised iff the individual proves to be an estate vulture as well.
  5. Same at track level either side of every subway station. I used to clean that up some decades back as a "track rat".
  6. A place of dreams. YOU are one lucky man twice over. To win such as trip. More importantly your fishing partner
  7. Unless the outdoor community maintains a large and very visible presence, we will continue to be ignored while our interests are sacrificed and sold out.
  8. It's part of the "disposable world" we live in. Just toss it out. Nobody notices. Nobody cares. Prior to downsizing to an apartment, the puppies and I had a great sideline. On our morning walks we would pick up all the cans and beer empties littered all over the neighbourhood, and at regular fishing holes. That was over 1000lbs of aluminum a year. Would pick up enough beer empties in a year to pay my gas for a round trip to Florida. Truth is the problem has been around a long time, but there are more people littering and fewer caring. On a side note, the tally of beer empties to date, in the neighbourhood and fishing spots, is $175
  9. Get out with him as often as you can. Just one word of warning. Them eyes spell mischief
  10. When it first aired I was surprised. Folks there may be hospitable, but tend to keep their affairs quiet. Honest, upfront, hard working folk. A lot like the folks down east that work the lobster lines. Network must have sprung a lot of coin to get the boys to open up and show the way of life they've always known.
  11. If it had eyes and mouth, as stated, possibly something in the cuttlefish family?
  12. I think I dated her younger sister Elvis didn't have too many fans around my neighbourhood, but we loved teasing the ladies who drooled over the "Pelvis". Often at risk of severe pain.
  13. I have noticed some of the inconsistencies in the pricing, and in the quality of Timmies coffee. Hit the Timmies on the 400 service plex and it is the worst dish water I've ever tasted. Hit the Beamsville QEW Tim's and it often tastes burnt. Then there are some good outlets as well, but I don't want hit and miss quality.
  14. Nice looking peppers. What seed strain?
  15. Actually, the government does have the authority to control and manipulate your bank account, up to, and including, suspending operations and payments until reserves stabilize and to avoid a run on the bank.
  16. My pension funds were wiped out a few years back. The financial institution just does not declare the fund bankrupt, thereby avoiding a panic or public investigation. Instead they suspend payments from the fund until it stabilizes and recovers. That was 5 years back and the funds are still locked up. My other defunct pension was with a firm that went bankrupt and did the same to the pension. All we could do was take a number and get in line with the rest of the crediters. Get used to seeing this happen more and more, but don't expect big publicity til it is too late. No media company is going to risk the advertising revenue generated by the banks and insurance companies.
  17. Cast Adventures, Paul Castellano, does smaller party outings on the Niagara and L Erie.
  18. Great report. I enjoyed reading it. Congrats on the win.
  19. Mom is more than capable of putting most fellas to shame when it comes to fishin. I love to get out with her every chance I can.
  20. Glad to hear you got in some of that precious father/daughter time. Doesn't matter if you started her on fishing yesterday or 20 years back. The smiles count.
  21. Despite a few bumps along the way, sounds like a good time. Walleye sure look nice.
  22. This year, both our birthdays zipped by with out our being able to see each other and go fishing. So I booked us a date up at L Dalrymple, and rented a boat. Mom would provide a "simple" picnic basket. Even the son chose to join in. It was a great day and the rain held out till the end. Mom got the front of the boat and Rob got to sit in the stern sheets. They were able to cast spinnerbaits in every direction and attract several pike. Pike everywhere. Meanwhile I was sitting in the middle. We had a trolling motor with a cooked battery, so i beacame the human trolling motor. Would have been OK if the oars were in good repair. Mismatched in sizes, the one oar lock was loose, slipping up and down the oar. The receiver for the thole pin was missing it' s collar. It was quite the comical experience to watch me row to keep station on the fish, while also drifting harnesses. Even so I managed my new pb on crappie with a whopping 14" specimen. Later I would get a nice smallie on a harness and my ultralite rod There were lots of big sunnies and, of course, decent sized WGSF. Did I mention thaty the bass were kinda skittish? Managed all of 4 for the day. I am now whooped and pooped.
