  2. Methinks a certain township might see an opportunity to collect $15-20 ramp fees like they do in a lot of spots on Simcoe.
  3. I try to end the day on a high note with a caught fish.
  4. It was passed on from one blue jacket in my family to me, and I send it on to any blue jacket here. Lest We Forget In Waters Deep In ocean wastes no poppies blow. No crosses stand in ordered row. There young hearts sleep...beneath the wave... The spirited, the good, the brave, But stars a constant vigil keep, For them who lie beneath the deep. 'Tis true you cannot kneel in prayer On certain spot and think, "He's there". But you can to the ocean go... See whitecaps marching row on row; Know one for him will always ride... In and out... with every tide. Eileen Mahoney
  5. From a simpler and happier time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rAjcOv1JaY&feature=related And the angelic voice of Judy Durham
  6. I've caught a lot of the acts at Rama and Niagara the past few years. It's a real treat when you see a bunch of senior citizens still making music like a teenager and loving it.
  7. Saw him in Niagara a couple of years back. The performance was lacklustre. You could tell he was kinda bored singing the old tunes. Now guys like Grand Funk, Three Dog Night, Creedence and The Doobies, they are still having fun making music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3P6HXHCYVc
  8. Met up with CPH for another fine day of perchin on Sunday. Real slow start. Took us 4 hours to finally coax a steady bite. Seemed the fish had lock jaw. Poor peanut was going stir crazy cause we had not put any victims in the boat for her to chew on. Finally met Photoz, but he didn't stay long. Must have been experiencing the same poor luck. By 1, we had finally got a steady bite. Lots of dinks to keep peanut happy, and a steady supply of decent fish. Even so it was a soft bite. Most of the larger perch kept getting unbuttoned close to the boat. All in all, Steve and I had a nice day on the water, under beautiful sunny skies.
  9. Then it would only be reasonable for Hyer and Rafferty to sit as independents. It gives the NDP a black eye as these MPs choose to represent their constituents. They come off looking like heroes in their riding for taking a stand.
  10. I saw one at the fishing show last year. Made me want to cry.
  11. Does he wear Klompen?
  12. Show up at the Cenotaph on the 11th hour of the 11th day. Take the time to look into your family's past, you'll find a veteran there to remember.
  13. WTG, Cliff. I can almost taste the fresh venison hot off the grill.
  14. Some Great Big Sea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYo6KqaSd3o
  15. Sounds like another great day on the water. Gonna have to make that trip one day.
  16. Just remember to feed the wee fella fish twice a week.
  17. That little bundle of fur is a show all on her own. Making every fishing trip an adventure. She just finished her perch brekkie and back under the blankets. She's still all tuckered out from yesterday. Now that the camera recharged The necessary sink pics of our dinner guests. I think a pot of chowder is in order this week.
  18. Me and the Rockfish made the trek up to Lady S this morning to do some fine perchin. With a good foggy nip in the air, and frost on the ground, we started our morning. At the outset, things looked like it was gonna be a heavy bite for the first hour, and a few quality perch were caught. it dried up pretty fast, followed by 4 hours of dinks and short strikes. Peanut loves the dinks. They are her favourite fresh snack. She dove in after a few that we had released as well. She loves to go fishing. As the day wore down the bite picked up again, and we came up with 15 decent specimens Sadly the day had to end and we left as the sun disappeared behind the trees.
  19. Your best time would be to wait til January and 0 sap flow for the maple. lilac and pine. I
  20. What a cute little bundle May your adventures be many. maybe Iggy and Peanut will cross paths one day.
  21. Depends on the type of tree. Most hard or soft woods should be pruned when there is no sap flow. That means winter. Birch and nut trees should be pruned early spring. Fruit and flowering ornamentals can be pruned in winter with an eye to more agressive pruning just before buds set and, in the case of fruit, before applying lime-sulfur. THis is for the purposes of better fruit set and yield. Peaches or nectarines should be pruned during the bloom. Winter pruning can cause damage. Late fall/early winter is the worst time to prune.
  22. Jacks are the perfect fishing buddy. Just the right size in a boat, and just as excited as yourself to hook and land a fish.
  23. I(n the hot summer, a dog will find a shady spot to hide. However, peanut does have a PFD and she would go for a swim during our outings. Small dogs may swim, but they can't stay afloat forever. In colder weather, peanut has a coat. We are going to take her for a few ice fishing trips this year.
  24. All of my dogs loved the boat. As for fishing, well I've posted enough times about my fish theiving hound, carp retriever and companion. Peanut would get out with me more often, but some folks feel uncomfortable with her rambunctious ways. Also, an excitable dog is not always a good thing in a busy boat.
  25. I'm gonna start respooling my perch reels this week and take inventory.... That is, if I don't go fishin.
