I have two older Suzuki's and have no problems with them except for some general maintenance and I "use" these machines . If I was going to buy again I would be looking at a Suzuki and then a Yamaha .

Love the effort on that trail .X3, on the chainsaw or a quad with a winch . Heading to one of those back lakes this weekend for the end of trout season . Hope it doesn't look like your trail !

I have a couple jackets and pants that need to be treated to get there water repellency back to normal . I have done the sprays and wash ins before but they don't seem to work very well . They seem to "wet out" way to fast compared to when they were new . I know I will probably not get the repellency back to when they were new but there must be something out there that works . Anyone here like to share some ideas/techniques or products that you have personally used that worked well . Thanks

That's a beauty , you sure do have those big muskies dialed in this year . Can't wait to see what you guys are going to get in the next couple months when those gals strap on the feed bags ! Thanks for the comments guys , it sure was strange catching smallmouth and lake trout in 20 ft of water on the same small point and the same crawfish jig in the middle of August . I guess you just never know ! I am going back to the same lake in September and I will be going back to that point with a crawfish jig tied on for sure

Thanks for the read , pretty sad . I fished Eugenia years ago but have not been there since , sad to see what it looks like now but I can only imagine . I have been fishing a backwoods bass lake for years and just have discovered a lot of the surrounding land was bought up by a developer and they intend to build a "cottage complex" on it . I am not looking forward to this because I am afraid my once quiet oasis will become a lake like you describe above and full of jet skis .

Went on our annual August quad trip to Lake X a couple weeks ago with a couple friends and as always it was a blast . The night before we left I spread all the important stuff on the garage floor just to make sure I was not forgetting anything, nothing worse than working your tail off to get to lake X and discovering that you forgot your favorite/go too lure at home. I'm sure we have all been there before. A couple pictures at the trail head after the bikes are "loaded" up and a pic of the gang along a good part of the trail This time of the year we find the lake trout fairly deep (50-70ft) so the jigs are tied on , finders are juiced up and away we go . First drift through the bay we started to nail them .This one was caught on the first drop of the jig . The afternoon went on and the fishing was great with us boating around 15 lake trout and a couple smallies. The next morning the lake trout were off a bit but the smallmouth were on fire just off a point in about 20ft of water in front of an old hunt camp , This was one of the biggest I caught that morning. That night we had a lake trout shore lunch at camp , here is a pic. of my friend cleaning them up at camp. The next day started well with a couple nice lake trout but the lake trout bite tailed off quick and we resorted to the smallmouth . When we were fishing for the smallies up on the point we discovered that the lake trout were there as well in 15-25ft of water and surprisingly hitting our crayfish jigs . We caught around 10 lake trout this way , pretty crazy if you ask me . This was the bait/baits I was catching the lakers on that morning It was a great trip and I can't wait for the next one in September , hope you enjoyed !

I found a picture of my favorite lake trout bait in the last month . Touched up darter head jig , 4" gulp minnow

Ya , stay away from the snaps . As others have said lake trout are not picky when aggressive but for the amount of time it takes to tie on a jig it's just not worth it . As for the trailers , I have had very good luck with the Gulp minnows but i'm sure a live minnow would work well too .I have a couple reports a month or so ago showing my setups ! Good luck and remember they love to chase so keep that jig moving in the "whole" water column .

I do a lot of laker jigging and actually just got back from a trip . What I use is a braid main line and a 12lb fluro leader about 4ft long . I attach the leader to the main line with a good quality swivel to reduce any line twist . I tie the leader direct to the jig (less clutter on jig the better) . I wouldn't use any kind of mono , too much stretch . Even with this setup you still have to check your leader for cuts/nicks and re-tie, I lost a couple lake trout boatside this past weekend from getting lazy and not checking ! I use a baitcaster for this type of fishing , a lot better than a spinning outfit .
