Fish On-Line isn't always accurate, but they list Whitefish, Cisco and Rainbow Smelt in SML. Ciscos are usually in a school. Smelt are solitary but pretty small. I'm guessing you're marking whitefish. edit- I'd jig a small spoon or small grub on top of them and see what happens.

My photo bucket stuff just went dead. A real dirty, snake move on their part to do this IMO. Lately they have been glitchy, dead slow and a pop up ridden PITA too. Dirt bags.

HELP NEEDED: 2004 Merc 115 Optimax - Needs New Powerhead

Good advice. One cylinder with low compression doesn't necessarily mean you need a new powerhead. -
The trip of a lifetime and now we are back
chris.brock replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Looks like some good quality time with your son Cliff, sorry to hear about the disappointing surprises. I'm guessing Don put the camp description up on his website when he first got the camp then never updated it. Now the boats/ motors aren't new anymore and the pine furniture is long gone. I would send him a polite e mail. I'm sure he would appreciate the feed back. He really should revise the camp description. I've done a few fly ins, twice with MLO, different camps though, and everything was first class. RickOnt was impressed with his trip last year too. Nothing wrong with an honest report. Nice to see some pictures too. -
No. I can boat to my campsite, park the boat, set up the tent, drink, then bring my empties out the next day. I can pick up an empty beer can from my boat from a litter bug. I can go to the beer store in my boat. Wouldn't you agree jonasdry, that not allowing them to search, could escalate things because it pisses them off and they are going to be far more critical about the stuff they can check?
-
A dried out, old empty beer can isn't the same as "open alcohol in a motor vehicle". Before the Minden beer store moved, I used to take my boat to return empties and pick up beer. I was never stopped but I didn't anticipate any trouble if I was. Yes, it's the potential for things escalating if they do a search. But if you tell them they can't search, I bet they will be very finicky about the stuff they can ask to see. So, I will continue to be polite and let them search.
-
The point of the story was, I voluntarily let them come aboard and check. They find a single beer can buried below I didn't even know was there and then they get an attitude. It's kinda damned if you do, damned if you don't. If I didn't let them search I'm pretty sure they would have gotten an attitude too. And yeah, I think a boat on Lake Windermere is a little different than a beer can under a car seat driving down the 401.

My son's first Nipissing trip aka topwater and metal
chris.brock replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
Lots of beauty smallies for not a lot of fishing time, nice! I didn't know Nip could pump them out like that. -
I let 2 CO's come aboard and search my boat on Lake Windermere near Chapleau. They found a single empty beer can below the deck in a rubber maid and they said my buddies coffee mug smelt like booze. I didn't think we were going to hear the end of it. They went on and on and threatened to write us tickets.

NF Trent Lakes Waste Management ...getting ridiculous
chris.brock replied to buckhorn250's topic in General Discussion
Yes. People reading this probably think we are exaggerating, but it was literally hand your garbage bag to a black bear, the garbage bag wouldn't touch the ground. -

I think scavenging is very good too. Reuse, re purpose, keep it out of the landfill. Why not. It was ok to scavenge at the Minden dump until someone grabbed a toaster, took it home and it set their house on fire. Then they had the audacity to sue the county. Now there's no scavenging allowed. Dump related but not relevant, has anyone been to the dump south of Chapleau back in the day? I've never seen so many bears. You basically hand your garbage bag to a bear. -
I think that would be a smart move if you're ok with the odd hassle and headache. I rented houses to students for 15 years until I had enough of the headaches. It can be lucrative. PM me if you think I could help.

Where I live in Oakville near Sheridan College, house prices were going up by $1000 a day this past winter! It was Chinese investors, individuals and companies, buying the houses sight unseen. The foreign buyers tax came in April. People who recently bought houses took a hair cut. I'd be careful making a move right now, wait until things stabilize.

Obvious things like lights or the radio. Are the connections tight on the battery? Is there a volt meter on the dash? edit- What engine is on that boat?

Great report. That's a trip I want to do someday.

A small claim is only a drive to the courthouse and $75 away so don't sweat it. -

The fish I stole off Brad was taped, it was 41". D Man's fish was in a different league, significantly larger. CP 24 is running a story on D Man's pike. -
The link DanD gave is a good one. From your criteria, it sounds the French River would be a good area to look at. If a place catches your eye, it's a good idea to get some feed back from the people here before you actually pull the trigger and give a deposit.

I hear ya. I think the main complaint though, like the OP said, is the waste management guy's inefficiencies and counter productive practices. Not really relevant but kinda interesting, -I've seen them bulldoze a pile of recyclables (plastic bottles and metal cans) right into the landfill. I guess they didn't have the capacity for it. - I've heard the stuff going into the landfill isn't decomposing like it once did because the organic stuff isn't mixed in with it, it's separated in the green bin program. -

I feel the same. I just tried to drop off 120 L of used engine oil I've saved up from oil changes. The attendant said I am only allowed 20 L. So they want me to come more often for a 40 minute drive and make even more emissions? I recycle and compost all I can but my bi- weekly curb pick up quota isn't enough. I now have to buy 133 L contractor garbage bags. So it costs me more money to take out the trash and more plastic ends up in the landfill. A loose/ loose situation. It's a good recipe for people to dump stuff in the ditch and burn stuff they shouldn't be burning. -
I think Montreal initiated and made the PK trade because he was disruptive and toxic to the team's chemistry, on and off the ice.
