  1. Yes. From what I understand, the slots are different because they think Balsam is different compared to the lakes down stream and in the rest of the Kawarthas. I dunno, that's what they say.
  2. Pike and walleye are better suited to those lowland, dishpan lakes I guess. Brookies just occupy a different niche.
  3. His heart's in the right place but I think his logic is a little off. Funny, he's talking about not enough water, meanwhile this spring it's time to build an ark. Looks like someone is using yellow perch for bait too, lol.
  4. I think the odds are very slim to discover an unknown brook trout lake in the James Bay lowlands. It's not the right habitat. Even if it did exist, with all those logging roads around, word would have gotten out. I would try and explore the fast water sections of the rivers.
  5. My favorite spring flatlining spoon is also the 3/4 oz Cleo. I think they work well because they are heavier and will get down to the 8' to 12' range. For jigging, white tubes or a white paddle tail like a swammer.
  6. Beauty for sure! Good start man.
  7. Don't get discouraged Bunk. Coming from a guy that has similar interests, I love hearing about the crap you do and the "wild life" you live. I've got a little guy at home. I love seeing him everyday, he adds so much to my life. I wish he was awake right now and sitting beside me. It won't be long until we're traipsing through the bush together on our way to a back lake. But right now I don't have the freedom I did before. It's hard when I'm getting emails and texts from friends about their fishing adventures. I pulled the plug on your FB group because of the constant bombardment of fish pictures, meanwhile I wasn't fishing. I was going to start pulling my hair out. When I first discovered OFC it was Bunk and Solopaddler that stood out. The stuff you guys do, you guys were accessible for questions and would chime in on crap, always well written and polite. dill a gaf and Billy Bob also stood out back then. I'm lucky enough to be going on a Solopaddler adventure next week and can't wait. If things work out, we're hoping to do an extended camping trip this summer. A mobile trip, break camp everyday and drive a couple or few hours and keep moving. I'm leaning towards heading NW but if we head E, I want Bunk at the campfire one night.
  8. I'm a Humminbird guy. I like my Helix 5. The Helix 5 GPS is $390 at Sail so it's under your budget.
  9. Those are creek chub. Good you got out and posted a report. Nice job!
  10. You make the playoffs, anything can happen. I don't think the Sens are now a force in the east. The Isles or Bolts could have had the same story with a few bounces. After the Preds swept the Hawks, my buddy put down $500 on the Preds in Vegas. It pays $3500. That's interesting but I'm just looking forward to October hockey. Go Leafs!
  11. Great stories and adventures Mr Bunk. I'm always leery about taking possession of stuff like the merman. Sometimes those things just don't harmonize well in their new home. I miss Selfmade's input here. You're living the "wild life" for sure, thanks Bunk!
  12. Sounds like a good deal/ good product Rattletrap. Just curious, what's the logic behind they only count as a PFD if they are being worn?
  13. Welcome back. I've fished out of Rainbow Camp for many years, the same week you are planning to go. PM me for a couple of tips if you want. Great scenery, great owners, you're going to have fun. Say "Hi" to Noella.
  14. turned it off after 2 goals? 12 minutes into the game? wow
  15. By calling it "random lure of the month" it sounds like a single lure (not 4 or 5), you might want to change that
  16. Nay, sounds like fun but sounds like a scam.
  17. Fun times, if the Sens win the cup the people in Ottawa are gonna BURN THE CITY DOWN BABY! or they'll just drift off to sleep while watching CPAC
  18. I am posting this for a friend. He bought a 22' boat, he keeps it at Fifty Point. He wants to have his 4 downriggers on the back. Is there anyone that does custom work like this? He is thinking he needs a plate to go across the back of the boat with short pedestals to mount the downriggers on. Thanks in advance.
  19. JMO but I would say buy a Curado. It's not beneficial to go cheaper on a bait caster.
  20. so now stats and winning all of a sudden matter, damn, I'll throw this up again Playoff RecordEdit Maple Leafs Senators Season Round Result 1999-00 Conference Quarterfinal Toronto 4-2 2000-01 Conference Quarterfinal Toronto 4-0 2001-02 Conference Semifinal Toronto 4-3 2003-04 Conference Quarterfinal Toronto 4-3
  21. Lookin' great Simon. Very cool technology. Is that "follow me" mode when you're boating with speed through the narrows?
  22. It's cool the 6 spd manual is becoming more common compared to the old stuff like 3 on the tree and 4 speeds. I rented a Cruze auto on a trip. I got way crappier mileage than you because it was a rental and after every stop light I would put the pedal to the floor to feel the lag and then the turbo kick in. My wife probably got whiplash. I liked it. Very refined but a very fun car to drive.
