  1. Since you will be new to it, it's extra dangerous if you're not comfortable and confident on the bike. Carrying a passenger is harder, more dangerous and less enjoyable IMO. Do you have any buddies with a cruiser you could try out on a deserted country road?
  2. I've researched Onaping before and couldn't find much information. I'm guessing if the fishing was crazy good there would be more stuff online. The 25 Mile camp looks like a good area to be in. The walleye will probably be deep. I would try to find them on the sonar then jig or troll crankbaits. I would also try trolling shallower after dark. Good luck! I'm looking forward to your report.
  3. These guys make a bunch of stuff. https://www.titelok.com/ They make some small, aluminum ones that clamp on for about $35 that might work.
  4. The OP said he wanted a not too expensive suit, I don't know why you guys are talking 100 mph and Guidewear. I have an older Wetskins suit from Costco (I think it was $50) and for the money it's been great. I use the pants even when it's not raining to break the wind when it's fairly cold.
  5. Nice job Mikey! The interviewer sounds like she lives in TO and has no clue about this stuff, hahhaha
  6. Rick, did you get these photos off PB and onto imgur and Flickr or did you use the raw image?
  7. <blockquote class="imgur-embed-pub" lang="en" data-id="a/qKqvG"><a href="//imgur.com/qKqvG">Bass</a></blockquote><script async src="//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script> https://i.imgur.com/szjepkR.jpg oops, that didn't work
  8. The ones that you have moved, have you tried to do anything with them other than view them? I tried to move mine to other photo sites and it wouldn't work. I think coming off PB they are changed and not the same as the raw image that was uploaded. I wouldn't be surprised if PB did this on purpose.
  9. I think it's only a matter of time before the lights go out for good with PB. I refuse to pay so my PB account won't do third party hosting. I have a report on Mike's site and all the photos were toast. I tried to move my album to Mike's PB. I'm not the best with tech stuff but I spent a lot of time trying and I couldn't do it. I had to find all the pictures again on memory cards, upload them again and redo the report. It was tedious and not fun at all. Maybe some tech guys can fairly easily move all those pictures and back them up? I'm thinking now is the time to do that though. There's a chance everything could be lost. Dave and Rick, you guys are downloading albums off PB, have you tried upload them to another photo site? Mine were buggered up and wouldn't work.
  10. I've got a few ideas but I won't mention them here. Hopefully some of those small business guys and hobbyists are loose cannons. This is extortion. From now on nobody will trust them with anything valuable. They obviously don't have a business plan for longevity. They're extorting money while they can. PB is a sinking ship.
  11. That doesn't sound like a lake that warrants an outpost camp. Like others have said, how does that lake not freeze solid or run out of oxygen in the winter? Hopefully you guys made the best of it, sounds like you did.
  12. http://www.chch.com/sewage-discharged-niagara-river/ I saw this on my local CHCH news this evening. I guess all the details aren't available yet. I'm not a big fan of the mantra "the solution to pollution is dilution". I'll likely be drinking this stuff later this week.
  13. They've been around for quite a while. I dismissed them as a gimmick. $12 is steep. They're usually a buck or 2 more than a regular dozen worms.
  14. A dirty, dirty move. I hope this backfires and they go out of business. When PB started- Hey, we're good and we're free, come use us! PB now- We suck but we have your pictures hostage and we're holding them for ransom, but have a great day!
  15. Nice recap, some beauty fish, and some scenic landscape pics. This past winter I also had the rare occasion when the lake was glare ice, hard and smooth. I agree, when that happens, screw fishing. Strap the blades on, slap the puck and go chase it.
  16. Exactly. The FOI Act is a good thing. Newspapers and reporters can uncover lots of hidden snakes and corrupt crap using the FOI. This guy is abusing the system to try and find a few fishing spots, but the gov't employees still have to adhere to the law, like it or not.
  17. I know what you're saying, but those spring brook trout guys can be a passionate bunch. They'd go to the moon if they thought the mother load of brookies was there. In some of Mike's other posts, he said he got bombarded with guys asking where he was in the park. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
  18. That's exactly what I said on FB, hahaha, Mike doesn't think it would work but it's only $5 for an FOI request, why not try? At least it might bog things down.
  19. Back in the day we used to eat them quite often and they are good. I'd bring some oil, cut the fillets into chunks, batter, heat the oil on the fire and deep fry'em.
  20. I had a summer job where we would net and electro shock fish. I would take the odd one home for my aquarium. No, it wasn't legal but no harm, no foul. Another cool one I remember having was a small, native catfish called a Tadpole Madtom.
  21. I've kept Brown Bullheads in an aquarium before. They're very tolerant and easy to feed. Mine would just eat table scraps. The hardest fish I found to feed were the Esocids. They would only eat a live fish of the proper size. The craziest fish I had was a Green Sunfish. It would constantly harass the other fish in the tank and bite their scales off.
  22. Yes it is. There's a bit of an elephant in the room on this thread. I think the fines are ok for a first offence, but I hope the system works in a way that if they get charged again for similar stuff, they will get crushed.
  23. I might be wrong but I think the brookie stocking is done. They still stock Browns. I would guess a lot of them just end up feeding the other fish species. I've only caught small muskies above Kinmount over the years but reliable sources say there's some elusive giants in there. Years ago a kid jumped off the bridge in Kinmount for a swim and was beaten up pretty good by a large muskie.
  24. Sometimes the outfitters get a cancellation and they've got planes going in and out on either end of the week, so they offer discounts and try to fill the hole. Trident Lake, pike, walleye and brook trout, July 29 to Aug 5. $600 plus tax, minimum 4 people. If someone's interested, here's a Trident trip report to sort of see what it's like. http://www.canadafishingguide.net/trident-lake-outpost-a-brook-trout-bonanza/
  25. Mistinikon eh, were you guys fishing near a bridge? Good story. I still enjoy fishing the Kawartha dam circus in the fall for something to do, and nostalgia. Lots of funny stories. Last year my Dad was down on a pier and a guy was fan casting over his head. Also last year I was fishing vertical and a guy's float from 50' away was in front of me when I snapped (also with my Dad). Fishing and being outdoors is better when people say Hi and chat and hangout together without crap like this.
