  1. Curious - how many of you northern guys have studs on your winter tires? I know they're legal up there (and not here). Do you use them? If so, I assume the differnece is night and day?
  2. Bought a set of snow tires on tirerack.com that saved me > $400. Ordered them online and htey were delivered to my doorstep in less than a week.
  3. So jealous (somehow really cold is still fine if you're out on the lake).
  4. Ha! Had never heard of that. Awesome.
  5. Yep, you got me. You're so smart, Dr S. Here's my point -- even if they're not as snow savvy as you, there were a bunch of families (some with little kids, i assume) stuck there all night.....and it was pretty cold last night. I wouldn't be making fun of them.
  6. Major hwy that sees high volume. Plus that area is 3+ hrs away from Toronto. Its not "the big city".
  7. I'm pretty sure that area is smack dab in the middle of a major snow belt (like Barrie). Probably pretty accustomed to snow.
  8. Dara -- i don't know the details, but when we had our home inspector (who as far as i can tell did an excellent job) he said that if we find anything in the next year that he didn't catch to call him and he'll check it out. He even volunteered that he (or his insurance company more likely) is on the hook if something happens in the next year (i think, not positive on timeline).
  9. I think its news people making it seem important/newsworthy more than "torontonians" in general. Also, like Dave said -- snow impacts dense cities differently. A moderate snowfall can turn a 20 min drive into a 2hr drive. Not kidding.
  10. I'm with Roy. I stay off until the ice is good and thick. Ice may be 6 inches where you measure it, and then be much thinner in an adjacent area where there's current, thicker snow, a sprinng, etc. Why kill yourself?
  11. I hope you had floater suits on.
  12. do fish do that? I always thought fish were unlike us in that way -- that're healthy reproducers until the end.
  13. Curious - do the lindy and salmo lures have different action? I know they have rattles but otherwise thought they were exactly the same. (and quite a knock-off job)
  14. what colours and sizes guys?
  15. The natural light is terrible with plasmas. All you'll see is glare. Unless you're in a basement with no windows, don't get a plasma.
  16. no idea about LED but btwn LCD and Plasma it'd be LCD for me.
  17. What size/colours? Want to sell them?
  18. Eat lots of garlic or onions -- stimulates the immune system. Gargle listerine or salt water to kill stuff in your throat. Drink warm fluids. Get sleep.
  19. That's a giant. Interesting that its exactly 0.5 inches longer and fatter than the last "biggest live-release fish".
  20. Wow - i'll give them a call. Was actually going to buy in the US because Blizzaks for my car are $1400 here (not including rims).
  21. Maybe just me but I don't like the whole concept of everyone running around with big needles and sticking them in fish. Like Wayne said - if you do fish that deep be prepared to eat them. My read (and its just a guess, i don't actually know) is if the bass are that deep they're balled up for the winter anyway....which is probably why they're not in season in the winter (would be like shooting fish in a barrel if you can find them).
  22. Those look like awesome baits. I especially like Texas Tea on your facebook site.
  23. I haven't used him personally, but have friends who really like Chris Chenoweth at Kuretsky Vassos (not positive on spelling). Apparently he is a bulldog.
  24. any pics? (or a website link with same)?
  25. This board is full of hall monitors!!! Nice fish Kwan. How do you cook the catfish? I've never had one.
