  1. Awwweee.....come on Cliff, Christine McGee is my hero! Well at least she was before she sold the company several years back. Actually both our beds (at home, and up North are from there and no problems whatsoever. The one up North was bought in Brampton and shipped to the Orillia area to a trailer park without any problems. I think it depends more on the store. My Daughter and Son-in-Law had nothing but Nightmares dealing with Leon's, yet Lew loves the place and had no problems!
  2. A few years back, I scanned a copy of my vessel registration and printed it out on a colour printer. I had it laminated at Staples to keep it waterproof. I now carry this document, my pleasure craft operators card, and fishing licenses! I carry the trailer ownership with the tow vehicle. Starting to be a real pain on a hot summers day when all you want to do is jump in the boat with a bathing suit on to go fishing! I have very limited dry storage space.
  3. Irishfield has some good tips for you to look at there! Another thing you can do is look for any stickers and such on the power head (main body of the engine). See if any of these stickers are discoloured or melted. It could indicate a case of over heating at some point. Compression is very important on small engines. Don't take it too lightly! Good luck! The first boat i bought was a 1956 5 1/2 H.P. Johnson on an old 12 foot tin boat. I saw it start and run in a water filled drum. The guy wanted cash, but al I had was a cheque. I told him I would bring him the cash the following Friday and he could hold the cheque until then. This gave me a chance to take it back out to the lake and give it a good run. That little boat and motor was great for $500. The seller was on a reserve and I guess he didn't want to show an income. I heard the ad on a "Buy and Sell" radio show. It was a good deal all around and a good memory! I wish i still had it, but had to give it up to purchase the next one a few years later.
  4. Nice looking machine you got there. Looks like it has all the toys you could ask for on it. Enjoy!
  5. My condolences Fisherman. Sounds like she had a great life and was really someone special. I am taking my own 88 year old Mother to the hospital tomorrow morning for hip replacement surgery!
  6. My condolences Stoty. Sorry for your loss.
  7. Good stuff Gord! Not a Bass, but sure beats nothing! Glad the boat is running good and at least you got out there. Are the docks in yet?
  8. Just like you Ron, i also got my start in Angling at Gore's Landing on Rice lake! It has been almost 30 years since I fished that lake, but it still holds a special place in my heart. Keep up the fantastic work you are doing. The lake will surely appreciate it!
  9. Thanks for the report and that really is an awesome looking property you have there. Nice to be right on the beach like that.
  10. Yep, with all the long guns registered and everyone having their "Boat Operators Card", I have never felt safer! NOT! Lew, we were taught common sense when our parents lead by example. My Dad always pointed out common courtesy to others when we were in the boat and it is just something we live by today. We follow the rules and look out for one another. Somewhere along the way, our society has lost this. Regardless of who has the right of way in a channel, common courtesy has to prevail and those Cops (blasting off in a pack of small boats) that acted like that should be dealt with for their stupidity! Plain and simple!
  11. Very nice! Quite the shock if you were expecting suckers....and along comes that beast! Like others have said, that really is the fish of a lifetime. Not everyone can say they have caught one! I certainly could not.
  12. Spawn for Bass is definitely early and way ahead of schedule this year. I found newly hatched Small Mouth Bass this AM, and Large Mouth Bass are all on beds and should be hatching any day now. Water temps were 67 to 68 deg.F and thats all that matters to them. They don't follow calendars! LOL
  13. lipp, What do you mean "they use that lake for the locks"? Dalrymple is pretty much landlocked and is not connected to the Trent. The Head river flows out of the North end of Lower Dalrymple, but that should have no effect on the locks in the Trent system.
  14. Strange, I was thinking the very sam thing this morning. I wondered where CCMT and Bly had got to. I figured something was up, but must have missed it. If you are out there guys, chime in every once in a while! As for GCD, I understand he is on Sabbatical? Hope to see him back here soon....even if he is a crap disturber! LOL
  15. Covers Unlimited 905-451-3346 99 West Drive, Unit B Brampton, ON. L6T 2J6 www.coversunlimited.ca I would highly recommend Greg. He will custom make any type of cover you like, and is very reasonable. You drop the boat off in the morning, and it is ready at days end!
  16. Place is looking real nice Lew! Every day is an adventure, isn't it? I guess Marvin is enjoying all the new scents to sniff at as well? I'm sure he will enjoy it more than sniffing garbage.
  17. Very interesting Victor! Thanks for sharing & safe travels!
  18. I've had both Power drive electronics, and now cable steer. In my opinion, the Power Drive motors are toys. The cable steer models are much more rugged. If you did want to control the motor from elsewhere in the boat, then you would have no choice but to go with the electronic versions. But, if you like to fish up front on the bow, then cable drive all the way! I have never owned Motor Guide, but I'm sure they are equally as good as Minn Kota.
  19. Beautiful looking car Dan. I feel for your loss. Insurance can't replace the countless hours you and your son put into that pride and joy!
  20. Looks like Bear scat to me Lew. We had it (of all places!) on the deck beside our bedroom window! last year. It appeared on several occasions. I washed it away, and it was back within a few days. Strangest thing we ever could of imagined. It was full of berries and such. Nothing this year.
  21. Happy Birthday Joey! Have a great day!
  22. Absolutely beautiful fish guys! Mind if I ask what you were using to catch them?
  23. John, I can't help you with your specific problem, but last week, I closed my door on the recycle bin! I had the torque turned all the way up from the winter when it is difficult to close the door when there is snow under it. Needless to say, it made a hell of a racket and no longer functioned. I tried all of the adjustments for travel and torque, but to no avail. The door would only travel about 8 inches and then reverse. I called the technical support folks and they were fantastic. Spoke to a guy named Anthony in Tucson, Arizona and we went over several items. He told me to go home, pull the cover off and call him back as I had called from work. They are open from 5am to 6 pm PACIFIC time. This gave me till 9 pm our time!!! I went home, had a closer look inside and found the interrupter cup for speed sensing had shifted out of place. Fixed this and set things up. It works great again. My point of all this is that they have fantastic customer service and support!!! The opener is a 1/2 H.P. Liftmaster by Chamberlain. They also made some for Sears Craftsman. If i ever had to buy another, this is the one I would buy...hands down! The quality of the thing is very good. Mine is a belt drive model. Good luck with yours!
  24. My dual bank charger is connected with each bank feeding each of the batteries separately. The batteries then have a large gauge "jumper" installed between the negative of the first and the positive of the second as shown in Dan's diagram. Works fine! A 24 volt motor will operate on 12 volts, just not very well! The nice thing about the Maxxum series is that they use heavy duty foot pedals. They have rugged switches and should not be a problem like they were on the electronic versions.
  25. Nice report Youngone! Looks like a great trip despite the weather.
