Asparagus is one of the neat things we do have in our flower garden! It just comes up "wild" every year. We don't harvest it. It grows into a small tree that adds lots of greanery and looks really cool!

Bernie, are you talking about "gets eaten right in the patch" by you, or by critters? lol My biggest fear about making a garden here at our place is that the rabbits will be the ones to benefit! I'm sure I would do all the work, but just be feeding the critters!

MisterG, Another point on this matter is that some trailer parks are also heavily into the "New" trailer sales business. Hence, the restriction on age. They prefer to keep their precious sites to sell new trailers to put on them.

I was extremely fortunate to be invited to a private party there last Spring. This Company rented out the whole place from 6pm to 10 pm and provided free food and drinks. Most of the people attending were drawn to the free bar....so I had the place virtually to myself for the evening! Awesome experience!

Good point Dan! As far as registering goes, you just need to state the colour and number of axles. Pretty simple!

Rav4 Owners - Input Needed - NF - UPDATED!!!

I don't think you will touch one for $15,000 though. Especially a 2010 and up, unless it has very high kilometers on it. Good luck though! -

I have an older 2003 Rav4 with the 2.0L engine. I only have 194000k in those 11 years, but I love it! I live in the snow belt and this thing goes through anything. The AWD hurts a bit on mileage. I get about 11L / 100k highway. I'm 6' 1" and find it very comfortable. One of the most stable solid vehicles I have ever driven. Friend has a newer, larger V6 and no issues with it either. -

Cliff, did you not also go through hell with a Nissan pick-up truck a number of years back? -
It might be a holiday to you but it's Christmas to me!

Our friends in Caledon East had the pole on their property snap in half on Saturday. They have been down since then with a couple of small generators going. They have a large Diesel generator on its way today. They don't expect to have power restored until January 6th! They even paid an Arborist company to come in last summer and clear the trees along their hydro lines. They have three poles coming in from the road, but the tall trees still came down on them.

Vaughan power outage. Will my water heater work?
Rattletrap2 replied to fisher's topic in General Discussion
Depends on the model. If it is the old conventional type with a standing pilot, then it will still fire. If it is power vented with an ignition system and ventor motor...not so much! In my case, I have the old style, but my water is pumped from a well. I'm out of luck! Also, if I shower in the basement, I would have no waste pump to pump it up to the septic. Screwed again! -
A fall from grace (the Duck Dynasty)

I'm actually a big fan of the Robertson Family! I enjoy their antics and happen to think Phil has some very astute comments and ideas on life. I don't agree with everything they say or do, but overall, I find them refreshing on TV. I think Phil has every right to his opinions. A&E can't have it both ways. Either they want their 14 million viewers every week....or they don't. With Phil, you get what you get. I somehow doubt he is about to be anything other than himself. I admire his family for standing by him. I don't consider myself a deeply religious man by any stretch, but I enjoy their family get togethers at dinner time....scripted or not. Probably why I enjoy listening to Al Linder at the end of his show. He does not push it on us, just throws it out there because he can. I respect Al Linder, and because of this, i listen to what he has to say. -
Great Post Paul! You forgot to mention your very helpful nature! I'm sure you have helped a lot more than just myself over the past year. Many thanks to the Mods as well. I imagine there are many ups and downs with these message boards, but we do appreciate what you do! Merry Christmas to all!

Service Canada....definately not fishing...
Rattletrap2 replied to lookinforwalleye's topic in General Discussion
Hey, for what it's worth, The Service Ontario outlet in Alliston (Dickies) is excellent! I have had nothing but wonderful service there the past several visits. -
So far, that seems like the most reasonable explanation. They claimed that the bullets fired from Oswalds rifle were a totally different type than the hollow point one that killed JFK. The three empty cartidges found in the school book depository were explained as one empty that was left in the chamber was ejected and to load the two others that were fired. One of those went right clean through the back of his neck. The other one, they believed hit the concrete beside the car and ricocheted. The fatal shot exploded on impact and was likely fired from the Secret Service Officers Automatic rifle. Oh, and I watched the Appollo landing on the moon in July of 1969 and do not believe it ever happened.

I was only 4 years old, but I very clearly remember sitting on the floor in front of the old TV and my Mother was crying her eyes out. It is still a very vivid memory for me and I have been spellbound by the events surrounding his death ever since. A sad day indeed. I read whatever I can find on the subject and i have seen most of the movies and specials with their individual "takes" on the events of the faitful Dallas day.

Simon, I've serviced mechanical equipment for over 30 years. It was never my own business, but I treated it as such. If I screwed up on an estimate, I paid with my time. Just the way it is. If I thought there could be hidden issues, I would level with you first and explain exactly what my plan was to fix it. I would always let you know about anything unexpected up front and make sure you were still okay to proceed. Communication is key in these situations. Adding almost 50% to an estimate is not! Good luck!

I've sold a couple of vehicles and my boat recently. All of them had ads placed on Auto Trader, Kijjii, and Craigslist. I can't believe how many people want to negotiate a price without even looking at the item. I could understand it if they came out and looked first, then wanted to negotiate. I've waited around for people who couldn't get their s&%t together enough to even show up when they said they would. I sold a van a few months ago and the first caller I had, was the one to take it. We did negotiate a price over the phone in that case and he was true to his word. He also told me that he appreciated me being true to mine. He said the truck was everything I claimed it was and he was pleased with the deal. In this case, he was a long ways from me and was tied up with work for a week or so. He said he would take it site unseen for the price we agreed to, but didn't expect me to wait for him. Turned out the others were so screwed up that it just worked out that it was still available when he got back from his out of town job. I think items of a lower value (under $1,000.00) might be easier.
-
That really sucks! In my opinion, a deal is a deal. If he got into the work and found other issues, he should have contacted you to get approval to proceed. If he just under estimated his labour, it is on him. You win some, you lose some. Depending on the make and age of your machine, that price of $596 could have pushed things past the point of you even wanting to proceed with any repairs versus replacement of the entire unit. Seems like a poor way of conducting business.

LOL! Any time I have things like old furniture and stuff, I place it out at the road with a "FREE" sign on it. I always get a kick out of quickly it disappears.
-
Very nice Simon, but please keep it up there for a bit longer. I am no where near ready for that yet! In fact, I don't know if I'm ever going to be ready for it! lol

This one makes sense....but the Niagara on the Lake one puzzles me a bit. I know its a "touristy" area, but didn't think the area would be the best choice for one of their stores. Of course the one on Universal Drive in Florida is kinda the same thing and seems to do well. I guess this is why they don't bother to consult me for my opinion on new locations! lol
