  1. I can tell you this........ we have a 2004 FWD Pontiac Vibe (Toyota Matrix) with snow tires and it has been stuck in the driveway twice this year. I also have a 2003 Toyota Rav4 also with snow tires and so far, it goes through anything. We live in a snow belt and any amount of wheels driving with good tires won't help you if the car is bottomed out on snow! What you need is ground clearance as well and the Rav4 certainly beats the FWD in that department.. My next vehicle will be AWD for sure.
  2. Very nice! Better than any TV fishing show I have seen lately!
  3. Wow, it sure is! Lots of good sensible info. Thanks
  4. Always good to hear when a company comes through for the consumer! These are the folks we need to support so they stay in business!
  5. Very interesting..... and very real. My old boat towed like the version without the tongue weight. It was extremely difficult to correct. I had to shift the batteries forward for towing.
  6. What about Trombly's in Orillia? They used to sell minnows but I have not been in there in years.
  7. Absolutely Awesome! Both the fishing.....and the cooking!
  8. Now that's fishing! I could really handle some of that right about now! Thanks for sharing and fantastic gopro filming as well.
  9. Simon, what motor do you have on your Escape? I went in to the show with every intention of getting the console, but opted out in exchange for more floor space. Who knows, but I hope the decision works out for me. I don't plan to ever get another boat. This one should last me!
  10. Yessir, that's him! Good job guys!
  11. Looks like ordering one direct from tiny tach might be the best option. I'll try the place Fisherman mentioned in Mississauga too.
  12. Pretty good Lew that Yamaha has one made with their name on it. If it was only $40 - $50, that would be great.
  13. I had an old Eagle 7200 graph that would randomly shut down for no apparent reason. It was long out of warranty and I went in to talk to Ron about what he would recommend as a new replacement. He said this should never happen and he called Eagle/Lowrance to arrange for me to take the unit into their office in Mississauga. They told me to choose whichever unit I wanted within the same range of unit. Replacement was no charge! I chose a Lowrance X-60 with speed and Temp. For this reason, I remain loyal to the brand. Ron could have easily sold me something else, but chose to go to bat for me. I will never forget Ron or the company for that. I never even knew the man prior to that visit. Speaks volumes about his character though.
  14. Thanks Fisherman! That's more like it!
  15. Got to wondering this week, does anyone know what happened to Ron Agnew? He used to manage the old Fishing Plus store on Ronson Drive in Etobicoke before it changed to JB's. He was also somehow involved with Bob Izumi i think. He was a great guy to deal with while he managed the store. i just wonder if he is in the fishing industry somewhere today?
  16. The prices on Amazon.ca are just nuts for the Tiny Tach! $178.00 CDN and up!
  17. Thanks guys! I have never seen them in any of the stores, but I'm assuming they can be found online? Would it just mount under the cowl on your tiller Spiel?
  18. Has anyone installed an hour meter on their outboard motor? If so, what did you get, and any other details would be appreciated. Thanks
  19. Simon, How did you go about taking tackle with you? especially the rod? Can you give me some details about what tackle you took? I'm thinking of doing something similar. Thanks
  20. Paul, I never really got to know either you or Joanne personally, but always enjoyed both of your posts and adventures over the years. I am very saddened by this loss and you have my deepest condolences. I never even knew She was ill. So sorry. Brian
  21. I see they have a 705 phone number. Anyone know where they are located?
  22. Sorry, but what exactly is "fishbum" clothing? Never heard of such a thing!
  23. I'm not quite sure how to take your comment MisterG about my being too hold to tilt a 40 HP! lol Even if it might be true!!!. I'm not sure it was even an option on the Yamaha tiller. I saw it on the 50 HP. To be honest, the people working the Yamaha booth at the boat show when I was there were useless! One guy tried to show me the hydro assist on the 50 power trim.... and deducted that it must be broken! It was power tilt/trim! Their brochure and website don't seem to offer much more on engines in the mid- range sizes.
  24. Great info Fisherman. I saved it! Thanks
