  1. That is one fantastic trip report! Both the story and the photos! NFLD is definitely on our list of places to see. I was fortunate enough to get to see some of BC a few years ago on my companies dime and was awestruck at the beauty we saw there. I had no idea what we had in this great country. My friend from Asheville NC was traveling with us and he has traveled extensively all over the world. He told me that nothing compares to the beauty we saw in British Columbia! In 2014 we went to New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and Cape Breton for about 23 days and found out the opposite side of the country is every bit as beautiful. We all know some fabulous people that come from NFLD, so it goes without saying that it is next on my list! This post just confirms that we need to see it! Thanks for sharing!
  2. Interesting! I finally gave in and tried braid on a few reels late last year and now this year too. I am liking the Suffix 832. I have noticed the fading and have my jumbo black marker (Thanks KVD!) but have not tried it yet. I do use a Fluoro leader for finesse fishing or really any slow presentation. Like Misfish, I tie the braid straight to Spinner Baits. I think any fast reaction type presentation does not need the low visibility leader. The old Spider wire braids from 20 years ago were horrible for breaking down of the wax like coating on the line. This is what scared me off from using them. The new lines are way better now.
  3. Mr. B, those pictures are mesmerizing! It is a beautiful place indeed. I think I know the access points you mentioned as I pass there often going to Kitchener. The Brown Trout has to be one of the most beautiful fish that swims around these parts!
  4. Welcome back!! This place is like the Hotel California! "You can never really leave"!! lol
  5. Yes, if it is new from a dealer, they should register the boat and install the numbers on the hull. If there is a trailer involved, they should get the plate for that as well unless you already have a trailer plate for it.
  6. Wow!!! seriously Terry? Congrats!!! Must be EARLY retirement?
  7. Good thing fishing ain't a beauty contest huh?
  8. Sinker, Thanks man! It seems so much easier to post pictures now? I guess things improve in 4 or 5 years! lol I got no excuses left now!
  9. Boys, it has been a long, long time since i posted a fishing report, so bare with me. (I can't even remember how!) My Daughter Amanda and I try to get out whenever we can....usually for Father's Day...especially when I was boatless and we had to rent one. Well, all that changed last year and things have been getting better ever since! This was a couple of weeks ago, and we went up to Georgian Bay for the day. I forgot how awesome that area can be to fish and I have already been back once since this trip! Just like an addict....I'm hooked! We started out right off the bat and Amanda picked up a real decent Large Mouth on a drop shot rig. She was using a lure that they had bought me for my Birthday and they seemed to be the ticket. The fishing was pretty much non-stop all day with 7 different species of fish caught between us! I used the same soft plastic bait, but on a jig head.Little 3" swimbait. I got a couple of nice ones too! Amanda picked up a nice Black Crappie, and we would have loved to get a few more of those. Maybe next time. Amanda hooked into and lost something huge. We could see it way down in about 20 feet of water, but She was not able to bring it in close enough for an accurate identification before it spit the hook. We were both shaking and thought maybe a huge Walleye? We kept fishing the same area and finally solved the mystery. Channel cat! I got my first one and I think I am still shaking! Those things fight like bulls! Especially on light gear! I have got small Bullheads over the years, but they come up like wet socks! Not this thing! I ended up with a pair. Don't forget Small Mouth, nothing huge, but plenty of them and lots of fun! We rounded out the trip with plenty of Perch, huge Bluegill, and Pumpkinseed Sunfish! All in all, one of the best days of fishing I have had in a long time and I got to share it with a great fishing Buddy!
  10. For sure! I was not home today, but I bet you drove right past my house. Give me a heads up and I can and will arrange to be there!
  11. I have a couple of the same ones from BPS. I have not had to get the re-arming kits, but I believe they had them in stock. You will need the Bobbin for sure.
  12. Guys, i need your help! I always used and recommended Greg at Covers unlimited in Brampton because he did excellent work for a good price and he finished your cover the same day you dropped your boat off. Now I need a trailering cover for my new Alumacraft boat and he is gone! Closed up shop after all these years! Does anyone have any experience with a shop also in Brampton, called Custom Covers by Robert? His shop has been in business for many years. He is currently away on vacation for a month, but I can get in when he gets back. It would be nice to hear from someone who has dealt with them? Are there any other shops in the area that you would recommend? I would have never hesitated to recommend Greg, but I'm at a bit of a loss now. The dealer has one they offer from Alumacraft, but it is $1,030!! The Brampton shop is less than half the price for a custom made cover. Thanks
  13. Bellwood is a tough nut to crack for me too! We did okay last year for Pike opener, but during the summer, seems the fish are scarce. I know a guy with a cottage on the lake that swears the Walleye fishing is still good, but it mystifies me.
  14. Way to go! Beautiful fish and a beautiful family! I need to get me some Bass on topwaters! The Pop R is one of my favourites.
  15. Geez, one of the original f'f''s and Marty too...... all in one post? How are you Steve? Good to see you back here..
  16. Everything I have read says the Carp have really taken over and decimated the lake!
  17. Very nice Roger! I wouldn't look down my nose at the laker......I've never caught one and that right there is impressive!
  18. I hear ya man! I'm 59 and feel the same way! This year is really hitting me hard. I hurt in more places than I can list. Trying to help out the kids with their yard projects and try to get some of my own done is killing me!
  19. Sounds like your experience from your other job will have you well prepared for the cast of characters you are about to share a boat with! lol All the best Simon! I'm sure your guests will learn a lot and enjoy their trips with you.
  20. I'm sure i could come up with a few stories about some of my own best moves at the boat launch, but when we had our trailer on Dalrymple for 26 years, the highlight of my summer vacation was to head into Orillia one evening for a feast at King's Buffet then grab an ice cream cone and head over to the public launch ramp in Orillia to watch the launch ramp antics while the kids played at the park! Classic entertainment!
  21. Brian, I was really shocked when I read an article a little while ago that said the last hanging in Toronto was December 1962! It was at the old Don Jail. Sure does not seem that long ago. I agree that there is a need to bring it back for cases like this. Who wants to support this clown for the rest of his days?
  22. Dan, I know we drifted off topic a bit here, but you have every right to be proud of your business and record with your customers. I have been in the service industry all my life, but never for myself. I did work for mostly private run companies though. None of them had any interest in running a business with your philosophy though. I never understood that. One has been in business for 96 years. They just believe that when they screw someone over..... there are plenty more fish in the sea! Seems to be true! I would think a harmonious relationship with customers would make for a far more rewarding career.
  23. Sorry, can't help you at all. Pretty much everything you posted reads like some foreign language! lol Sure glad we have all these new fangled gadgets to really enhance our pleasure and enjoyment on the water. Best of luck sorting these issues out. I do believe in Lowrance products though.
