Another awesome report! Thanks for taking us along. Jim

This morning was the first morning nice enough to sit out on the back porch with your coffee. So as Jen and I are sipping (and she starts listing what needs to be done outside) I brought up our upcoming trip to Cameron Lake in July. The following topic came up and I immediately saw an opportunity for a post: Do you haul groceries north, or do you shop when you get there? In the case of Cameron Lake, there is a beautiful big grocery store in Fenlon Falls, less than ten minutes from the cottage. And I am thinking that the notion of packing food in coolers, getting ice, filling every inch of the van and boat, worrying about crushing the potato chips, etc. is an antiquated way of doing things. Jennifer's argument is that she wants to vacation the minute she gets there and not have to unpack then go shopping. Should I dump her, or do you guys still pack like prospectors? And does the porch really need painting? Jim

You know something has just dawned on me.....who is filming the whole thing? I remember watching Jacques Cousteau as a kid, swimming into caves or wrecks and thinking how dangerous it was. Then it dawned on me that someone filmed him swimming into the cave or wreck, from inside!!! Same with this, the guy is yelling to the other boat "How will I get it in the boat?" When the obvious answer is "Get buddy to put the camera down and pick up the gawd dammed net!" (note how I get around taking the Lord's name in vane by mis-spelling it). It was one of the first great life altering epiphanies that I remember having. The same thing happened when I watched the first "behind the scenes of Survivor" when I realized that for every one on the island, there were three cameramen and two sound guys following their every move. And this was another. I have just gone from thinking "What a wonderful fish" to thinking "God, I hate that posing bugger". In fact, if not for Lew, I am not sure that I would like Musky fishers at all. Jim

Nice brother, congrats! Jim

Those of us that fish Big Doe have much better tans and much bigger fish. Although I am somewhat lacking in photographic evidence (to be rectified this spring). Jim

Scam...if not a scam it is a sales ploy, which is just business I guess. But at any rate it is not that you won anything. I don't fill in any ballets at shows for just that reason. There may never have been any such thing as a free lunch, and there really is not now. There is not anything that you see, read, or hear, that isn't there to sell you something (including, dare I say, this site). Run as fast as you can. Jim

A little cerebral !?! Misfish is a little cerebral, you were writing curriculum Kidding, it was a lovely read. Thanks for taking the time to put your thoughts on screen. Jim

Sorry if this has been covered, but did you go to the boat show? Can you wait till the boat show next winter? You had mentioned that you had made your selection because of what was available in your area and I am wondering, considering the value and life expectancy of your purchase, if that is not a great reason to pick a boat. The beauty of the boat show is that everyone is there and you will never have a better opportunity to hop in and out of every boat in the class you are looking at. Take notes, compare features (and features are the biggy because all the boats at that level are good) talk to reps, and make deals! When you sit in the different boats you realize things like you can't see the instrument because of the steering wheel, the gas cap is right where you normally hold your hand with your cigarette, the snaps that hold the mooring cover on are right where your line will be on the side of the gunwale, etc, etc. You have to sit in them to see these things. And remember that when all is said and done, buy a Crestliner. Jim

Assuming he wants to be found. Jim -
If I had a dedicated place on a lake I'd have a pontoon boat in a heartbeat. They are like the minivan of boats. Jim

HUH? Anchoring might not be rocket science but your post is. I have read it three times and still am not sure what you are trying to say.

What a neat thing you have done. It really personalizes the boat and I am sure is a great source of accomplishment and pride. Nice. Jim

Did you take a look inside? Maybe the captain went down with the ship. Jim

Was it one of those Disney flicks? They do the same thing to me. Jim

Hi Dudes, I have a lawn mower and a weed whipper that are both victims of old gas. Does anyone know if there is a product that I can spray down the carb to de-gunkify it before putting in fresh gas? I am thinking back to the days when a can of "ether" would start anything and keep it going long enough to start sucking gas. Is there such a thing or am I looking at taking them to bits and cleaning? Thanks, Jim

Just wondering, out of all the 16' boats out there how did you get down to those two? Jim
-
Hi All, Am I reading the book right? Can I fish the inner bay right now for Perch and Pike? Is the ramp at Port Rowan open? Does anybody really know what time it is? Thanks, Jim

Talked to the lady at the bait shop and she said that the dock is not in yet and usually goes in around the end of April. Jim

I email the Mayor all the time, she reads them all as well (and usually forwards them to the right people). How about a big sign posted by the dam "The following fish are in season right now........."or "nothing in season, if you are fishing now you are breaking the law". Maybe to differentiate the instruction you could show pictures of what people are allowed to keep. Any sign that is put up though would last about a nano-second before some spray painted over it. Jim

This boat wasn't that fancy.

Hey Lexx What about calling them at Fatts Bait and Tackle (905-774-4577)? Jim
