Overpriced, large rooms with sporadic displays

Beautifully put, and I couldn't agree more. Jim -
I agree 100%. Senko has become a catch-all name for the ribbed, symmetrically tapered worm. I used YUM Dingers last year (and will again if I ever get out for bass this year) and loved how they produced. Jim

Thanks for your input, it means lots from a 37 poster! I was doing my best not to fry the place as I have loads of fond memories as well, it employs loads of kids, as well as giving thousands of others a place to go. But it was an awful experience topped off by the fact that I dropped $37 for me and my seven year old to park and walk about for an hour and a half, after which my son said "Dad, this is the most boring place we have ever been." I think that they have changed a bunch of displays, and gone (just last week apparently) are the interactive things like the Bernoulli ball (the beach ball that blows up in the air). I talked to a guide there and he confirmed that it has got a little 'dry" for kids. Essentially it goes like this, you read two paragraphs of fine print to your kid then he presses a button and hears a frog make a noise. Or you hit a colander with a mallet and make a noise (to study sound waves I guess). The highlight was the new Lizards and Snakes display. In other words, the highlight of the Science Centre was the zoo. Jim -
Hey Dirk, I have a 12V, 45 lbs. Motor Guide on my 16' Crestliner (it came as part of the package). It is the wireless model and has done everything that I have asked of it. I have yet to drain the battery and it pulls like a sophomore geek. The only thing that looks even cooler to me is the little wrist mount push button thingy. Jim

But it isn't, it's the Ontario Science Centre. What the hell happened to this once proud institution? Jim

Eight, I think. Jim

With action that hot somebody should open a charter business there. Jim

'Cause they live in a mud puddle and never see the light of day.

I paid $6000 to have my house rewired from knob and tube about three years ago. I also paid about $170,000.00 for an addition on the back of the house. I won't go into what I got for that money but suffice it to say that I was gob-smacked. And the work was done by my brother-in-law so I know that I wasn't being hosed. I was however, paying his construction company for about six months, not to mention all of the trades that he brought in, etc, etc. Mind you the work is flawless, it is a 100 year old house and you can't tell where the old house ends and the new part starts, but it cost us (compare that to most additions you see, they are like a toupee and can be spotted three blocks away). You have done houses before so I am sorry if I am making it sound like I am talking to a newb, but having professionals work on your house is expensive. Professionals have expenses that go way beyond wages and you are carrying those for the length of the job, Clem Clodhopper in his beat up Econoline, not so much. I know that if someone needs the work they will quote low and bump it up as needed, or do a crap job to make some money out of it. I also think that a smart contractor will quote high on a reno in case they run into any unforeseen details. I am not sure which is worse. In the end I guess, get a bunch of quotes to see what looks reasonable. But I don't know how anyone can accurately comment on the price (good or bad) based on the info that you have provided ("you're getting ripped off, my bathroom was only $5000.00!!" I mean how do you compare unknown quantities). Good luck! Jim

Two fisted drinking . Imagine if you caught a muskie, you'd have gone on a heroin binge! Are you still catching any walleye Digs? Or do you not target them while the bass are in season? Great photos! Jim

Thanks to all who "guided" me this week

Isn't it funny how territorial frogs are? I have had lots of them attack scum frogs. Cool pictures and congrats on that smallie! Jim -
I am no expert (not even close in fact) but I don't know who gets looked at in grade 8. The kids that I know that have been looked at have been playing rep ball somewhere and the team attends tournaments that the scouts are at usually I would guess, in the states. I think the key to getting looked at though would be rep basketball. Jim

Nice job on the trip and the report. Jim

Not sure about bait Island Homeslice, but the launch at Port Rowan was only $10.00 last year when the guy at Turkey point wanted $20. Jim

Every time I read one of these rant threads I cringe. The one above is particularly sad. I just can't figure out why people can't be happy with who they are and not worry so much about everyone else. What makes someone think "the country would be a lot better if everyone was white and just like me. Or if they couldn't be white, why can't they at least act white" 'Cause that's what these types of rants are saying. You may use the word "Canadian" but you mean white, like you. I don't know Bean's from, well, beans and if this was a wind up (as JohnF suggests) it was a good one. But the subject (in various forms, earlier this week it was the "two black guys and the teenage girl" like their colour was actually pertinent to the so called story) comes up far too often here. I realize that I might be painting with a pretty wide brush here, and don't really want to make judgements on a group of people unjustly, since that is really what I think is the problem with all of these "immigrant" type threads. But they get locked down every time and there is always a good reason. I can hardly wait for the time when they don't get started in the first place. I promised myself a while ago that I would not dwell on what I consider to be the dark side of the board, so I am not going to read this post anymore (so take your best shots). Jim

When people bend rules the minute they can we are reminded more than ever why the rules are there. Long live the mods, and hurry back. Jim

I would put money on the fact that it is the same as buying boats; They are pretty comparable if you go with a reputable maker. Same with dealers, they can make the experience better if you pick the right one. I would go with Heaslips (in Hagersville) over Crossroads for a Deere, and O'Neils in Binbrook is top notch for Cub Cadet. Good luck! Jim

Classic! Jim

You need a new boat not a new rod!! Great looking family by the way, congratulations. Jim

Just walk away Jim, just walk away..

Nice photos! I too am a bit of an aviation buff (God I miss Wayne). We had a small air show at Hamilton on father's day. It was nothing like the old days, thirty or so years ago when we would have the Snowbirds, the Blue Angels and twenty Mustangs for the weekend. But it was a nice day and my son goes nuts over the planes just like I did. Jim

I said "pardon?"
