Hey guys, We're looking for a place to stay for a week in late August, for 6 adults. Possibly one child. Looking for somewhere within 3-4 hours of the hamilton/ Burlington area. We would also need to rent boats as mine isn't big enough for everyone. I know this may limit our options however the budget would be somewhere around $1500 - $2000. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

There was a marina in Coboconk across the street from the Home Hardware that used to rent boats. Not sure if they still do or not. Work a try if you're set on going to balsam.

Yes, he should be open. Can always call the shell gas station they might be able to help. Or like mentioned before call around to local places in the area you're going, they might be able to help as well. Good luck!

Those are some beauty skis! I couldn't make it out last weekend, had to attend a wedding . Will be heading out this weekend more than likely to sturgeon.

It smells something wonderful too! lol I have a buddy that bought some leak proof containers from walmart and just transferred the stuff into that because they would just leak all over, and also because I used to complain when it would leak into my boat! lol

The screws through the hull, how did that happen? They looked like the icing on the cake from all the other work that was done. The guy who did the work sounds like an absolute beauty.

If you're going to use just for ripping jigs/ jigging, personally I would use a med power fast action rod around the 6'6" mark. XF might be to soft of a tip.

x3. I think it's a good thing that they were out, however like stated before how are you supposed to know to stop if it's not clearly posted. Perhaps some of the people didn't realize they had to pull in until they were past the exit/ where they were supposed to stop. I would have a problem if they pulled me over a demanded to go through my things without a warrant. Can the MNR detain someone long enough to obtain a warrant? I'm aware the 5-0 can. I understand that they're trying to nab poachers but like also said before they should be more organized in their methods imo.

Yes he did and he was good on his word. We actually chose today because there was limited days left and so that we didn't have to take a day off work. We did ok today. Ended up with more silver bass then eyes but we did manage to get a few, mostly dinks however. The biggest one was around 3lbs. Winds picked up this afternoon made fishing difficult. We wrapped it up around 2. Overall IMO it was an alright day not what we were hoping for but I'm glad we didn't get skunked again.

I would personally go with the HG as oppose to the lower gear. But sounds like a good set up and a good deal on the loomis rod.

The day is "on him" tomorrow. I just don't want anyone to feel like they're being taken advantage of. Last time the conversation was good, myself and the two others that went all got along great. The only reason the sponsorship was spoken about was because a buddy asked him about it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels your pain lol. I know these things can happen, and I have been out with other guides at different places who didn't make the same offer, or any kind of offer for that matter for not catching anything. So tomorrow I'm headed to Windsor to fish the Detroit river with a guide. Tomorrow is " on him" so to speak because of not catching anything the previous trip with him. So my question is how much would an appropriate tip be? Not really sure what to do here, any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

P&A plastic in hamilton can custom make what you need. They have fairly cheap prices too.

I do do that, sometimes I treat the lipped lure like a jerk bait, and the lipless lure like a glide. But mostly I keep using the bait until I get bit then try to replicate.
