  1. Yes, that's what I'm worried about. I did this in my old tin boat and put everything up front and the bow sat Real low in the water. Had to move them to the almost the middle of the boat. The engine is approx 330ish lbs if I remember correctly. Along with a tank of gas, someone fishing, 3 batteries (1 crank) and a charger and whatever other things end up back there, I think might be a little to heavy for that boat?
  2. No I haven't run it and yes thats what I think I might do either that or do the sandbag idea. I will have a look at those sites. Thanks. Yes, I'm looking at kind of a similar idea.
  3. Not necessarily looking at them the casting deck extends a little to make a sort of compartment without a face and in between is a compartment with a lid.
  4. Yes, this is the same scenario I'm in. Im concerned that the wight of the batteries to the front, which would be in front of the live well, as well as the weight of the live well with water and fish may weigh the bow down to much. That's why I was thinking the foot area underneath the casting deck for the driver and passenger? Which would be behind live well more to the middle of the boat.
  5. Never end thought of this. Good idea.
  6. I also read about this however, underneath the rear bench is the gas tank which is 68L. It is not located in the floor of the boat, as in some other brands. Would that be too much weight with what would be three batteries ( 2 trolling motor and 1 crank) and the charger weighing the back of the boat down?
  7. Hey Guys, Hope everyone had a fun and safe holidays. As I posted in another thread I started, I recently purchased at new boat. 1650 crestliner fishhawk. I'm looking for advise on the best place to put the trolling motor batteries. I have a 24v terrova and the current system is only a 12v power drive . The battery is in the small compartment closest to the front of the boat, but 2 batteries and a charger won't fit there. There is a bigger compartment behind that would fit everything but I'm worried it might weigh the bow down to much. In the main area of the boat there are to areas that are open for the passenger and drivers feet and there's a small compartment in the centre. Should I put the batteries in the foot space and the charger in the middle compartment or everything the big compartment near the bow? I put a link to pics of the same boat so every one can get a better idea. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. http://www.iowafallsmarine.com/2005FishHawk.html
  8. Hyundai Sante Fe might be worth checking out. They have an XL model that has a V6 with AWD. My gf was looking at buying that but ended up going with the smaller none XL version. Also Ford explorers are nice. A family member has been looking at them, they are nice ride with decent features for a not bad price. Both might be tad over the budget you suggested. I would try looking in the Toronto area, more dealers and you are able to knock dealers down a bit.
  9. 08 Ford F150 King Ranch. 5.4L Triton engine. Loved that truck, minus the engine of course. Got it and all was well for 6 months, then the engine blew at 159 000kms pulling up to the stop sign 500ft from my house. Ended up trading it in for $2500 to a dealer in Toronto and got a 17 F150 with a 5L. Haven't had a problem since.
  10. Trailer for the new season. Thought some might be interested.
  11. I have a friend who had a legend boat, similar to your dad's which had the side imaging problem. Brought it back to the dealer several times but they couldn't figure it out. It could have been that whoever installed it was inexperienced. They ended up putting a second ducer on the other side of the boat and they ran simultaneously to provide the picture to the unit. On the flip side I have a friend who has a Ranger 621 and he runs Lowerance (if that matters) but he has no issues what so ever with his SI pictures, and he runs one ducer. This site has been helpful for me in the past, might be worth checking out. http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=tbcr9ig6e7k7pgha6u25s2kek3&
  12. Yes, I thought so but the place that I brought it said that it wasn't that big a job. The lower unit was also looked at, I was told that all was good with it.
  13. LOL. Thanks! I will forsure.
  14. I like to use jigging raps size 7, bucktail jigs, smaller swimbaits and stick baits.
  15. Thank you everyone who gave some input. I did end up buying the boat with the 90hp Evinrude Etec. I did have it looked at buy a Evinrude dealer and I was told overall the boat and motor are in good condition considering the age. The only thing that needs to be replaced is the impeller as it is original, other than that everything was good. This is the report from the dealer, if there's anything else I should know, please let me know. Thanks
  16. There are two Evinrude dealers within driving distance. Both have a fairly decent rep. One is currently where I take my boat now. I understand that everything has a life expectancy. Would like to do my part to make sure it lasts as long as it can. I doubt I would be able to get any maintenance records. I did go and view the boat over the weekend. He sounded like he knew about the motor fairly well. Motor was turned on and run sounded ok. I was told that there has never been any major work done to the motor, only small things. He said the "small" things he did but the other jobs it was taken to a mechanic near his cottage for service. So I'm opting to have it looked at for an engine diagnostic. As well as a once over for other boat things that were missed.
  17. Thanks. Yes, I totally agree that the main shouldn't be used but a kicker isn't in the budget right now.
  18. Just asking for any information as none of my friends who have boats have Etec's. All are Yami or Merc. Thank you Scott, appreciate it. 👊 I called my local marine dealer. Told me they could get parts for the motor..
  19. Maybe the thought was that they would freeze up and close before something like that would happen? Yes i agree not to make the ice unsafe for others, and being prepared however I don't think that was the intention. I disagree with the garbage statement, you could stuff it in your pocket or tackle bag. People who do that are ignorant and lazy.
  20. I agree, however what are you do when you're out on the ice with nothing to mark open holes with?
  21. Have you trolled with the motor? if so how was the performance?
  22. Does that mean the Evinrude motors that pre date 08 are Ficht motors? I believe this one has a BRP badge on it.
  23. I believe those were the Fict or Ficht motors? The were made until the early 2000’s, then BRP bought the company. The one that is on the boat I’m looking at is a BRP motor.
  24. It’s a 2005 motor. Unsure about the amount of hours on it. Would it be a bad idea to troll with a 2 stroke motor of that size? Yes, been reading a lot about the motors. Some good some bad. The reviews seem to be mostly one sided but then again you will hear more bad then good.
  25. Hey all, Looking at a boat with an 90hp Evinrude Etec. Does anyone own one or have any experience with these motors? I have read very mixed reviews online regarding these motors and have no experience with them personally. Would be used for mainly driving but also from trolling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
