  1. Bought my first boat when we came to Canada in the 70's at Sears on Lawrence Ave in Toronto. It was purchased during a January sale. Price for the 12 ft. car topper $235 delivered to Acton. Pushed it with a Sears Ted Williams 7.5hp. motor ( made by eska ) When we moved to Forest in the 80's I traded it in on a Thundercraft 14 with a 75 Mercury. My wife didn't like the Thundercraft said it was to fast and I should get another smaller boat so the following spring when I went to the dealer he had two used choices, a Springbock and my old Sears ( which was slightly deeper and much wider.) When I inquired "how much" the answer was $500, so I now had my old boat back at more than double the new price and said it would never be sold again. Here's a picture of the old beauty from 2003 at Silvr'y Moon Lodge.
  2. Geeze no big deal, happens a lot while smallmouth fishing in our area every year!
  3. Nice boat at a very attractive price!
  4. Jo and I were in the same position many years back. Like you we decided to do something about it and all I can say is isn't it a great feeling knowing you were able to overcome odds that many would have given up on. Congrats on the new house and let me just mention you will LOVE living on the water.
  5. Well that's fine by me...or maybe not considering I plough snow in winter. Oh well there's always next month.
  6. My buddy sells and installs explornet and so far he has had no complaints that I know of. Bear in mind that the faster you want the more you pay.
  7. My parents enrolled me in lessons when I was 6 and even though I went, I was still afraid of the water and never passed the first step. Later that year after I turned 7 we were in Lake Geneva Wisconsin at our cottage when I got up early one morning and was feeding panfish bread off the end of the pier which I wasn't suppose to go on it without an adult nearby. It rained overnight and the pier was wet and I leaned out to far and fell in 25 ft. of water. Well I must of learned something from those lessons cause when I popped up I swam the length of the pier to shore....very lucky I guess. Been swimming ever since and used to spend my summers in Stevensville Michigan where we would go to the lake after breakfast and stay until supper. Guess I've got older as even though we live by Lake Huron I would prefer to be in a boat, but still swim occasionally.

  9. If you want power this is the only way to go....custom
  10. If your ATV was made in Japan and is imported by you from the states then duty is 6% plus GST & PST on the Cdn value. So US price $3499 converted at 4:20PM today = $4020 plus 6%= $241.20 =$4261.20 plus Gst (6% on $4020 = $241.20 and 8% PST =$321.60 ) total $4824 assuming you go over to the states and bring it back to Canada. So add in your time and fuel to determine the real savings. Keep in mind that if Yamaha imports they also have to pay a brokerage fee and freight. Do check out where you have to have the service work preformed under the 6 mo. ( both Canada and US ) warranty time. Since this is considered a motor viechle then addational paperwork and/or certificates may be required. Now if your ATV is of US manufacture then eliminate the 6% duty.
  11. I find this entire post shocking just shocking.
  12. Hope the leg does get better, but if not here is a short story on another dog that I know. The vet I take Amy to 12 years ago took in a lab that was hit by a car. In the end the dogs rear legs were paralized. She made one of those mobility walkers for the rear quarters and kept the dog as a vet office mascot. Still there today at 12 and enjoying it's life.
  13. Lets see...... Chicago Illinois then Oak Park Illinois then Cicero Illinois then Berwyn Illinois then North Riverside Illinois then Brookfield Illinois then Mississauga Onatrio ( Constellation Hotel for 3+ Years ) then Acton Ontario then Lambton Shores Ontario where we remain to this day.
  14. Looks good to me...but get other opinions , I have cataracts!
  15. Cabelas in Dundee Mich, it's for sale. If you or anyone is interested just PM me and include your email addy and I will send you some more pictures.
  16. I'm satisfied with mine, and so are my friends that used to hand drill holes when we went out!
  17. First I purchased a new Truck Tent for the lakair trip which I never used and thought my daughter and son in law would but never have. Then I found a pruchased a used truck camper ( I never should have sold the first on I had ) again for the lakair GTG this past June. Had a great time with it all summer. I like being able to bring the bigger boat Vs the 12ft. Alum I put on the truck rack if I tow the trailer. I recommend a truck unit to anyone that likes to stay at and fish a series of different lakes on a trip. They are great investments in my opinion anyway.
  18. You MUST establish who is the Alpha dog, once done you will find it much easier to do what she tells you to! As far as being on furniture heres Amy in the truck camper and trailer....and I could care less!
  19. That's priceless...I enjoy your sense of humor!
  20. The same thing happned out of South Baymouth off Manitoulin island many years ago. The boat was a Starcraft 221 Islander with 4 riggers out and clutches not adjusted properly. Cost a few of the fishers their life.
  21. Guess I'm old school but I have used them and although they work fine I prefer to bring the ball up just to get all the weeds, if any, off the cable and or ball. Easiest way to bring the cable to you is to swivel the rigger as close to the boat as possible or use your docking pole to bring the cable to you. If you choose the latter hold the cable with a gloved hand or something to protect your hands.
  22. I posted about the same unit at the same price ( except in U.S. Funds ) at Gander Mountain about 2 weeks ago. It was a good deal at that price but better one in Cdn Funds. If my hut wasn't in the great shape it's in I would have purchased the same thing.
  23. More power than all the bikes on Friday the 13th!!!!
  24. If this was still the 50's he could have been on "Whats my line"......pun intended.
