  1. The Bayfront/Pier 4 beaches get closed mostly due to E. Coli caused by Goose and Swan feces, and in turn, the idiots who insist on feeding them. I would say maybe 1 in 10 bass we catch from the Harbor are outfitted with the lesions and sores that smally21 mentioned. That being said, I still wouldn't fry up a fish from that water, even a panfish from the main basin.
  2. That's because there are multiple sewer/waste/storm overflows in that area. After a good rain you can usually see 100s of floating tampons in the South-East part of the harbor.
  3. If you're not shy about taking spinning reels apart I suggest cleaning out all the grease and flush the bearings with lighter fluid. Re-lube gearing with grease and a couple drops of oil in each bearing.
  4. Got quotes from Hamilton, Burlington, Cambridge and London for the 5'8" box on my '09 Silverado CrewCab. anywhere from 450 to 550. This was under-rail, including tail-gate. One guy even offered to do my frame rails in the rear wheel wells for free.
  5. Great report! I'd be interested to hear about which bait you've found to get such great hook-ups. Those are some hard snouts to get hooks through.
  6. I'd probably be pissed too if I went out and bought a couple new rod and reel combos specifically for a-rigs too, but I wasn't stupid enough to fall for this one...
  7. Bell doesn't sell CDMA handsets any more
  8. I throw these, both weighted (3/16) and unweighted. I use a 7/0 EWG hook, and modified Texas rig. When I put the hook vertically through the head, I try and exit about 1.5" from down the bait and finish like normal. This is not the most durable way to hook them, as the line will end up slicing trough the 1.5" at the top, but it gives it an amazing action. On the descent, the head of the bait will actually wiggle a bit, along with the tail. when your twitching or using the rise-fall method, you can really take advantage of the wobbly head.
  9. What are you guys talking about with regards to Rogers not having service? I have a iPhone 4 and drive from Hamilton to Sault Ste. Marie twice a year, and the only time I don't have a signal is at the very bottom of a couple very deep valleys. I'd be interested to see what kind of phones people are using who are complaining about no service outside cities...
  10. I'm not sure if PowerPro stills comes with the foam backing stickers, but I always used one and an arbor knot and never had a problem.
  11. I would say so... http://www.eelslake.com/OPTIONS_FISHING.HTM

  13. Hey Mike, is that an Elite-tech River Runner laying across the gunwales while Jason fights the fish? I'd like to hear your thoughts on the rod if you get a chance.
  14. Sweet rig and truck. Interesting design on the transom, with the motor set forward like that. I will have to add this hull to my list of hulls to research.
  15. It'll likely be some variation of this Japanese model. http://www.tackletester.com/2012/04/new-2012-shimano-calcutta/ Edit: Pic
  16. He was just doing what any good guide would do when you just lost your client's trophy
  17. The stories I've heard lately Indictate that there is no more over-the-counter exchanges happening, unless of course your dealer does you a favor. All rods are being sent back to shimano (at your expense) so they can determine whether it's a defect (warranty, free replacement/repair) or user error (cost of repair/replacement forwarded to customer) G.Loomis has also instituted a $20 fee for ANY warranty service, although people with NRX reel seat issues seem to be excluded. Edit: spelling. Damn iPhone!
  18. I think "Tyee" is reserved for a Chinook greater than 30lbs. Edit: Chinook, not Salmon
  19. A quick google search pulled up this:Gravel haulers interrupt truck inspections in Milton, North Bay
  20. Here is the thread from back in December http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=59111
  21. Looks alright, but i'd prefer the hub mounted ones. If you look closely @ 52 seconds you can see it getting stuck before they cut to the next scene.
  22. We were also out Saturday mid-day and when you guys passed us I mentioned to my fishing partner "There's Fishmaster with some clients, and that one guy looks like CCMT from OFC." We fished from Fishmaster's down to the last bend in the river with only 2 bites. The wind really picked up around noon and we stuck it out until 3pm and called it a day.
  23. Here's the manufacturer's website. I couldn't find any weight specifications though...
