  1. great job guys! was ice running into u and rob at bass pro last nite bruce! take care and keep up the great reports!
  2. could very well be... really not sure. the fish was a live release anyways. i dont think the gentleman who caught it was thinkin about any records, he was just ecstatic to catch a fish like that. wouldnt be the first time a record fish was released back to the water instead of being certified as a record.
  3. damn!! im impressed!!! does she sell any of her work?
  4. 2 or 3 years ago i believe. and yes it was weighed. it was an absolute BEAST
  5. anyplace by pier 4 park, tons of shore access there, down by bayfront boat launch, again, tons of area to fish. burlington side by lasalle marina has access too. i fish down there a lot, and that where i took all my kids for their first fishing trip. senkos and white spinnerbaits will net ya some bass, spinners also work on pike, crappie and perch will take minnows, catfish will hit worms... just play around with things. biggest smallie i;ve seen was 3lbs even i caught last year. biggest largie was 5lb 7oz caught by my buddy in a club tourney, also seen a few 4lb + fish biggest pike was 17lb caught through the ice 2 years ago... i;ve seen bigger ones there too. biggest carp was 58lbs seen caught by another guy. my buddy caught a crappie and perch that were just monsters. lots of fish guys, and as u can see, some big ones too. have fun!
  6. most of the salmon have already gone up the creeks and rivers, u may find one here or there still. fish the harbour, tons of area to fish from shore. largies, smallies, pike, salmon, trout, crappie, perch, catfish, carp. tons of fish around, and some big ones too.
  7. if ya need some help out there, get a hold of Bob and spend a day with him on the water... you will learn a ton and hes just a great guy to spend the day with, very personable and friendly. you wont be disappointed!
  8. Rite now I use a 7' heavy with a fast tip st croix. Just got in with a new rod sponsor though and I'm having a custom rod done at 7'10" for the casting distance and leverage and a heavy action fast tip on it. As JP said, high speed reel is a must, heavy braid line. I like the spro bronzeye frogs, snag proof bobbys perfect frog too. Lookin forward tpo tryin the new tru tungstun mad maxx frog.
  9. if your gonna have friends and family out with u more often then not, go with the duel console. i can tell u that it is so much nicer being in a boat knowing there is a little protection for the passenger!! and if u have kids, they will enjoy the trip much more having some protection from the wind!
  10. u REALLY gotta search around for the deals.. i have bought several rods reels and tackle off ebay. i go in looking for what i want, with a price in mind. if it goes over that price, i look else where. i got a brand new quantum catalyst spinning reel for $43 shipped. that reel sold for $169 in stores around here. picked up a brand new abu garcia revo premier for 170 shipped. plus many other deals on other reels, rods and tackle. one thing to keep in mind is the exchange rate!! it can be pointless buying things if the rate is way off.. i bought a lot of things when our dollar was worth more thehn the US dollar, saved a ton of money and got some sweet deals!
  11. i have 2 citicas, and i will be getting a kinetic in the not to distant future. quantum makes quality reels, i own several, and have no complaints, they have a great warrenty, and are easy to deal with, shimano was too much of a hassel for my liking. quantum has a deal on rite now too, when u buy a reel, u can mail away for free stuff. i believe the kinetic gets you either a free spool of flourocarbon line, or a free BASS membership. new or renewal. which is nice to have for the tourney eligibility or just for the magazine subscription and the bonus materials u can view online. the citicas are nice reels, but i like the styling of the quantums far better. and just overall like to performance of the quantums. however, for $20 bucks more, u could step up to the catalyst PT reel. just somethin to think about.
  12. nicely done aaron, u and barry did good on the smallies! the new gear rapala is coming out with looks great! hows the new r type baitcasters workin?? the shift rods look amazing!!
  13. i have 2 citicas E's great reels for the price. not as good as casting lighter baits as the curado, but still very nice reels
  14. i have an abu revo S im tryin to sell rite now, lol. used it for one tourney and swapped it off my rod for an energy PT i had. dont like the revo S, doesnt cast very far IMO, not as smooth as id like. in all reality, go on ebay, and keep ur eyes open, u always find good deals on reels there, for the same price, or maybe a bit more, u can get urself a very good top end reel, for the same money as u;d pay for the accurist or revo S.
  15. they're a good reel. i had one till it took a dip in the upper niagara river. i miss that combo... anyways, its a good reel for the money. well made and works great. the flippin switch is a nice feature too.
  16. i agree!! they should have really made it hurt him!
  17. hahaha thats freakin priceless!
  18. strike king premier plus are all i use. and someone mentioned that it may be late in the year for using spinnerbaits, i disagree.. rite now it prime time for it. bass are starting to feed heavily on baitfish, and a spinnerbait is a great way to get aggressive bass. i NEVER go bass fishing without having a spinnerbait tied on. i throw them on a 7' med/hvy st croix with a quantum energy PT spooled with 40lb braid.
  19. great story. i hope the person comes forward to say thank you! Shake your dad's hand for me, and tell him thank you for putting his life on the line each day to give someone else a second chance!
  20. try 40lb spiderwire on it. power pro i find digs in to much and makes it harder to get out the tangles. dont try to bomb out the cast, just nice and easy to start, distance will come with practice.
  21. nuthin good to say about aikmans... lol. rockys tackle in orillia is a quantum warrently center. send all my quantum stuff to them, no issies at all. great to deal with and fast returns on items sent.
  22. WOW! that is an INSANE bag of smallies! 7.15 was big fish!!!
