  1. me personally, none. ive always used my left hand to crank the reel. i just know of other people who use a lefty for flippin and pitchin to save that extra split second instead of having to switch hands to engage the reel.
  2. u dont need a ton of gear. a soft tackle bag that can hold as many boxes as u can fit in it to carry ur terminal tackle-hooks, weights, and so on. one or 2 for ur plastics, tubes, senkos, etc. another for some crankbaits, one for spinners and topwaters, jerkbaits and jigs. polorized sunglasses to spot fish and cover, and protect ur eyes. a good rainsuit is invaluable!! having a few rods pre-rigged can save time when ur on the water. but u dont need 10 different rods. space is limited so u wanna take up the least amount of space u can with ur tackle bag and rods. 4-6 rods will do u fine. experience will help u prepare for a tourney. for example, if ur fishing for smallies, u dont need to worry about topwaters as mush(although they are a great way to catch them) but ur typically fishing deeper, so flipping sticks and that can be left home. u need tubes, dropshot, jerbaits... that would cover ur day of fishing. hope this helps ya out a bit.
  3. i use left retrieve on both spinning and casting. it feels so uncomfortable to reel with my right hand. as said, a lot of guys use a left hand spinning reel and right hand casting reel. on top of the comfort issue, i dont see the point in casting with my right hand, only to switch hands to start reeling. and a lot of guys, pros included, have started using a left hand retrieve casting reel for flipping and pitching rods, so they dont have to switch hands to reel, which helps when a fish hits as soon as ur lure hits the water.
  4. i am a member of the hamilton bassmasters, VP of the club actually... and will be joining the CBAF as well. lakes we will be fishing are lake erie, long point bay, pigeon lake, balsam, seymour, rice to name a few. the cbaf will fish many of the same waters as us. as said, u dont need a boat, u can fish as a co-angler. and i promise u, u will learn a ton fishing with the guys in either club. take a look at them, u wont be disappointed. we will have Jarrod Dean as a guest speaker at our next meeting that i mentioned, and JP Derose is the speaker at the CBAF meeting i believe, this month.
  5. take a look at the hamilton bassmasters as well. we will be holding many tourneys this season, its a great way to get ur feet wet and learn a great deal about bass fishing. (plus u get to ride in some really cool boats! lol) we meet the 2nd tuesday of each month, so next tuesday, feb 9th we will be meeting. dimaggios italian eatery on upper ottawa st in hamilton. between rymal rd and stone church rd. any info u need, please PM me and ill answer anythin u need to know.
  6. i like a 7' medium/heavy rod with a moderate action. gives long casts, and the flex in the rod helps with that as well as aloowing u to feel the lure run in the water and when a fish hits that give allows the hooks to get in and not be pulled from its mouth when fighting it.
  7. toskola wasnt any better in san jose. he played in what, 30 games? when u have the best team in the league in front of u, yea... u look much better then u actually are. raycroft was an excellant goalie. what killed him was ferguson gettin toskola in the first place. i still dont understand how a guy playing on a mediocre team, can still tie ur team record for wins, and still not be good enough to have the starting job the next season!?
  8. when was toskola good?? its hockey... penalties happen... u know, the teams the leafs play, they take penalties too ya know! yup, its true... even boston
  9. dunno what uve been watchin, but white has been their best player the past 2 years. and he could easily be a top 2 D man on any team in the league. hes as tough as they come, plays hard, hes excellant in his own end and smart in the offensive end. has a bullet shot, makes great passes and can skate very well.
  10. have fun with that. i still cant see how he is the number one pick! aside from patrice cormier, hall was the worst player canada had on the ice at he juniors this year. very weak on his feet, always gets knocked off the puck and knocked down. was always tryin to beat everyone of the ice instead of passing the puck. and he gave the puck up 95% of the time he tried to beat everyone.
  11. i didnt know blake was part of that deal he just cleared some serious salary from the team. and salary from some totally useless players. i feel for the ducks though.,.. noew that have a high payed useless winger who plays well once every 12 games or so. and a goalie who cant stop a shot to save his life, has horrible positioning and some of the worst rebound control the game has ever seen! now, if we can get rid of jeff finger and his 4 mil per year joke of a contract for a guy who was number 7 on colorados depth chart before ferguson signed him we'll be ok.
  12. i agree!! now we know the leafs will be looking for at least 2 top line forwards in the off season now. they need a number one playmaking center and another scoring winger
  13. and for a team that cant score, trading ur leading scorer isnt gonna help that matter much. mayers was no shock as he requested a trade. and it was a matter of time for stajan. as he has been called out nurmous time this year by management.
  14. burke said he would take on salary to aquire draft picks. which is evident in the toskola-giguere deal. white was well worth the raise he is gonna get in the off season. i really hope there is a deal in place to resign him in the off season. he has been their best player hands down all year. and last year as well. he plays both ends of the ice
  15. lol i just posted the same thing. but didnt know the details. im extatic to have phaneuf, but sad to see hagman go, cause he was really starting to pick up his play. stajan never played to his potential... but IAN WHITE????? there better be plans to sign him back in the off season, he was the best player on the team all year, hands down!! im hearing giguere and a 1st rounder for toskola. personally, thats a VERY high price for toskola... a stick and 2 pucks seems more fair of a deal to me.. lol, but if burke got that, good on him.
  16. its been reported that the leafs have traded for calgarys dion phaneuf. and have sent vesa toskola to anaheim for J.S. giguare and a 1st rd pick.
  17. they're just mad cause lowrances unit looks so much better then humminbirds! lol
  18. yea, shouldnt be any problem for them.
  19. i should be there. will likely be promoting backwoods rods. come say hi!
  20. i need new tackle... can i borrow ur card?
  21. usually works out to be $20 per month to a maximum of $400, plus whatever fees u have for that months bill. u should prolly start stretching the colon now... just to get ready for it
  22. haha, that was freakin priceless!!
