  1. Terry i was nearby when you caught that laker that won the Fishing for Tyler event a few years back on a meegs. The hut flew open quite fast & you were quite excited. I can't blame you either.
  2. White mini tubes work for me. What's better for me though is a small shiner hooked through the mouth & out the top of the head.
  3. Why not just get a rain check at that price? Maybe a wait though. CT gets volume discounts smaller retailers won't get. They are not selling at a loss. Harrison if you do not have it in stock currently there is a good chance CT will be able to get it faster due to volume sales.
  4. Actually 7'10" at the base. Shoulder room is 8'6". That's still big for a pop-up.
  5. I got one in Aylmer, Ont. yesterday. Last one. I have found if you go into a store they & they don't have what you are looking for ask them to look-up on their computer nearby stores for inventory. This is generally far more accurate then the on-line checking. If the store that your heading for has only one it could be gone before you get there though. Used this method when I got the Rapala gas auger that was on sale a few weeks back. The store in London still had most of the stock the store in St. Marys told me they had.
  6. If you hit Service Canada you'll be sorry & COMPLETELY OUT OF LUCK. Try Service Ontario instead. I suggest you call first though as not all offices are on-line with the new system yet.
  7. I just renewed my Outdoors Card & 3 year Sport fishing licence at the Service Ontario site in Aylmer yesterday. It took her almost 15 mins to get it done. Not her fault about the time either as she spent most of the time waiting for the system to go to the next step. Was a problem with the postal code also but she solved it. I got 2 temporary paper tags(Outdoors Card & Fishing Tag) until my card comes in, reported to be 2 weeks. Any tags not bought at the time of Outdoors Card purchase will not be a sticker for the back of the card but a separate paper tag required to be kept on you when needed.
  8. The story you referenced was a month old & is no longer valid.
  9. Yes don't use a bolt. Years back on a snowblower my father had it kept breaking the shear pin on the drive shaft for the wheels. He replaced it with a bolt. The replacement wheel drive shaft wasn't worth the $'s the time it would have been to replace a few shear pins. Removed the chains on the wheels and the problems were gone.
  10. When the ice freezes Long Point can be very good for perch. During open water seasons some of the piers along Lake Erie can be good for perch at times & if you have access to a small boat not far off shore from these piers can be quite good. We've had very good results off of Port Bruce. Here's some we caught off Port Bruce near the end of June. Discolored due to being in a cooler with ice. Empty beer cans for size reference only. BTW: The Busch can is a tall-boy. Cooks bay on Lake Simcoe can be good but I find the size smaller on the average than Erie.
  11. I have the same Rapala auger. No sheet that skeeter mentions. I believe by premium they mean name brand as opposed to a no-name discount brand. I am using Shell premium gas as it is reported not to contain ethanol. As for oil I went with Amsoil Sabre Professional which I mix 80/1 with a little SeaFoam added. I also use this in my chainsaw. Oil to gas mixtures are not determined by the motor (newer motors) but by the oil quality instead. Better oils are designed to work at as little as 100/1. This means less smoke & plug fouling but the same lubricating protection.
  12. I use cod liver oil with anise add on my baits at times. Like most scents if nothing else it will help cover up some other scents that may turn off the fish.
  13. Liquor out of residence!! Even if it's your dock it is still in public waters.
  14. The cause of your original hose giving out (most likely ethanol) could have also caused problems in your carburetor such as damaging the seals/o-rings or diaphragm.
  15. From my Helly Hanson -hand wash -hang dry -no bleach -no ironing -no dry cleaning
  16. Great report. I've never thought about canning them as they're so good pan fried or smoked. Maybe this winter I'll try canning some Simcoe whities.
  17. That only pays if you have only a few possessions and a vehicle set-up to tow. Also added fuel to tow can eat up savings quickly. Other than that contact moving companies for quotes. Remember to check on their insurance (damage) policies when comparing prices. If damages are only paid by weight you could be out lots of $'s if they damage things like electronics.
  18. So it wasn't the neighbor? As Dutchy said let the cops handle it. They may be interested in why it took so long to report it though!
  19. If you plan on using it as your approved PFD then stay away from anything not approved by the Dept. of Transport (Canada). If not planning on using it as your approved PFD than your options open up. Ice fishing does not require an approved PFD. Remember if wearing it in a boat & it is not approved just having an other approved PFD in the boat may not meet the requirements. The approved PFD has to be the right size to fit you as your dressed which may require a much larger PFD to fit over the coat.
  20. If you note my post had many question marks. This whole thread has many questions to be answered. Everyone is so quick to blame the neighbor with no evidence which GoneFishn admits. No witnesses, no visible damage to their vehicle & a number left to call that doesn't match the neighbors? No court would award any damages based on the so called facts stated so far in the thread. Much more investigating needs to be done before blame can be accessed. Could it have been someone (matching the phone #) just using the neighbors driveway to turn around or a visitor? Was it the neighbor? Hell I don't know but no one else does either. Police should have been call at the time of noticing the damage.
  21. One thing which everyone seems to be missing is without talking to the neighbor we may not even have the whole story. Was he trying to get away with it originally or did he leave a note in the first place which went missing for some reason? (wind blew off?) After no response he than put on a second note? Too many questions left in the first post.
  22. Although sand points have been used for many years they do have their drawbacks. The biggest is that they use the upper ground water & are susceptible to bacteria contamination far easier than deeper drilled wells. Manure used for field fertilizer or septic systems can leach through the upper water to the sand point. Also like dug wells they can go dry during extended dry periods. Although more expensive at the start in most cases a drilled well is your best bet. Sulpher can be a problem with some drilled wells in some area's & it can get worse if they drill deeper than they need to. If people around you have good results with drilled wells then maybe that's the best solution to your problem. Also adds to the resale value of the house.
  23. Last year I bought an obsolete but new in the box Humminbird 580. It has an external antenna & I find it quite accurate for speed & location using the provided UniMap or Navionics cards. Using either type of map places me in the water even when near shore. Have not found the need to use the map offset yet. Adjusting or confirming some settings in the unit may help your problems. Map datum - insure it's on the default setting of WGS 84 If running the tracking option set the distance & intervals to the lower values. With use of the map offset you should be reasonably close. What many forget is that for civilian use the receivers are designed to be only accurate to within +/- 10 metres 95% of the time and the US can downgrade the GPS signal anytime they choose for security reasons. That being said many/most units still perform far better than this standard.
  24. My guess is $20/$25 + balancing + tax. For $20 how many actually had the tire balanced also? Or paid cash under the table? Marking the place of the valve stem then remounting will get it somewhat close but balancing is still better.
  25. I remember telling my mother the same thing when I was considerably smaller. Her response was "just remember whats waiting for you when you come home!"
