  1. Gramps bait is what you're thinking of, and yes he's still around, and has bait as well as a great tackle selection. He may be your best bet for your timeframe to be honest.
  2. If you're lookin just for minnows, billy bob's, NB outfitters, discount bait and tackle, bobs bait (on trout lake rd) are all good, but NB outfitters and Cdn tire are the only places with good tackle selections
  3. Awesome! Very scenic lake with a nice bounty of trout to boot! Solo trip?
  4. Thats a friggin mule!! Especially for the bog, nice job Mikey
  5. Since the front is coming thru thursday, i would say friday would be the tougest bite, so go out both days!
  6. That's awesome. September can be absolutely lights out for walleye, and sometimes a complete bust!!
  7. I think this thread pretty well proves that every company is making a pretty good truck these days. I love my new and old Sierra's, but I've driven pretty well all the late model halftons out there, and was impressed with all of them. It does seem like Ford is making the most fuel-efficient gas v8 right now with their 5.0 L, but I can't stand the way they look lol! If you're buying used, pay more mind to how well it was taken care of, not what brand it is.
  8. Awesome report, and very informative write-up! Does the outfitter supply minnows, if requested?
  9. Nice report. I've been hearing great things about the laker fishing from many people this year. Not sure how a 2-fish limit with a 21" minimum size limit is considered 'a bit too generous' though? Regardless, the province is taking some serious steps to protect the touladi. There was already no ice season, but starting next year any lake that has lake trout will be 100% closed to winter fishing. Good thing none of the local operators depend on much of a winter season
  10. Nice giants
  11. Very nice. I used to fish lower buck a few years ago and did quite well for walleye, as well as muskie. Like most Kawartha lakes, the walleyes are easiest to pattern in spring/early sunmer before the weeds go nuts.
  12. I purchased a Humminbird Pirahnamax 176ci portable GPS/Fishfinder and had it out for the first time today. Portable pack is very well put together and functional. Graph works very well, and I like the chartplotter screen, very simple and straightforward. Not great for managing a large number of waypoints but plotting trails, basic waypoint marking and watching your speed it works great!
  13. Anything's possible in the steroid-infested Don river lol
  14. I've got big fall splake to hunt before I can start thinking of firing up the sled lol
  15. Oh my god, I need to experience that system for myself someday. Were you able to take some lakers on the fly?
  16. Looks like a great trip! How far north were you guys?
  17. Yep, drop shotting a slammer or a gulp minnow on a jig head would be my go to technique in the fall, especially around deep pools in higher current areas. Walleye also move into high current areas in the fall to feed big time! Forget about those big stinky muskies
  18. Did you read the regs for yourself?
  19. 313 000 on orig. drivetrain? He's out of his mind lol
  20. That's not really true unfortunately! Averaged 14.7 on a return trip to gravenhurst towing less than 1000 lbs lol
  21. Callander will definitely be your best bet of the two for walleye. The bass fishing will likely be great, but you may find walleye tough to locate and catch, given that youll be going up right around turnover
  22. All this karma rubbish is enough to make me puke. I guess the loving father of 3 that was killed on hwy 11 yesterday was a victim of karma too.
  23. I don't want to imagine that, and had no idea that was actually happening already. Sickening
  24. I scored a great deal on a '13 Sierra WT. Lots of recalls on the '14's but they seem to be pulling things together. Depending on your towing needs, the new ecotec 4.3's in the new Sierra make for a real nice 'budget' package, alongside the Pentastar Ram w/ the 8-speed. I prefer the v8's and all 3 companies make good ones, just decide what trim level you're looking for and price check from there
