  1. Ya he's a motormouth! Not sure I'd wanna work with him but hes a good guy for sure
  2. Similar to the 'umbrella' rigs I've seen videos of the guys using for stripers. I could see a variation of this working well for deep water greys. All spinner blades with a williams or live minnow trailing 2 or 3 feet behind...sort of like an umbrella shaped gangtroll...hah
  3. That is a fantastic week. I also fished lower buckhorn a couple times and did well for both walleye and musky as well. That swimbait tactic is a killer way to hook big walleyes
  4. Not aware of any slips in that specific area but Sean Degagne's (sp) ramp at Idle Time is close and I can only assume he lets people use it. You can also use the public ramp at the end of Birchgrove, but I have no idea what state it's in since I've only used it in the winter.
  5. Holy pickeral! I hope your family likes fish
  6. Up on the northern Ottawa where I am we fish faster water sections and look for current breaks and eddies and vertical jig or short cast with minnows or paddletail type plastics. Any fair size river mouth will also bring in fish intermittently throughout the day. We typically catch them all day up here, never really focused on an evening bite
  7. I do use steel leaders but they will definitely kink up and compromise the strength of the steel and and the lure action if the fish twist them up. Just check them after every fish and you will be fine
  8. Oh, thats why 10 hp outboards dont exist . The more you know
  9. Good for you. Sounds like you have a strong case.
  10. Well there isn't much to say that hasn't already been said, but holy shnikees what a fantastic trip, in all regards
  11. Yeah! Very different in that there's WAY more hunters, and a lot less fisherman . I didn't hear or see a single other soul all weekend and it's a madhouse during moose season
  12. Sometimes I like living next to the Ottawa river...actually scratch that I always love living next to the Oft riv. Had a couple hours free Friday evening so after a quick atv ride to the local creek to empty my minnow trap. I hit a local shore spot. I can almost always depend on a handful of small keepers from this spot so I was super surprised to lay into this 23" fatty. Normally I don't keep em this big but she made for an excellent breakfast The minnow hole And I spent the last two days at my girlfriends familys hunt camp 60 + km's into one of the local ZEC's. saturday was spent cutting trails and laying gravel on the atv's but we snuck out early this morning to a lake trout lake known for big numbers of smaller fish. It didnt disappoint and in short order we had a stringer full of these tasty little guys. What they lack in size they make up for in flavour we took them on gangtroll/williams rigs pulled behind bells and dipsys. The wheels. Had to use the winch to pull the rickety old tank of a boat out of the water Many more plans for this area
  13. I wouldn't be so accusatory...you expect kids (likely without their own vehicle) to be lining up out the door to drive out to the country and work for some guy they don't know for 11 bucks an hour one day a week? It seems as though you have earned some great friends though
  14. Taro Murata and Greg Klatt are both right up your alley
  15. Why don't you guys just use wire?
  16. What a monster. My pb sheepy came from very close to there as well. I bet it fought a little harder than those little green thingys
  17. Verrry nice. Looks super comfortable
  18. All depends on the harness and what you want it for. I just tied a couple small ones for speckles and used 4 lb mono. For walleye and pike I usually prefer wire, but if you're insistent on line I would use XT in either 12 or 14 lb test
  19. Fished it a couple times...both times we hit a good schools of big smallmouth and I caught a nice walleye there once too. Focus of the mid lake area around the big island and the river mouth for a good starting point
  20. Snapping turtle vs Misfish in a float tube...hopefully Terry gets some footage next time lol!
  21. Great season? I'd have to agree with that! Bottle cap idea is awesome too
  22. There is a little shack just as you turn off chemin Kipawa onto Maniwaki where you sign into the ZEC and purchase your pass etc. ZEC Restigo is the quickest to access, but there's Maganisipi and Kipawa as well. They're all big and filled with lakes with amazing fishing potential
  23. Kept the riggers on just in case you had to get those senkos extra deep, i see
  24. Hawgs of all kinds! I wish I was more keen on documenting my fishcapades throughout the seasons
