  1. woohoo! won't be long here either...even some goofs out riding snowmachines already
  2. All the outfitters speak english in the area lol. As for boat rentals I don't even know if there any, but you can expect a fantastic wilderness fishing trip if you make it.
  3. That's it. A conservation-minded angler can still harvest enough fish to eat fish a couple times a week all year for under 30 bucks. Hell of a deal as far as I'm concerned. The $2 fee doesn't bother me, but what does bother me is that the MNR will likely never become a funding priority for the province, and will be perpetually underfunded. I'd argue that they do a damn fine job with the hand they've been dealt!
  4. Good point about keeping the spare mechanism under the box nice and loose for when the day comes that it's needed. My truck's at Krown right now, should have done that before hand
  5. I hate short trailer syndrome I'd like to weld about 3 more feet onto my trailer for my 12 footer lol
  6. How much longer till he t-bones the chevy? . Awesome video
  7. They didn't show up tonight either. Looking like another great win for Mtl. Nice to see Gonchar out there on the PP and 'role' players like Weise and Gallagher absolutely lighting it up on the ice
  8. Mattawa stretch is very quiet once you get south of town. There are a couple small (very small) trailer parks and some old rustic cabins, but yes it has a fairly remote feel to it. Much of that stretch is very cavernous, with huge near vertical cliffs on either side of the river.
  9. Heard nothing but great reviews about those Kelly Safari's!
  10. The Grabbers are a load range E
  11. At2's are a great tire, one of my favourite a/t's. keep up on rotation and you should get at least 60-70 k out of them. They are more than reasonable in mud and rocks and have a nice rigid sidewall design. I'll likely go back to them on my truck. My sierra I bought in the summer came with true m/t tires and they are no good for a daily driver, unless you wanna sacrifice road manners and fuel mileage for looks haha
  12. I have the Rover's, which have the 'crampon' on the bottom. Can't comment on slush performance, since I don't use them for ice fishing, but they perform very well in deep snow.
  13. That's just the pickmeup I needed. Nothing forecasted above 0 for the next two weeks around here. Hopefully another early start to the season for us.
  14. I run Faber's as well, with the wooden frame, and they're awesome!! Have had them for 3-4 seasons and have not had any wear issues to date
  15. Yep, regular PP is still the best braid I've ever used, but like others said, braid is not abrasion by nature, so a 15-20 lb leader of berkley big game or something similar wiukd be your best bet.
  16. Well that was a fantastic read. Those dollys with the full spawning colours are incredible
  17. Awesome report. Sounds like you'll have to go back next october for moose season
  18. Nicely done. I hope you didn't end up in one of J-roc's grease films!
  19. Lots of places. Billy Bob's or Discount tackle would be most convienient for you. Gramps on hwy 11 by Angus lake is closest to your final destination. Call in advance to be sure.
  20. I've been doing it for years. Whats the problem?
  21. Public school boards are secular by nature, so I don't see what's so surprising about a school choosing not to participate in such an event, even if the religious aspect of the holiday is all but gone these days lol. Once the kids are out of school, they can dress and celebrate however and whatever they want with their families, so the whole 'Christians getting stripped of their rights' argument is just downright ridiculous.
  22. I have a 55 lb minn kota for my sportspal. I have an Interstate pro series 29....the largest interstate deep cycle. If you go to a battery shop or do some research online there is a simple formula you can use to figure out how big of a reserve yoy need to match the draw of your motor. For the 55, it was the largest haha I run my battery just ahead of my feet, about 1/3 of the way up canoe but could also put it under my arse if I was strapped for space. Either way, if you're by yourself you will need at least 70 pounds up in the bow to weigh the front end down. If I had cable to spare I would just run the battery up at the bow. Do such cable extensions exist?
  23. We got 10 cm here yesterday. Won't be long now
  24. I definitely say coho as well, and a very nice one at that! Very nice fish
