Opimika is a well run operation, but the area is almost exclusively small, limited access stocked trout lakes and fishing can for the most part be tough until you get to know the area. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I live in Temiscaming and know the area quite well. PM me with some more information on what you're interested in and I can hopefully point you in the right direction.

Yep, grew up next to lake O...-10 with a breeze blowing off the lake is definitely colder than -25 and calm here.

Your truck can run 85% ethanol fuel, many people run it in the states where it is far more common. I believe it is cheaper to buy but there is a substantial dip in mileage. Real world reduction in carbon footprint? I'm not so sure. I know my sierra wil never see that crap.

Yep! Waltonian Inn still has a couple on Nipissing, not sure if any other operators are still running them. Haggard old things but they run great.

Oh boy, the world of brookie fishing is a secretive, mysterious world, definitely not going to get any handouts, but stocking lists are about the only way to get a feel for an area you're not familiar with. Its not the kind of thing you're going to instantly figure out and have success at, but the rewards of finding a productive backlake in the bush is a heck of a lot more rewarding than whacking a few fish out in the hut villages and the crowds. Good luck! If you're on foot, keep in mind that most of the stocked lakes close to the hwy in that area are likely fairly pressured. Having a sled will make you a far more productive backlake angler.

If you don't mind traveling to the south shore there are lots of options. Almost all of the operators that offer bungalows also have day huts. The Waltonian would be my number one pick.
