  1. Like others have said, I prefer bass in the 1.5 to 2 pound range, but I don't recall ever keeping a bass that large (3+) for the table anyway, so I can't really comment on the taste factor, but the bioaccumulation/age thing is certainly true.
  2. I missed my chance at a nice kicker fish for team 4 as well...nice fish regardless.
  3. I'd stick with a spoon
  4. Another thing you could try (depending on how late into the season you plan of fishing) when they are staging off the mouths and into marina channels is to slow troll (under 2 mph) big bright jointed raps and lymans. At this point, it's more about getting them agitated than making them want to feed. Also, I'd concentrate on more of a late evening/dusk bite once late august/september rolls around. There will be plenty of fish around Port Hope. early/mid August is usually a tough bite, and without fleaficker or wire line, the water fleas make it a huge hassle. Definitely keep your drag as loose as you can get away with while trolling.
  5. awesome trout. is that a big streamer you were casting?

  11. I wish I had a picture of one I caught out of Lake Ontario a few years back. The one I caught was a vivid orange, and there was a pure white one swimming along with it. Not a very sporting fish

  18. I've had a wire leader pretty much tear the eye out of a fish once. Thankfully he made a nice dinner.
  19. I've always just used whatever 40 or 50 lbs mono I could find that is relatively inexpensive. I prefer xt. But if i'm fishing dark/murky water, I'll just throw on a steel leader if I happen to have any.
