  1. Was it a Stanbait in dark perch you found on Gbay with a Husky muskie leader attached? lol (Irish knows the baits I'm talking about).. Flouro main line isn't going to help when you go from 30ft to 5ft in a blink of an eye, those zebra muscles will slice whatever they come in contact with. I run 5ft leaders when trolling muskie with 80lb braid as main line. I take 10ft of main line off every time I'm out on the water just in case there's a nick from something I didn't see. Nothing you can really do about it but pay attention.
  2. That's a life lesson he'll never forget, probably scare the crap out of him (which isn't a bad thing). There are some rivers I fish you've gotta watch every single step you take or else you're going for a dip. I'd probably look at what were on his feet when he slipped. Running shoes? Hiking boots? A cheap pair of hiking boots with a few sheet metal screws in the bottom will make a world of difference on slippery algae. I think the key here is prevention, a life jacket or PFD is great, but let's not even get to that point next time. Perhaps even a old ski pole to use as a wading staff until he gets more comfortable around that type of water.
  3. Great report!!! Those fish sure have some nice markings on them.
  4. I hate first or second drift fish! lol
  5. The 'Geen is a shitshow. If you want shoulder to shoulder fishing go there. Still not cold enough for me to make the trip.
  6. I just do my sticker online, I haven't gone into the MTO for anything for quite a while.
  7. Now everyone is fishing the Niagara lol
  8. I'll drop you a PM. I'm still busy chasing muskie lol. Wouldn't mind a morning out for steel though on my old stomping grounds.
  9. I gotta dust off the gear.
  10. I'll take one of those this fall please! Beauty!
  11. Some are, most aren't (At least the ones I'm fishing)
  12. Busiest channel on Gbay without a doubt. It can be insane some days. I was out there on Monday, saw 2 boats in the channel and actually fished a really nice weedbed I've come to known over the years. If you weren't out there super early or at dusk, it's basically unfishable.
  13. That lure has been a salmon killer for ever. Love trolling those in close about 5ft down on the rigger and 50ft back or so for stagers.
  14. Fished it a lot as a teenager as a buddy had a cottage there. Very very popular lake, lots of traffic. Wouldn't be my first choice for a getaway.
  15. If I'm fishing with someone that doesn't fish and is going to net I tell them to do nothing more then to put the net in the water when I tell them and I'll do the rest. My PB smallie is also out of HH, there are some cows out there! Can't wait for turnover to finish then I can start plucking away at the wolf packs. Solo muskie fishing as of late has been interesting when it comes to netting lol.
  16. OPP will be all over that. Hopefully someone has reported it.
  17. Kijiji will be your best bet.
  18. Awesome Dave!
  19. Optima hasn't been the same for years. Don't waste your $$$ on one. Go to Total Battery, get as big as a AGM that will fit and go to town.
  20. Find some used Scottys. 1106 or 1116 (they're the same except for the dual rod holder). Run some 12-15lb Sharks and you'll be golden for anything.
  21. Love those Tadpolies!
  22. I have no issues with my Terrova. Ulterra is pretty slick but guys do have problems with the auto stow and deploy.
  23. Absolutely serious. Built in autopilot. Set the autopilot and set your lines or land a fish without worrying what the boat is doing. I use it everytime I'm out solo.
  24. Not going to find many chrome salmon this time of year on Lake O. You'll wanna be fishing staggers in close. After dark is definitely the ticket. J13s, big Moonshine glow spoons etc. Your best bet for the Lymans will be used or just buy some Luhr Jensen JPlugs.
