  1. That exact thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I went to my Mazda dealership for just an oil change, which is reasonably priced IMO, and they took it upon themselves to bring my air cabin filter into the waiting room to show me how horrible it was. I said "no, it's fine". They did the same thing to another customer that was waiting, but she bit. I was pissed off that they wanted to charge me $60 for a $10 filter. I never gave them permission to even touch anything else in my car. Even worse, they obviously already did the labor and took the damn thing out and want to charge a ridiculous fee for putting in a new one? I decided to do it myself, which I have yet to do, lol. So, timely post =) I love it when they show you your brake pads too. I will never go back there again. They also dented my door the last time I was there to switch out my winter tires. Luckily I have two good local mechanics that I've used and will just go back to them. Is eBay better than going to APC or NAPA etc???
  2. WIth his Nikon P900 Super Zoom?
  3. Definitely one of the nicest places in the province. Thanks for sharing the photos!
  4. I visited a P&G office once. Free Scope mouthwash and Crest toothpaste in the bathrooms! Lol.
  5. We fished from shore many times in the fall and spring for Splake. Always caught some using slip bobbers and worms fishing near timber. Although, I think we may have also gone later than September as well. I believe the season is open until the end of November for Splake.
  6. I wish I knew. The only time I caught them in the summer was in a river and during a mayfly hatch. I've been on lakes where they are so stacked up you'd think it would be easy pickings. I tried deep, suspended and targeted the ones in the "shallowest" water as I read the shallower ones might be feeding. Not a single bite. I've jigged for them on the spring opener on Simcoe though and it was great. If you plan on jigging you will need zero wind. Doesn't take much wind to pull your jig off the bottom in 60+ FOW. Otherwise, an anchor will likely be necessary. We used two anchors. Personally, I think the whitefish like the muddy bottoms in 60+ FOW. Structure fishing has never made much difference in my success, but maybe that's just me. Not that they weren't near structure, but they were in the middle of nowhere just as often. You might be better off targeting the lakers.
  7. Caught them on Lake Of Bays during the day targeting whitefish. Non-stop action one day. NIpissing is another lake where you can catch them. I think Bernard too, but I can't seem to recall if we caught them there or not. I can't say I know how to target them, they were always incidental catches. Most people suggest fishing at dusk/night though using dead minnows or liver etc...
  8. I was on Kasshabog last week and was very quickly reminded why I never want to own a cottage. Far too many selfish idiots around to ruin my day.
  9. If you're in no rush, try one of the listing services as mentioned. A lot of people in my area use them (a lot don't as well), but they seem to take a bit longer to sell. My guess is the buyer agents probably avoid them. Oh, definitely ditch that agent. They're so many out there.
  10. I haven't rented a ice hut for a long time as I don't think the experience was ever that great. Not because the outfitter was bad (although, some are), but when it comes to ice fishing it benefits to move around a lot. Something you are less likely to do if you rent a hut for $80+ a person (ouch!). An actual guide is probably money better spent if you're after Lakers. The Lake Simcoe Message Board should offer a lot more information
  11. As long as you don't start telling me to use the Banjo Minnow, we're cool.
  12. I dunno, looks like only 61 hours of work to me.....
  13. As mentioned, try an O-Ring, a slice of tube (ones you use for fishing), shrink wrap or zip ties. If you're using actual Senkos, try cheaper knock-offs like Yum Dingers, Strike King Zero/Ocho, Z-Man Zinkers, BPS Stik-O, Wave Worms Tiki Stik or even Kinami (which are basically identical). All are cheaper and aren't as soft (with the exception of the Kinami). A hook with a weed guard may also help. The guard may offer an added benefit of stopping the worm from coming off.
  14. Post is one big block of text for me =(
  15. Sounds like a successful trip. I've had my eye on Two Moon lodge for a while. Hopefully I'll make a trip out there one day.
  16. I picked up a bunch of Mustad Sea Booms that work well. Northland sells a special clevis with their Rock Runner pencil weights . It's basically a plastic quick change clevis with a slightly longer body. As said though, a standard quick change clevis should work just fine. Otherwise, I am sure you could just clip on another 1 oz. pencil weight to the bottom bouncer with a swivel or rubber band etc..
  17. Very nice! Looks like a great trip. Thanks for putting it all up. Those were some really nice Walleye. I could spend all week catching those! Foam "beds" don't look too comfortable though, lol.
  18. You're probably right. It snowed in Alberta yesterday!
  19. I ordered my blades online, but have picked up the odd pack from places like Bass Pro and Angling Specialties etc. I have some links at the bottom of this article if you want to check out some places online. Most are in the USA, but luremaking.com is in Canada and I've ordered plenty from them. Trustworthy source and they carry good products.
  20. Not sure if this helps, but I put up depth maps for Clear, Commanda, Crooked, Stormy and Restoule Lakes for you here. [scroll to the bottom of the linked page] Also, sorry to hijack, but can anyone recommend a cottage resort on any of those lakes? Preferably with a pool and boat/motor rentals. Thanks.
  21. Is that a 7.2 Amp hour battery? If so, I believe the 20HR means that it should last 20 hours at 360 mA discharge rate. You are drawing almost double that, so it should last <10 hours. Probably more than 4, but it depends on what the actual current draw is of the sonar. The average/typical might be 615mA, but not with the backlight on etc..
  22. Ha, that's awesome. It slipped my mind that you were heading there is summer. Looks like you guys had a pretty good trip. What was the cabin like?
  23. All the best bud, Ooh Rah!
  24. Meh, honest mistake. I find it odd they actually took the time and effort to track you down, lol.
  25. Most people probably won't even cook a steak like that properly. Well done, NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I just had some steak at a restaurant that was cooked "Sous Vide" and it was really awesome. Probably something we can easily do at home. http://www.chefsteps.com/activities/sous-vide-steak
