  4. FYI : in some of the major great lakes salmon tournaments, there is a "no communication" rule ( ie VHF radios, cell phones, text messaging)
  5. 16' all the way get it as deep & wide as possible - will make a world of difference
  6. a) Babe Winkleman - one of the good' ol boys - allways loved his shows & videos - no one can touch his hair, huge coffee mug & giant sunglasses! Banjo minnow DOES catch fish - allmost as fun as a Senko to fish with
  7. get the Lowrance fixed mount - LBs has the best price - some places will be willing to match it
  8. congrats on the good finish and to clarify for those wondering, none of the fish were wasted
  9. for the longest time i was big into bass/muskie/pike ect... now witrhout a doubt its trolling the big water for salmon, trout & some walleye as well.... nothing beats a 10lb steelhead doing cartwheels 100ft behind the boat before it even pops a release & or a 20 something pound salmon violentinly smashing a wire dipsy diver set-up
  10. so its ok for cats to be covered in grass & mud, but not steelhead? just kidding - nice cats Rich - I hope to set some time aside this spring to target them
  11. Dan - what waters will you be fishing & what are the target species?
  12. ahh yes Percy, been a while nice job dooGGles
  13. mmmmm beer Creemore, Keiths, Guiness, Killkenny are my faves to have at the pub usually in my fridge you'll see Labatt 50, John Labatt classic, Muskoka lager and now that the sun is out more often: Brava!
  14. right on bud! awefully nice of ya to give those muskies a two month head start before you chase'em down
  15. maybe the clicker was turned off? - there's a little knob on the opposite side of the reel handle
  16. was he eating pizza?
  17. Shimano Tekotas & Okuma Catalina's are the top of the line - very similar in performance( they all have clickers) Okuma Convectors are the next level down, still a great reel as are Dawai Sealine LC's a few other companies have offered LC type reels this season: Rapala, Quantum & Penn for example (havent used either of those yet) on the lower end of the scale are Okuma Magdas & Dawai Accudepths - good reels if your only using them a couple trips a year...
  18. i gotta agree with Roy's little rule of thumb: Garmin for land navigation, Lowrance/Navionics for water
  19. 10 lbs are good use 12 is your running a temp probe to minamize the blow back when possible & practible, try to mount all the down riggers & rod holders on the corners & the side gunnels - try to leave the back wide open to allow plenty of room to net fish
  20. "serious rods for serious anglers" if I remember correctly....
  21. fixed mount - if you dont have room for an 8' antenna, get a 3' Lowrance has an excellent unit - LB's had it listed for $120 in there catologue, & my local shop happily matched that price for me http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Marine...-Radio/LVR-250/
  22. Grand River
  23. Banjo Minnow? Love it!
