  3. quite normal for many fish have a little tint on them Brian in the middle of summer I often catch some rainbows showing some of their colours a little more prominently then many of the typical silver bullets as well
  4. will be a good experience for him Brian someday i'd like to be on the competeing end of it...
  5. sorry to hear this my friend... but his pain is gone, and him & your Mum are catching up now please accept condoleneces from both Andrea & I
  6. you know anything about fishing with brightly coloured objects at your side eh Rog?
  7. in many of the major 1 or 2 day salmon tournaments nowadays each team is required to supply a spotter (aka observer) all the the spotters names are then drawn & assigned to a different team/boat for the tournie, their job is basically to just be an iumpartial witness to make sure all rules are being complied with they are not allowed to fight/land/net fish. A few friends of mine have done this & I have been told that it is a great way to learn some of the newer technique being used on the Lake from the best salmon anglers. I would like to do it once myself. As well, often you are often invited the to prefish with your team (you can fight fish then)
  8. you definetly could not have picked a better charter boat or captain. Dave is the man. Congrats on a decent day.
  9. totally agree.... there shouldnt even be a consv. lic. ( ontario is the only prov that offers one correct?) Im suprised the bloodsuck'n Govt has'nt figured out that it would be an easy way to make a couple extra bucks for our gas thirsty CO's to only offer a sports license....
  10. nice shooting der fella's pete, I thought you gave up on fishing for bait! (jk)
  11. 1 fishing partners that are late (without letting me know that they would be) 2 other boats who dont have or turn on there navigational lights when they are supposed to 3 idiots on the VHF channels being idiot-like
  12. I too am on the water too often when many of these shows are on & I dont have WFN but occassionally i'll sleep in on the weekends & catch glimpes of some shows. I do enjoy Getting Hooked, Urban Outdoor Adventures, and Fishful Thinking - good clear, watchable hosts who fish "regular" spots & teach you a few things. Ive been watching & reading Choronzey (Going Fishing/Ontario Fisherman) since nearly the beginning. Ive said it once & i'll say it again... Darryl is the Don Cherry of Ontario fishing, you may not agree with him, but he says it how it is & isnt affraid of the the outcome & most often is factually correct. And being a Great Lakes (Salmon) guy myself, I almost allways totally agree with his view point.
  13. hmmmm MIGHT be able to swing it.....
  14. been a coupla months since we last a saw post like this... nonetheless, I love my beer. Lately I have been with the DanC programe been drinking Brava the last coupla months - a good summer beer put out by Lakeport McLays is good as well as is Laker & Lakeport Red are both decent & a fave lager of mine Alberta's Best (another buck'a beer) when I am in the pub & drinking draft I treat myself and have Keiths, Creemore or Kilkenny
  15. for walleyes i usually just snap the knecks & then put on ice or in cold water after pictures have been taken for softer fleshed fish like trout or salmon, I remove the gills & slit the throat - actually most of the time while im trout/salmon trolling, if there is a few minutes between fish being caught, i'll quickly clean them on board - belly slit open, head, blood & entrails removed, a quick rinse in the lake and now i dont have to clean fish when i get home in the fridge/freezer or straight on the BBQ
  16. guess Joeys happy
  17. Curado - no doubt and I have actually herd good things about BPS's line of rods/reel (maybe Justin will see this thread) I have 3 of their rods & love 'em
  18. Ive tried many different fish dishes in my time and Ive come to the conclussion that different species taste better when prepared best to compliment their flesh qualities. BBQ'd salmon mmmm.... fresh fried perch/eyes/pike mmmmmm cajun catfish mmm..... cold smoked whitefish mmmm..... its Alllllll GOOD side note I once ate a legal (season & size) muskie due to profuse bleeding - i fried some of the fillets & BBQ'd some steaks they both tasted quite good as well.... but I would never specifically target a muskie for the table
  19. Ive got 2, well maybe 3 i guess SW section of Lake Ontario - been fishing since ive been 5 & it holds many species & lots of trophy potential & there is lotsa water to share with everyone and ive got a handful of launches to choose from within 20 mintues or so Kawartha Tri-Lakes - have a trailer up there & have been gaining much confidence up there for most species Bay Of Quinte ( can count it as Lake O if you want) - never had a walleye skunk there in all my trips (spring or fall) and have broken and reset a few Pbs there - havent made any trips yet specifically for bass or pike, but plan to someday
  20. dont "torpedo release" that one Rich congrats on the safe arrival 3 more months for us!
  21. Johnny, my boat is only a 16.5 30hp tiller - yours is nearly the same? Ive been fishing the Great lakes since I was 7, just gotta respect the water & know what days to stay home & wok on the honey-do-list - no need for downriggers either, yes they are effective, but securely install some good rod holders & good salmon action can be had with other techniques
  22. will be in touch with you John
  23. very nice! Lloyd has put quite a few OFC'rs on some good fish the past coupla seasons
  24. Rich...... MARRIED?????
