Shane "guided" me & Bricknblock (Peter) one march day in 2006... took us out in the old "tonka truck" and hauled us around to a few spots over the day trying to get us on the whiteys ive herd many fine stories about him over the years.... he certainly lived hard, worked hard & played hard & has now left us too earlyRIP Shane, condolences to the family, friends & buddies
  5. Geoff Hoover @ Wild Reels, Port Burwell, Lake Erie
  6. i'll have a meal of fish that ive caught every second week on average... most of 'em being salmon & steelhead i do smoke many as well, as they make tasty snacks when out in the boat
  7. wouldnt be suprised if there were a few more submerged lower units in that stretch... allways enjoy your reports Erik used to fish there a lot, have only been once in the last 2 yrs...
  8. check out www.spoonpullers.com loads of info there for ya
  9. John, I jave great respect for all the groups across the lake who volunteer $$$ & time for the good of the fishery, thank you like FM said, its tough when we are fishing for salmon with large trebles & flasher/flies & the rainbows start pecking away at our spread of baits,,, as long as limits are followed & no fish are wasted, you cant really ask us to do more.... and yes I do fish for rainbows in the fall/winter as well so i do value the fishery that we are fortunate to have
  10. i love "we're here beer"
  11. good info here.... thanks guys

  14. Ive used many riggers on different boats Scotty or Big Jon are the best right out of the box
  15. been a tough few weeks winds havent been favorable for the small-mid sized boats... water temps keeep getting blown around and not allowing things to "set up" for long canadadude has offered some good advice tho
  16. Fishing Finactics, Tall Tales & Kingsway Sports are my faves when im up in the KW/Gulph area
  17. im pretty happy living in the middle of the Niagara region nearly a dozen different launch ramps 10-45 minutes from me, and that includes Lake Ont, Erie and both stretches of the Niagara and WORLD class fishing for at least 7 species
  18. ahhh that there could be my problem? i have a big 'ol "annalog" antenna on the side of my house... i assumed i cold just hook that line up to the convertor & then to my non HD TV & all would be well.... thanks for the responses everyone
  19. Have many folks been using digital convertors for there TV antennas? We dont watch a lot of tv nowadays (rather be outside) and I'd rather spend money at the tackle shop then to give away to Bell anyways, a friend gave me his convertor that he never used (Apex 250 i think)... I hooked up all the connections properly &I ran the auto program scan, but it only gives me one channel (23, from Buffalo) any suggestions/ideas? greatly appreciated thanks
  20. pretty sure the odds of having a CO tapping you on the shoulder in southern Ont are rather low
  21. anyone owning one of these toques should have a story or two to share.... im still however a little too cloudy from the experienece to make a contribution
  22. they also want them along Lake Ontario as well 16 pages worth of articles & discussion can be found here: http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14436
  23. right on, good to see many like to spend time with Lady O i run a fairly small boat myself for the big water, just gotta pick safe days & use common sense
  24. Hey gang ive been a "member" here for quite a while & have gotten to know a few of you fairly well as to what your preffered styles of fishing are... OFC has grown in members over the years, so I am just curious as to how many folks here take adavantage of Lake Ontario's open water salmon (& trout) fishery? by far it has become my favourite over the last few years, though I will happily fish just about any other water body or method that southern Ontario has to offer
  25. all the Net pen projects for Lake Ontario's salmon ( and hopfully trout too perhaps down the road) are a good thing and could use all the support they can get for those who are interested in more there are a few sites they check out for more info to find a location near them to get involved www.metroeastanglers.com www.ringwoodhatchery.ca www.spoonpullers.com and for all those who can attend there will be a tournament out of port dalhousie this May in support of that site's pen project - everyone welcome http://straitlineanglers.com/Feed_The_Fry/..._tournament.htm hope the mods dont mind me posting these links, its all non-profit & for the benefit of the fishery
