  1. this is for Bell? I called a coupla weeks ago & was told I needed the upgrade... are they trying to screw us city slickers?
  2. Ive been to both Glen Echo & Lakair depending what end of the Lake you wish to fish, both are fine spots with exceptional hosts
  3. just 'cause they'r not posting, dosent mean they are not catching ya know........
  4. my appologies to you LOLLH - as i was not reffering to you in particular
  5. dont wanna derail this thread but Darryl had done way more for this province's fishery than many seem to realize - upsets me a lot when i see stuff like this..... and I also back on Lew 100% on his reply and yes it is a shame that we have lost the contribution of some fine anglers, i dont fault them at all for their decision......
  6. it was an incidental catch i too had a legal muskie expire on me after it inhaled a small crankbait on me - it never had a chance - i now take a couple of extra measures when I am not targetting muskie too try & prevent it from happening it again
  7. lower Niagara seemed a little low as well today....
  8. thanks for sharing Shelly Pete & Char sure are good people indeed - loving looking homestead they have - I remember a coupla years ago, Pete was telling me about the big dreams he was having - looks like they came true!
  9. one the best shops in the province no doubt
  10. all the best Paul (aka "what's his name")
  11. Paul do yourself a favor - get a fixed mount VHF I have buddies with handhelds, yes they work, but range is limited, batteries wear out (you cant talk while the batt. is charging) Lowrance makes one heckuva VHF & can be had at LB's for $120-30? if the 8' antenna is whats stopping you, then get a 3' sailboat antena - thats what i did for my boat - working like a top http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Marine/LVR-850.asp
  12. i dont think he was specifically targetting muskie - a 1/2 oz spinnerbait is a great multi species bait for the lake & anything will hit it - I dont fault him for being under-equipped, unless muskie was the desired target. The one muskie that expired onme, came while walleye trolling with light gear, nothing i could do to help it - every year up that way i get muskie while walleye fishing, I am now experimenting with stronger floro leaders while eye fishing now, so that accidental 'skies wont wont bite me off with 3 trebles in there yap - working so far....
  13. we had a good night last night on the big lake during that time period as well, took my biggest king of 07 fishing the moons often can tip the odds in your favor
  14. nice going ive only been able to get up that way once so far... dont worry about the Muskie, it happens & you tried - i too had a 38" expire on me up there, they dont taste too bad, but are never a fish fry target of mine
  15. I remember somebody called out somene for posting the same message on "mulitble boards" before
  16. THough they take the most "bigger" fish for me, I hate fighting salmon on wire dipsey setups, ya its fun feeling 'em directly, but I prefer 14 lb mono with a clean spoon off the rigger for trout & kings
  17. I agree Heartland & TDRs are reasonably priced & bullet proof The Accudepths & Okuma Magdas will do the job, but if your gonna do a little more trolling then just 2 trips a year to Quinte, do yourself a favor & get Convectors or Sealine linecounters - speaking from experience
  18. go to one of the piers and chuck a spoon or bounce a jig.. ya never know....
  19. think about what most produce, pork, beef & chicken are exposed to and/or injected with & a few small trout & salm on look pretty good - I have a small coho on my BBQ right now actually
  20. some "cool shots" there Justin
  21. anyone remember any instance like this when they couldnt race on Monday either?
  22. do lots of homework & ask lots of questions before settling on a trailer park - rules & certain fee's vary by park - at some parks now, trailer owners are being stuck into municipal taxes where the park owner is paying tax on the whole property allready (double dipping Gov't) Crestliner, Tracker, Smoker Craft & Sylvan - good brands of boats to look into
  23. for those who are unfamiliar with them http://moorelectronics.com/fishing/fishing.html http://www.cabelas.com/spodw-1/0036108.shtml
  24. I agree with Tybo & Uncle Buck 1) get the vinyl as the base & snap in carpet for when conditions call for it 2) wood floors with vinyl are prone to wood rot - this winter ill be taking the wood pieces out of the boat in my garage for the weeks my boat wont in use & i'll let everything breath & dry & i'll be able to get the whole hull/pedestal bases cleaned up from all the little bits of junk that find there way in the crices ( ill post up some photos of that little project when it happens) my boat is 4 yrs old
  25. a down speed & temp unit is to trolling what a flashers (Vexilar) is to icefishing - once you use one, you just cant fish without one again - i have afew friends how have them on their boats very slick indeed - its pretty high up on my wish list - auto inflate PFD's first tho.....
