  1. Mid September can be a very tough time to fish. Walleye you might fluke into a few jigging the basin, but it’s still to early to fish the river for eyes. There might be some residents but if you aren’t looking to just catch, go after bass and pike. You’ll know how to fish dependent on how the weather has been. This year it’s been hot and the standard jerkbait, topwater stuff isn’t working. If you arent getting them topwater that means you you need to go fish 15-30 fow and drop shot shoals. LM can be found inside of brignall banks you won’t find em west of it. If the weather cools down you will have an incredible time once you solve the puzzle, it might take a day. what musky said, there’s a shoal in the middle of the river be
  2. Parry sound could easily host a big event. the run from PS all the way up and down the coast is nothing especially if you can run the open water. Lets not forget Erie just broke a Canadian record for the largest bag in Canadian history, while also producing 3 thirty pound bags in one day last year. Guys were running out into the friggin ocean and back in on one of the most recent Costa events. The Costa series fishes Lake marion every year and they manage and that lake is scared the hell outta me wayyy more than G bay ever did. Obvuously if you want to get into greasy back shoals you better have gone and pre-fished to figure your way into the shoals, but ive never seen anything like marion where the main drive lines between the buoys was full of dead heads and stumps and the water clarity is less than a foot. With a good pair of glasses you can at least see the rocks on G bay, driving marion felt like i was driving through a damn mine field, nothing was safe.
  3. i went to aikmans with my v1 and yup...he delivered the sad news...this was after he did his best to get it fixed...and then he proceeded to not charge me anything...thats how that guy rolls. Honest to a T
  4. Arcteryx is definitely a different style of jacket, i wouldnt call it a "fishing jacket" they are made for mountaineering and hiking. Therefore they are the lightest jackets available pretty much on the market. The one i have is literally a shell so its not doing anythign but keeping you bone dry. You can also wear them in pretty warm weather because they are just the goretex material, no liner of any sorts. They are also double sealed at all seems and have a lifetime warranty...you definitely pay for it though. I got to put it through the ringer down in south carolina this year when one of the hardest torrential downpours i have ever experienced in my entire life hit while we were out in the swamp...it lasted 20 minutes and the only parts that got a little wet were my wrists because the water was pouring so hard it was running off of my hands and back up my sleeves when i held my hands above my head to cast lol
  5. oh that wasnt a slight at those bodies of water, i regularly get photos from fisherpete about them lol my point was that this fishn canada claiming world record is a joke/clickbait
  6. lmao "world record" i have a feeling the guides on G bay that catch 60"s might have something to say about that.
  7. theres just sooooo many lakes to fish...and it sounds like you dont have a solid enough of a fishing partner lol
  8. just like the time i went out fishing with a "muskies canada" member and his landing process was to net the fish and then throw it on the floor of his boat to unhook it ? to be clear I am not talking about fisherpete lol that guy is a next level fish handler
  9. Take a word of advice from me, dont mess around with goretex knock offs...i have a Cabellas suit thats their own "goretex" and honestly it just doesnt match up...I have a true goretex Arctyrex jacket now...and you can bet it outperforms the non goretex. Everything i read says its between BPS 100mph and cabellas guidewear
  10. very fair, i think 1000 islands might have it topped, i dont agree that erie does anymore, its a little overblown/overpressured. Ive always said I wonder what would happen if one of these big tournaments did georgian bay what would happen? Although us G bay guys i think like the lack of attention it gets lol. Although it would be cool to see KVD or Seth Fieder tear it up. One thing is for sure, our tighter regs up here are placing possibly 4 of the best smallmouth fisheries in the entire world in one small area.
  11. followed your progress on instagram steve, was super pumped to see you leading after day 2. Still mind blowing that putting 60lbs up didnt get you the win. Simcoe really may be the best smallie fishery in the entire world at the moment.
  12. you're telling me! last year my motor blew, I ended up taking my old mans 55lb powerdrive v2 and buying him the 80lb motor he needed for his boat. $2000 was a bit steep considering how much a pedal costs lol. To throw salt on the wound, Jimmer has a working pedal so he threw me a bit of cash and took the motor from me and is using it to this day lol. Such is life.
  13. thats an awesome rig man! I dont know if its just me, but alumacraft just makes boats that are crisp, their storage compartments, and everything is just so well constructed and thought out. Glad you are enjoying it!
  14. guarantee your foot pedal is pooched. Thats the exact same foot pedal and connection as the powerdrive V1's To the person that said that the foot pedals are on ebay/amazon, you are looking at the Gen 2 foot pedal, which unfortunately does not communicate with the Gen 1/even older systems. The only way to upgrade to those foot pedals is to switch the head chip in the older units (this is possible) however when you price it all out, its in excess of $400 making it totally not worth it when used motors can be found online for a lot less.
  15. is that an alumacraft tiller i spy...yammy 40? nice set up
  16. cheers for this info, hard to find solid boat mechanics these days for real.
  17. its breaking up a little as rain tends to when it hits very very dry land. The land literally evaporates the moisture out of the atmosphere. At least one good thing is that areas just to the south like britt, pointe au baril and byng inlet are getting some of the rain. Although this fire is concerning, what was scaring the hell out of me was the possibility that another fire could spark in the region which would require the resources from Parry Sound 33 to have to start fighting another fire. That's the last thing that area needs. When you observe the radar closely, you can really see how dry the stretch between pointe au baril and the french river is dry as a bone...you can literally see the rain evaporating in that stretch as soon as it hits the land.
  18. ...except that the area is filled with smoke and theres the chance that highway 69 is borderline about to be closed... The guy isnt going to tell you not to come until the evacuation is actually in effect. His business would be taking a beating because of all of this. I am not going to tell you not to go, but if you do, expect heavy smoke, like very very heavy smoke...if you or anyone going with you has respiratory issues, i would very strongly advise you to not go. Be prepared for the potential for highway 69 to be closed at any moment and having to find an alternative way home i.e. running north to sudbury and then east to northbay back down 11. Last but not least, be prepared to be ordered to evacuate at any moment. Grundy lake PP was evacuated over the weekend they sent 800 campers home 10km to the south of where you are headed.
  19. thats what drives me insane lol we fish all day for a flury of 10 minutes where we catch 20+lbs and then thats it for the day. Every time ive caught a smallie in October or November, ive caught at least 4 in a row and then thats it.
  20. all the best to you man...i couldnt imagine, im worried enough down in Pointe Au Baril...were all hoping for rain.
  21. ya...id be looking to go elsewhere southwest winds this weekend too, you will be in for a miserable time. If you can even get there with the pending evacuation.
  22. probably didnt see the choppers with the buckets because they were out fighting the fires! Britt has become the new base for fighting them. A local farmer donated his fields for the effort. Its crazy to think of how close all of this is, i snowmobile through this area all of the time...so sad.
  23. any tips on how i can retire tomorrow as well? im 30 lol
  24. quick shootin when do you install the talons and 110 ultrex?
