always been a believer that if we are doing our utmost at all times then thats all one can ask us for aside from asking us to stop fishing altogether...always a great idea because the best stewards of the water are people that live downtown and never see the lake to begin with unless its from a yacht lol Now dont get me wrong, I see a lot of bullcrap on the lake too, unfortunately and I am not trying to be judgemental but every time ive seen Bull done while fishing its been from folks from the catch and keep generation...Once again, I will point out i am not singling out a "generation" because itd be my generation that would run a friggin jetski through 3 feet of water at full speed right over a pile of largemouth beds (ive seenthat done too) biggest one is guys using stringers as livewells... Two weekends ago i was fly fishing for salmon and we were walking out and buddy yells at me and jake from the bridge "Any salmon in there?" Jake "I dont know" Idiot "is this the Blank River" Jake "I dont know" Idiot to his idiot friend "Oh theres one! see it swimming, they probably didnt catch em because you need to floss em:" but then the next one is guys targeting musky using bass gear, and then proceeding to not have any of the required equipment to appropriately manage those fish i.e. a proper musky net, a set of bolt cutters, jaw spreaders etc etc. anyways this concludes my rant about the amount of trash I see happen on our waterways from "fishermen"

matthews may have the best shot in the NHL right now. He doesnt miss. Ovi and Laine come to mind, but i dont know if anyone shoots as accurately as AM

Toronto the only place in the world where a 2-1 loss would make the fans happier than a 7-6 win on the road in Chicago with your backup in net on the second night of a back to back. the leafs haven’t got goaltending yet this season with an over .810 save percentage. As soon as they get league minimum goaltending these games are all easily won. I’m having horrible flashbacks of back in the day when the leafs were bad and teams like Chicago would come into the ACC and no matter what you did they somehow always managed to find a way to stay in games and then would come back and steal two points from you. Because even when good teams have an off night they still somehow always managed to leave Toronto with 2pts its game three and the leafs are 2-1 who cares how they do it, keep winning, the goaltending and defense will settle. Did anyone watch the Pittsburgh Washington game? The defending Stanley cup champions gave up 6 goals as well.

I realize that i mis-read the OP's post. If he is looking for a rod to throw smaller swimbaits on lighter swimbait heads i.e. 1/2oz then a good all around rod would be something like a spinnerbait specific rod that has a light tip, a bit of flex but plenty of backbone for big hooksets at distance. longer rod is great for casting distance, while also providing you more space for hooksets when youve bombed a cast out deep.

this pic is blowing up, i saw it on Twitter this morning and its gone viral...i almost made it my phone background this morning it was so cool. Still might. dont be surprise is matt comes back to the blue and white, hes a bandwagon jumper after all we already know that. Either that or hes mysteriously going to become a san jose fan...

basically how i feel when i see any article about the senaturds
-
my best bud throw a diawa DX series swimbait rod, he loves it and its cheap! Ive used it and it feels pretty solid especially for the price, ive also seen him handle some pretty big pike on it with 0 issue.

I wouldnt call it the "ugly way" they outskilled a crap team got away with one cause their forwards can bury pucks with ridiculous talent. Basically all three goals only a handful of players in the entire league are going to score those goals.
-
lol i hear lots of people talking about the jets and preds...but washington won the cup... Their D core was John Carlsonn and a bunch of journeymen...they just knew how to move the puck to their forwards. Its one game give it time. You guys are talking like Tampa Bay sucks too cause Stamkos and Kucherov arent big tough grinders lol The eastern conference isnt the western conference, two totally different styles of hockey. Case in point the leafs record against Nashville and Winnipeg last year? (the apparent holy grails of teams) 3-1...both teams couldnt handle toronto's speed, specifically nashville. Another stat for you because Matthews and Tavares arent tough enough...Last year there were 8 centres in the NHL that scored 30+ goals...3 of them now play on the leafs lol You know what wins playoffs, depth, the ability for your 3rd and 4th line to win the war of attrition for you. There isnt a single other NHL team that has a 30 goal scorer Centre playing the 3rd line. We also have a guy that basically would be a high 20's goal scorer on any team playing on the fourth line. You guys are caught up in 1993. You do realize perhaps the greatest defenseman of all time Nick Lidstrom didnt use his physical power? Now im not saying that the leafs dont need help on D, i 100% agree they do, but Friggin Matt Martin and Leo Komorov arent the answer ahahha Im glad to see that Dermot looked really good last night, he was the leafs best D man...thats really really promising.

smallies...the bigguns are playing, seen a couple 6's caught this week by a board member and his buddy.
-
theres an MNR stats pull that they did on presumed salmon catches in north eastern G bay...I am pretty sure it was less than 100 total for an entire year...There used to be salmon fishing, but the population has intentionally collapsed. I dont know why you would even bother trying for them when the lake trout fishing is so damn good.
-
water is in the high 50's in PAB. weeds are dying off. was tough fishing a week ago as it really transitioned, but I imagine it two weeks its going to be going.
-
the decline of salmonoids on Lake Huron is totally intentional...look at the MNR's stocking programs on that lake over the past 20+ years. focus is on native species...the laketrout and walleye populations on that lake are as someone describe (now is the good old days) Although laketrout are not found throughout the entire lake like they once were due to their near total extinction, (e.g. you wont find lakers in Pointe Au Baril etc.) the areas where the MNR restocked them...any idiot can catch them, trust me i know this because I can catch them and im an idiot.
-
very tough place to try catch one this time of year. Might run into the odd stray pike or a smallie up shallow eating gobies, but it would definitely be a tough gig without the ability to get off shore.
-
did you tow your fishing boat behind the houseboat? 50 FOW with a 41 inch pike...ahahaha i bet you had a few moments where you were thinking you were going to get spooled. Gotta love pike when you catch em deep, they run and you sometimes think that they will never come back as the drag screams away lol.

insider source...it is happening

unfortunately, not waterproof...for guys like me with screwed up hands, dunking my hands in ice water basically ends my day unless i can miraculously warm them up again somehow. Im excited to see the new design as well, apparently one thing they have added is a touchscreen finger which is awesome. I could see myself picking up a pair for sure.
-
care to elaborate?
-
i have rynauds syndrome...kast steelhead gloves with a hot pack is the only thing that gets me through the fall and winter...without em i literally wouldnt be able to fish. I own 2 pairs for when one inevitably gets damp after a long day of fishing. Your hands will stay dry but the gloves do become saturated much like a gortex jacket. They are the best things that I have found on the market.

ive honestly had better luck with Aikmans...thats just me...had two bad experiences taking my reels to shimano, infact aikmans fixed a reel which shimano failed to fix and charged me for anyways.

Ontario rolls out new hunting, fishing licensing system
AKRISONER replied to Terry's topic in General Discussion
im happy that i can finally just have my license on my phone, having my card on me all of the time is a total PITA. -
Had the pleasure of fishing with a buddy down in South Carolina with a 21 foot triton with a 250 pro xs powerplant. made it even more interesting when the trees in the lake were passing us 5 feet from the boat at 70mph lol
-
I don’t even think I’d want to go 80kmh in an aluminum boat.. jesus the difference between 40 mph and 50 is hugely noticeable in my bass boat. I imagine it’d start to feel like when a bass boat starts pushing towards 65 and starts chine walking, but even scarier
-
Lol this did happen indeed
-
I get to play the odd game at mastercard centre (the leafs training facility) and trust me, there’s a huge difference between most local rinks and real NHL ice. I even played a game on the Olympic ice which is where the world junior team trains before they go to Europe...holllllyyyy crap that ice is wide
