Was down in South Carolina this past week and decided to stock up on some oil for the outboard for this year. Last year I paid $58 a jug for quicksilver (TC-W30) approved oil. Other option is Mercury's oil, yamalube (if you can find it) or Amsoil. All typically over $60. I think there was a dealer in Huntsville that was selling cases last year for $48 a jug of mercury if I can remember correctly. Anywho, headed to walmart and got pennzoil XLF for $17 a jug! I get it, we have healthcare in Canada, so yes we can expect to pay more for things, but some stuff we are just getting totally fleeced on. I dont care about taxation etc, that is just a straight up rip off!

amazon definitely has some great options, personally for me in a bass boat I am also looking at the BBC boards sponsor https://www.bassboatseats.com/

I was the biggest Don fan my entire life. I never missed coaches corner for anything. It actually bothers me a lot now seeing him the way he is. I am not referring to his takes either. He can have whatever opinion he wants on stuff, its the fact that his rambling and stuttering etc is just hard to watch. Its the exact same way I felt about Bob Cole. Fortunately Bob knew it was time to hang em up. But even his announcing was starting to suffer. Reminds me lots of my parents who are also starting to show their age more and more. Its just hard to watch it happen.

kapuskasing - Any advice on what to do?
AKRISONER replied to AKRISONER's topic in General Discussion
thanks for the tips guys...it really sounds like I will most likely be ice fishing. Which is kinda cool to be honest. I cant remember the last time I ice fished in May. Probably since I lived in Manitoba. -
who in the hell gave this guy a sports media job? Its mind blowing to me the spotlight this clown gets. He was a garbage NHLer at best, Definitely could never swing an actual job in the NHL coaching or managing because his takes/understanding of the game are hot garbage, and then on panels the guy can barely talk. The unintelligible garbage he spews makes about as much sense as Don Cherry these days. They treat him like a bloody hall of famer, the guy was a journeyman wimp "enforcer" that averaged 8 points a season and didnt fight. and when he did he got absolutely killed. He sounds like a guy that has been punched in the face wayyyy too many times.

im not claiming the leafs are winning the cup (they win this series? anything can happen), glad to see Moxie is already looking forward to round two. For real though, you guys called me an idiot and told me that I didnt know anything because I said the leafs could beat the Bruins. You didnt provide any insight as to why, except for that they lost to Ottawa at the end of the year. Oh and that they dont have the capacity to play hard playoff hockey. I believe "Steamroll" was the term used. I gave a strong set of reasons why the leafs would have success and you guys called me stupid. Question, are you going to own up to it if the leafs beat Boston?

Hey Guys, Ive got some work up in Kapuskasing so I will be spending a couple of days up there in 2 weeks time. Which also means that I will have some evenings to burn. My guess is that its still ice fishing season up there. I also know it lies on a river so maybe thats open to some casting? Any tips at all that a local or someone with some knowledge could recommend I would greatly appreciate it. Feel free to PM or just reply here.

ahhh, there may be no better feeling than when someone tells you that you are stupid, that you dont know anything and that their "knowledge" is far superior to yours. But then....silence. GO LEAFS GO!

pretty sure I just used an online website. Nothing fancy. I just knew that when i saw what they valued it at in the states (1,500) i said forget it. Not to mention that they wanted me to also get a marine survey done as well. It was basically going to write my boat off just by trying to get it insured. I said forget it.

guaranteed the pedal is the problem...jimmer might appreciate this? Impossible to get working pedals now. He has a few.

Are you replying now because the jets are in the playoffs? If I’m correct, that’s the team you were going to jump ship to right? Although you must be having second thoughts the way their season ended, Calgary might be more your flavour Of the week. i still don’t see a single point worth even talking about aside from “the leafs lack heart” you sound like every old guy in the dressing room that I hear talking after my hockey games. Literally 0 in depth analysis, just complete blanket statements. “They aren’t tough enough”, “they are gonna get steamrolled” that’s all you’ve got? Thanks oh hockey wise one for your highly intellectual input.

See there you go, resale on my boat is probably about $11,000, blue book is $1,500 yet insurance will only give you blue book value. That’s the problem, there’s no way they would give you $20,000 if it’s stolen, even if that’s the reality. I believe your personal belongings in the boat can still be covered by your house insurance as well. If someone hits you, then you can hand them your car insurance because it covers the trailer and your vehicle. The boat damage is on them.

We’ve got 30 inches still up at my place, locked right up. When the ice just won’t go away, run away from it with the boat to lake Marion South Carolina! See you guys next week!

The future of Diesel. Is there one? NF
AKRISONER replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Ya every kit requires you to send your ECU off for reprogramming. I spoke to the diesel doctors in acton and they won’t do the flip on the eco diesels. They say that the kits that are out are all garbage and aren’t from reputable enough companies that they would back the work that they would do doing the conversion. That told me a lot. -
Serious question as I can’t remember the exact age of your boat, but have you ever considered going insuranceless? i crunched the numbers when I bought mine, plus looked up the stats on boat “incidents” i was totally blown away but what I discovered. 1. According to blue book value, my boat was worthless. A close to mint condition 98 skeeter with a Yamaha 130 was valued at $1,500. (If you find one for sale at this price please let me know I’ll Pay triple lol) 2. Unless you are drunk, you basically will never be involved in a boating accident that will result in an injury or fatality. Add alcohol and the entire story changes. It’s actually disturbing. I don’t really drink, so this one was a simple one for me.

I think what we saw the second half of the season was a hell of a lot of A) injuries to defensemen (the leafs don’t have depth at D, their line up is actually ok without injuries but not deep enough when someone gets hurt) B)- complacency: the team got such a big lead but Tampa was so friggin far into the playoffs they were uncatchable. They lost a lot of their edge and clearly just looked flat a lot of games. The curse of being the maple leafs is that every damn home game turns into a hockey night in Canada for the opposition. 50% of visiting team’s rosters are from the GTA so teams end up getting super hyped to come home to Toronto and play in front of their friends and family on the Toronto broadcast. Specifically on Saturday nights it’s a damn curse. When was the last time the leafs had an easy Saturday night matchup? That game always turns into a damn barn burner cause teams just come in absolutely fired up to play hockey night in Canada in Toronto. C) the third factor is just that the style they were playing was getting a bit stale, teams were exposing the D once again because they knew that ozighanov and marincin couldn’t make the puck moving plays that the system requires in order for the leafs to have success. They play a stretch game that requires the d to be mobile and move pucks very quickly. Like last year, polak was getting absolutely ruined because the book got out that if you threw the puck in his corner he couldn’t get the puck back out. With the full roster healthy, and the guys playing with a clean slate, I wouldn’t worry about the “slumps” that a few guys were in...in fact both kapanen and Nylander scored in the last game. A huge factor in this series will be, what happens with Auston Matthews, we all know what happens when he gets fired up and goes into “god mode” he has the capability to take over a game, if the leafs get that version of him, plus a marner tavares line that’s firing on all cylinders? That’s what you want. With this team you know what it’s capable of, you know you have 3 absolute super stars, plus a really good supporting cast that can score almost at will when firing on all cylinders. You know you have a goalie that’s vezina quality when playing well. Like any team, to win in the playoffs it takes a team that is firing. Time will tell what team shows up. I personally think that the playoffs are the exact motivation and kick in the butt that this team needs to start really firing again. The keys to the series here are 1. does John Tavares or Auston Matthews do a good enough job to at least make the Bergeron matchup close last year it was a landslide victory by that line, and 2. Who wins the goalie duel. Freddie has the better season stats. Don’t relate spark’s 2-9 record over his last 11 games taint the picture of the goaltending in Toronto. Rask also struggled a lot towards the end of the season, probably just like Freddie due to fatigue. Finally last year, Toronto went into Boston green, the game was over within the first two shifts of game. The kids were totally overwhelmed they had no idea what they had gotten themselves Into. The Bergeron line just steamrolled over the Nylander line (yes he was playing centre, kadri got the boot) the matchups that Bergeron line was getting were ugly for Toronto. Leafs know what to expect in the gardens game one, they’ve all been there now and know exactly what to expect. If you can even bring that Bergeron matchup close, the second and specifically the third line of Toronto should hopefully totally expose the lack of speed and depth that Boston has. Cue the weak one sentence punchline chirp posts from fans of non playoff teams. My favourite are the ones where they complain about my posts being “too long” and “sharing too much of my thoughts” because they are “stupid and uninformed” while offering no rebuttal or insightful information to counteract my opinions.

lol I love how much value people are giving meaningless games where half of the D core isnt playing. Can someone explain to me why the same team as last year that took boston 7 + John Tavares + Jake Muzzin Are apparently going to get swept by the bruins subtract Rick Nash? Whats different than last year? Is it that Roman Polak isnt playing lmao? If not him it must be Alex Plekenec then that is their major downfall compared to last year.

I also believe that the leafs win round 1. Boston caught them off guard last year, they weren’t ready to play in the gardens. The team is vastly better with the addition of JT and Muzzin. I’ve got the leafs in 7
