  3. even when it was the bears...i knew it was the immagints
  4. had boca bearings in my curado that i purchased second hand, sure enough they totally failed and when i sent my reel into shimano for service this spring they replaced them with stock bearings....
  5. Hire fisherpete, the guy slays the skis...and is priced right, he also provides a ski guarantee! If you want his contact info shoot me a Pmer
  6. who the hell is making musky stew these days aside from ol' fisher pete?
  7. lmao they still arent selling out? can this team please just fold up and move to hamilton already?
  8. ya aside from the fibres all separating into individual lines and then bird nesting in my reel...then also leaving a burnt on plastic residue all over my reel...no real issues at all...stuff is straight doo doo
  9. Unfortunately T James the charts available on Gbay are just not very accurate. I believe the last job was done back in the 40's by the navy for the war effort. Incredibly the maps are so bad that if you go into the Pointe Au Baril area, there actually isnt even a chart available for areas like sturgeon bay or anywhere off of the typical navigation line. its a blessing but also a curse. I will tell you right now that many of my honey holes are either A completely uncharted or B totally inaccurate and therefore not showing any structure in the area at all. It can suck for finding new spots, but it can also be incredible for when you do find a shoal in the middle of a large area that is not marked at all...typically these spots hold fish! For perspective last fall I was fishing a spot that was beside the main path heading south through the shawanaga inlet...the contours were fairly accurate on the main navigation path, we then ventured off of the path and inside one of the navigation buoys into an area that was apparently 5 feet deep...well it was 30...and didnt get to 5 until we were basically on main land again. Perhaps this is a lesson for anyone out there, unless you are on the main drive navigation lines on G bay...dont trust anything! the worst case scenario is the opposite, which I have also found where the depth contours say 15-30 fow but then you come across a shoal the size of a house where the water is only 3 feet deep. No marker at all! This is why I personally am looking for a unit with autochart so that i can create my own maps and not have to rely on the crappy charts available for G bay.
  10. If anyone is looking to get a Ci4 I just recently bought one off of ebay from simmons sporting goods. I was able to get up here for 270 CDN taxes+shipping all in...not too bad
  11. anyone else on here a total snob that uses rio?
  12. not surprising, funny that after all of this time my best baits in the spring a lot are just good old spoons. I see gar all of the time, to the point that they are even curious enough to come right up to the boat and stare right at our baits...they just never commit. Bunk even confirmed for me that we did everything right to get them to hit, but i guess i just dont have his touch. glad to see you having success so early in the new boat...you get my vote for OFC rookie of the year lol
  13. this is the video that got me into uncut...i wasnt even a big crappie guy, but his detail and busting out the vice during the episode...i was like who the hell is this guy.
  14. throw any spider wire you own in the trash...problem solved
  15. Congrats man! Gonna be up on Gbay myself this weekend just further north...what depth did you end up finding them in? I find thats how it is in the spring with pike...can be elusive but once you catch 1 you can catch 10 in a row. I had a weekend one time that we found a school and with each fish the size kept increasing, we went from 2-4-8-10-20lber! what bait ended up being the ticket for ya?
  16. hmmm i dont know if i believe all are 20lb? but i know the xxxs is 20 cause thats what i use...Im a big big fan ive started tying uni-knots for literally everything...including for tying to the lure. I personally find them the easiest to tie, especially when its cold and to me that means less failure even if the knot isnt as strong. I cant tell you how many times ive messed up an improved cinch only to have it come undone or break for whatever reason. normal for almost anything braid - palomar - swivel - uni knot - fluro - uni knot lure or if im jigging braid - double uni knot - fluro - uni knot - lure top water braid - palomar - swivel - uni knot - mono - uni knot - #10 snap - top water lure I will warn you that the raven swivels do break...and usually its emotionally shattering when the do. Theyve failed on me a few times for whatever reason they have just broken in half. Still happens much less often then the problems you will have by not having a swivel
  17. incredibly I have not done this to myself yet, its only a matter of time. Ive always got knipex in the boat though so im sure when my time runs out ill have to deal with it like a man...lord knows my fishing buddies arent gonna let me go home to get it out!
  18. they werent last weekend...ghost town...but after next weeks warmth I have a feeling things are gonna be firing.
  19. bill put me on these a few years back....they rule and now my friends steal them from me all the time.
  20. lately its been a wf 5 f with a 5x tippet....FML why must there be a totally different code! as if fishing wasnt hard enough!
  21. 20lb power pro to a lead of flurocarbon for basically everything except top water. Once Im throwing top water its a lead of mono. Depending on application im either tying the two lines together with a uni knot or most of the time just simply tying both ends to a raven xxxs swivel so that I can tie directly to the lure and avoid line twist. I really really dislike using snaps at the lure for anything except top waters.
  22. lol the first couple seasons with the cottage were a nightmare for me...including one that crawled down my pants and bit me on the unit...was not comfortable to say the least...I also blew up with over 50 welts all over my body. Having been up there for 15 years through the thick of it, the mossies and blacks nip but I dont react like i used to. Still a friggin pain in the but when they get you behind the ears...drives me nuts.
  23. hahaha i know i know...but IMO no creature deserves to die via being caught in some asses garbage fishing line.
  24. dont get me wrong either, ask around here to the guys that contribute...I am more than happy to share and even go fishing with members! Theres even a report on here that was posted where buddy fished literally the exact pattern i provided him and he hammered em. but spot snipers I am not fond of.
