  1. Other than the Kipawa forum is there any other english forums for the rest of the Zecs in Quebec? Googled but all in french and I failed french in school.
  2. I was looking at one of the further east lakes in Zec Restigo or Kipawa. Looking for pike or pickerel. With the fires though i'm gonna stay on Lake O and hope for a derby winning fish:) Do you have to pay the daily fishing rate on Lake Kipawa as well?
  3. Looks like the hot temps didn't affect your fishing. Now i have to rethink the trip to Zec Kipawa in two weeks.
  4. I was on the French a few days ago. Lots of canoes out and didn't move a rod! Well almost didn't move one. Came around a bend in the river and what do I see but a load of naked young women sunning them selves on the rocks! Who needs fish!
  5. Nice pics. Best Sunset shots we ever got were in Northern Quebec. I'm glad you posted this as I was planning a week up in Zec Kipawa and I was wondering how the warm temps were affecting the fishing. Looks like it's salmon fishing now
  6. Fantastic. Sure is nice up there. Pm me what side of the lake you launched on? Didn't see that dock in any of the lake access points we checked out on the east side!
  7. Great report. It's on my list of places to go too. What did the guide do with that fish you were going to smoke? I see the way he cut it up and i've been trying to smoke salmon like that but not sure if it will work in a smoker or just an open fire?
  8. Just got back from three days at Nippising. The bite was dead for two days. Only managed 4 perch the first two days. The third day they woke up. We managed 5 pickerel, four under the slot and one 23 inch, and about 50 jumbo perch. No pike or even mud puppies this year. Water was real murky and couldn't see more than 3 feet on the camera. Nice hut set ups though so we keep going back.
  9. Now a video on the technique please! I'm in the same boat. Been trying the original meegs and never got a fish on them.
  10. That is a great trip. We drove the entire Labrador Highway about 5 years ago. Road conditions were better than most roads in Ontario! Fantastic fishing along the way as well. Heading up there in the winter would be amazing!
  11. I was fishing Simcoe a few years back and I saw a home made helicopter land. Two guys got out. They had lawn chairs and everything else. They fished for two hours then off they went.
  12. I'm seeing a new ad for Ice Fishing hut rentals on Lake Rosseau. Has anyone tried these guys out before? I've never seen rentals on Rosseau before. Not sure if I can mention their name here. I saw the ad on Kijiji.
  13. I tried putting my Whaler away with a partially filled tank and it separated over the winter and stopped both motors in the spring! I went out for the last time this season and ran the main tank dry and switched over to a portable tank. I'm going to pump out the remaining gas in the main tank soon and put her away dry.
  14. Are there lakes and rivers you could use a tinny boat on out that way? Sounds like greats deals on retirement homes.
  15. Central Is great for most stuff. I needed a replacement remote oil tank for my 200 Merc. To buy one new was over 400 bucks! They sold me a used one for 25 bucks!!!
  16. That is why i got a boat with a cuddy and a porta john!!! In the tin boat a bucket will do!!! If the fishing partner complains he gets dropped on shore!
  17. Yes they have a great Customer Service Department. I had a scope for over 12 years that stopped working properly. I took it in to a place near the Airport and they gave me a brand new upgraded scope for free. I didn't even have the receipt with me!
  18. Check out the Flip-Pac. I've been looking for a used one but they are hard to find.
  19. 3 degrees?????? Crap. If this keeps up the ice fishing stuff will be prepped and ready for October!
  20. Ya it might be Kenogamissi. He showed me on the Ontario Road map and it was a long, North/South, lake like that one. Thanks guys. I'm going to take a drive up in September and check it out.
  21. On the way to Lake Nipigon we talked to an older gentleman who had the same truck camper and boat set up we did. He mentioned he was headed to an lake up near Timmins that has crown land camping on the north shore. It was called something like Kapkakong Lake. I can't find it on the road map or google cus I bet i'm spelling it wrong. Would anyone have an idea what i'm talking about? The lake itself is off of the same named road. Long shot I know but i'm looking for a place to go a little closer than Nipigon in september.
  22. It gets very tight down there during the high summer with all the sail boats and power boats tied up. You can still do it as long as you stay aware of your position and don't 'bump' into anyone's boat.
  23. All they need to do now is put in a public launch around the Hearn Plant outflow and some parking! Accessing the inner harbor from Ashbridges Bay is possible in a smaller tin boat but you sure get wet with any kind of wave action!
  24. Looking for a bigger boat already! The 14 foot tinny with the 30 was great for near shore but I really want to explore more. In the first pic you can see where I mounted the oars 'outboard' of the boat. This set up worked great! They were out of the way and didn't even move when splashed and banged around. Planning on a fall trip for about 4 or 5 days. Robert said the Brookie fishing is even better then.
  25. Our rig for the week http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/sterios/nipigon%20233_zpsbkb7cfni.jpg The road in we were warned about. It was no problem at all getting in so makes me wonder if the complainers were driving in Ferraris?? http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/sterios/nipigon%20234_zpsc15fs5hg.jpg Saw a bunch of these guys http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/sterios/nipigon%20417_zpsfhaay30o.jpg Personal best Brook Trout http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/sterios/nipigon%20445_zpsddsyevaw.jpg Three whities all the same size in 10 feet of water! http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/sterios/nipigon%20259_zpsr4gnmis5.jpg All the other pics where the usual trees, rocks and water. Don't hesitate to go up the Lake Nipigon if the chance presents itself. It is a great place to camp and fish and you really feel you are 'out there'
